Synthesis of Anthracyclines Related to AdriamycinWhite, Roger J. 05 1900 (has links)
This dissertation reports the preparation of several types of anthraquinones structurally related to adriamycin. It describes the synthesis of two types of 2-aminoquinizarin compounds. It also presents two new syntheses of a heterocyclic tetracyclic ring system, similar to the aglicone ring system of adriamycin. A series of 2-aminoquinizarins was prepared by adding several primary amines to quinizarin. Quinizarin was shown to be essentially inert toward secondary amines. Several secondary amine adducts with quinizarin have been prepared, however, by treating the bis-boroacetate ester of quinizarin with the amines. Both types of 2-aminoquinizarin compounds exhibit outstanding potential for possessing antineoplastic activity, and several have been submitted to the National Cancer Institute for testing in their screening program for antineoplastic agents.

Effect of Jackfruit-Derived Extract Consumption on Colitis-Associated Colon Tumorigenesis in MiceLin, Jingwen 18 December 2020 (has links)
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the fourth most common cause of cancer-related death in the world. The global burden of colorectal cancer is also expected to increase by 60%, to over 2.2 million new cases and 1.1 million annual deaths, by the year 2030. Jackfruit is known for its packed nutrition including many antioxidants: vitamin C, carotenoids and flavanones. It has also been used in traditional medicine due to its potential protection against many chronic diseases. However, there is limited research studying the potential effect of jackfruit on colorectal cancer. Here, we used a well-established AOM/DSS mice model to investigate the impact of jackfruit-derived extracts on colitis-associated colorectal cancer. After 6-week treatment with diet containing 480 ppm jackfruit-derived extracts, the mice showed significantly alleviated colon tumorigenesis with a 46% decrease in tumor numbers of each mouse compared to vehicle group (2.1 ± 0.31 for 480 ppm jackfruit-derived fraction group vs 3.9 ± 0.67 for vehicle group, P < 0.05). The expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines (Il-6 and Inf- γ) and pro-tumorigenic genes (Axin2, Vegf, Myc and Pcna) was also decreased in the group consuming 480 ppm jackfruit-derived extracts compared to the vehicle group. Together the results suggest that the consumption of jackfruit-derived extracts could protect against colitis-associated colorectal carcinogenesis in mice.

In this work is described a compound distribution as well as a calculation of its characteristics. Especially, the thesis is focused on studying a special case of compound distribution where each addend has the log-normal distribution and their number has the negative binomial distribution. Here are also described some approaches to estimate the parameters of LN and NB distribution. Further, the impact of these estimates on the final compound distribution is analyzed.

On the basis of a literary study and design calculations was designed the compound tool, which will manufacture this component by 4 actions on the automated line containing rewinder, feeding levelling machine and eccentric press with designed compound tool. Economic calculations show that the designed manufacturing is profitable.

The thesis concerns the layout of manufacture technology of the bracket for TV wall mount. Based on a trade-off study of several technologies, a solution using a compound tool was selected as the most appropriate for given application. Non-alloy quality steel 11 321.1 was selected as a material for the bracket, with a synthetic paint applied as a surface finish. Analysis of manufacturing parameters was conducted, based on which the two-stroke crank press LKDR 200 was selected. Capability of that machine is sufficient in terms of press force and working space. Forming tools are made of high alloy tool steel 19 436.4, heat treated by quenching and annealing. An evaluation of economic aspects is included in the thesis.
