Systèmes hybrides opto/sans fil pour les réseaux multi-gigabits aux fréquences millimétriques / Hybrid optical-wireless system for multi-gigabit networks at millimetre wave frequencies

Rzaigui, Habeb 09 March 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the radio-over-fiber (RoF) communication systems at millimeter frequencies in the frequency range 57-66 GHz and optical generation of a signal at millimeter-wave frequency band. The technique used is based on mode-locked laser diodes. The diodes employed in this work are in quantum dots (or quantum dashes) technology. In this thesis, several studies were conducted: the first relates the ability of integration these types of lasers in the RoF communication systems under direct or external modulation. The second study was devoted to propagation effects. An original technique was implemented to reduce the sensitivity to chromatic dispersion in an optical fiber. A study of the reduction of phase noise mode-locked lasers based on the observation of the reaction effect and against the external optical injection was presented.

In the first application, a new design of an optical fiber coupler composed by two and three cores from a fiber with step index is proposed and analyzed using a vector formulation based on finite element applied in conjunction with genetic algorithm (GA). The fiber is made with pure silica and silica doped with germanium and it is composed by two and three identical cores separated by distance d. The proposed structure has a very simple geometry, and each fiber that composed the coupler is obtained by inclusion of a very small air hole at the core of each conventional step index fibers. Next, optical fiber composed by photonic quasi-crystals, through a quasi-periodic and symmetric matrix, is analyzed using the finite element method, applied in conjunction with perfectly matched layers of type cylindrical. The structure is composed of germanium-doped silica and it is originates from twelve distributions of air holes arranged symmetrically with a defect caused by the absence of central air hole / Neste trabalho, serão analizadas duas aplicações envolvendo fibra óptica.

An analysis of the use of these amplifiers in Telecommunication applications is described. To this end, simulations were carried out with these waveguides with the data of a real fiber described in the literature. Simulations were also carried out to determine the amplifier s net gain and noise figure and to establish the advantages of its use in a complete optical fiber span, including the compensation dispersion in the O band (1260-1360 nm). As a result, it was demonstrated that the microstructured fiber presents, in some aspects, a performance that is higher than that of conventional Raman amplifiers, and complementary to that of a commercial amplifiers, such as those based on Erbium doped fiber.

Turský, Aleš January 2008 (has links)
The work deals with dispersive effects of single mode fibers. We learn about the chromatic dispersion, the main attention is paid to the Polarization Mode Dispersion. We clarify the root cause origin of the Polarization Mode Dispersion describing parameters and its effect on transmitted data. Further on, the works dedicates to measure methods of the Polarization Mode Dispersion which is the interferometric method or the POTDR method. We explain the ways of the PMD removal at contemporary optic routes and options of PMD compensation by using compensators of various types. There is also mentioned the possibility of profiting from the soliton transmission. The last chapter deals with measuring of a real optic route. It includes measured data and its evaluation due to the ITU-T demands.

PMD - polarizační vidová disperze a vliv na přenos / PMD - polarization mode dispersion and its effects on data transport

Trávníček, Pavel January 2009 (has links)
My graduation thesis is concerned with the effect of polarization mode dispersion on transmitted signal by optical line. It describes external and internal causes of origination of polarization mode dispersion. On the basis of these effects there is a differential group delay (DGD). It is the time delay in meantime within individual modes. DGD results in a time extension of impulsion and limitation of maximum bit rate. This thesis contains localization methods of part of gossamer filament with increased value of PMD by POTDR method. This method is based on the principium of back dispersion and its modifications SOP a DOP. Very important chapter of this thesis is the measurement of the polarization mode dispersion. There are described methods of PMD measurement. It is the interferometric and polarimetric method and the method of state of polarization. The major part of this thesis is about the reduction of polarization mode dispersion effect. This part is divided into two parts. First part is about the methods of PMD effect reduction and the second one is about the PMD compensation. The discrepancy between these two parts is the reduction way of PMD effect on transmitted channel. The compensation use the compensation components inserted into the transmission path. By PMD reduction methods we can solve the problems from the view of changing of fibre or all cable. For better understanding of polarization mode dispersion effect there are simulated 4 optical lanes of various parameters. The simulation output is the eye diagram which provides the view at results of transmission lane. In the final part there is the evaluation of measured parameters of optical lanes simulated in a laboratory.

Analyse Expérimentale des Distorsions Non-Linéaires pour la Construction d’un Estimateur de Performances des Réseaux Optiques Cohérents / Experimental Nonlinear Distorsion Analysis for the Design of Performance Estimator in Coherent Optical Networks

Jenneve, Philippe 14 December 2016 (has links)
Nowadays, high-speed fiber-optic communication networks are the basis of information technology and the subject of intense research. Innovation enables transponders to be flexible and versatile, but fiber optical networks are still configured manually and especially almost never tuned during the life of the network. One of the blocking points toward reconfigurable and automated optical networks is the need of performance prediction for any link of the network in an accurate and fast way. However, the prediction is made even more complex by the diversity of deployed optical fiber types and propagation regimes.During my work, I addressed experimentally the signal distortions coming from nonlinear Kerr effects accumulated on hundreds of kilometers of optical fibers. Based on specific and controlled experiments, I have measured and highlighted the properties of the nonlinear distortions. These analyses allowed me to design a performance model estimator that can be applied to heterogeneous optical links with various optical fiber types and propagation regimes. The flexibility of transponders associated with a performance estimator will optimize and tune the channels dynamically depending on the load and the topology of the network, as well as compute the protection and restoration links.

Estudo de formatos especiais na modulação digital para comunicações ópticas / Study of special modulation formats for optical communication

Silveira, Clenilson Rodrigues da 08 April 2009 (has links)
This MSc thesis investigates optical modulation formats as an alternative to the use of the traditional intensity binary format NRZ (Non-return-to-zero). Those formats, classified as advanced, represent one of the key technologies aimed to enable the high data volume and broadband, demanded by the present telecommunication market, with cost reduction of transmitted information per bit. Those technologies have been intensevely studied with purpose of overcoming the challenges imposed by the new generation of optical systems, with bit rates from 40 Gb/s. This work focuses on the study of modulation formats most discussed currently, presenting an overview of their main characteristics and implementation techniques. The performance of some intensity and phase formats, in terms of receiver sensitivity, optical filtering cascading, dispersion and nonlinear effects robustness, have been theoretically analyzed from simulations carried out with the commercial software Optisystem v. 7.0, of the Canadian company Optiwave Systems Inc. The analysis has been applied to real optical links, with characteristics that, potentially, demand their use. A cost analysis, based on estimated values associated to devices required for implementing the formats investigated in this work, is also presented. Among the formats studied, those based on RZ (Return-to zero) presented the highest receiver sensitivity and best tolerance to nonlinear effects, in comparison to their equivalent formats, based on NRZ. However, they are less tolerant to dispersive effects and optical filtering cascading. The duobinary format (DB) has shown a weak performance in terms of sensitivity, though has been proved to be the most tolerant to chromatic dispersion and filtering cascading effects. Among all formats, the phase modulation ones presented the highest resistance against nonlinear and dispersive effects.
