Analysis of Centralized and Decentralized Communication and Decision Making for Cooperating Autonomous UAVs

Hagelin, Philip January 2011 (has links)
This thesis describes the work performed at Saab Aeronautics in Linkoping during 2011. The work was to study and develop distributed and centralized methods for analysis of the decision making in a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In addition to this, some simple scenarios were studied and the work was implemented in C++ as the simulator ComDec. The literature review presented in the report provides knowledge of strategies for collaborative UAVs (communication and decision making), understanding of the problems/constraints that are relevant for data links and insight into the algorithms for decision making and autonomy. This work has resulted in a theoretical analysis of suitable design for decision making in a group of interacting autonomous UAVs. Existing methods for distributed and centralized decision making are implemented and a demonstration ofthe outcome are presented in the thesis. It is further shown how various communication problems and disturbances affect the decision making process. Finally, advantages and disadvantages of the selected strategies (communication and decision making) are discussed.

Perceived Roles, Resposibilities And Challenges Of Ct&#039 / s In The Procedure Of Teaching Practice Course In Practicum

Saglam, Gulderen 01 March 2007 (has links) (PDF)
This research study aims to investigate how cooperating teachers (CTs) in Partnership Schools working with pre-service teachers (PTs) from Universities in Ankara and Bursa reflect on challenges they face according to their own perceived roles and responsibilities in the process of implementing their complicated and demanding work to contribute to pre-service teacher training in schools. The present study specifically focuses on cooperating teachers&amp / #8217 / perceived challenges in relation to the feedback process and their cooperation with pre-service teachers to fulfill their roles and responsibilities to understand the nature of cooperating teachers&amp / #8217 / work, and how such recognition and understanding could empower all the parties involved- cooperating teachers and pre-service teachers with the aim of making the school experience more beneficial for pre-service teachers. The results of data collection show that CTs need further training in almost all aspects of their work directly related to the teaching learning environment in schools. Areas of their work that need improvement are also introduced, and recommendations to cope with challenges are presented.

What they see : noticings of secondary science cooperating teachers as they observe pre-service teachers

Rodriguez, Shelly R. 23 September 2013 (has links)
This dissertation explores what cooperating secondary science teachers attend to during observations of pre-service teachers as they enact lessons in their classrooms and how they make sense of what they see. This study applies the teacher noticing framework, recently used in research with mathematics, to the secondary science context and uses it to describe teacher attention. The study also aims to determine if cooperating teachers use the act of noticing to engage in pedagogical reasoning and draw connections to their own teaching practice. As an interpretive qualitative study, the format for data collection and analysis utilized a case-study methodology with cross-case analysis, and used semi-structured interviews, lesson debriefs, collected artifacts, and classroom observations. Data on the four study participants was collected over the 2011-2012 school year. Findings support several conclusions. First, the cooperating science teachers in this study regularly engaged in reflection and pedagogical reasoning through the act of noticing. Second, the cooperating teachers made regular connections to their own practice in the form of vicarious suggestions, reflective questions, comparisons of practice, and perspective shifts. These connections fostered the emergence of "pivotal moments" or times when the cooperating science teacher self-identified a desire to change their current practice. Third, cooperating teachers used observations of pre-service teachers in their classrooms as a form of professional experimentation and built knowledge in practice through the experience. Lastly, the findings suggest that observations of pre-service teachers be added to the list of professional development activities, like video analysis and lesson study, that help teachers reflect on their own practice. For science teacher educators, this study demonstrates the importance of attending to field experiences as a learning opportunity for the science cooperating teacher. It provides a new way of looking at classroom observations as professional development opportunities and it recommends that teacher preparation programs reconceptualize the tasks they ask cooperating teachers to engage in. Suggestions include designing observation tools that direct teacher noticing toward student learning in science, viewing cooperating science teachers as learners, including metacognitive activities for cooperating science teachers, and reorienting lesson debriefs toward a notion of classroom inquiry. / text

Changes in interns and cooperating teachers during music student teaching

Posegate, Stephen C., 1954- 09 1900 (has links)
xiv, 143 p. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / This descriptive study collected both qualitative data and quantitative data to gain an increased understanding of changes in interns and cooperating teachers during student teaching in music. Five dyads consisting of an intern and a cooperating teacher participated. I gathered quantitative data through analysis of 20 videotaped teaching episodes: one of each intern and cooperating teacher at the beginning and near the end of each placement. Two recognized experts in music student teaching viewed the episodes in randomized order. The experts scored the episodes on 30 items using the Survey of Teaching Effectiveness (STE). The experts also gave an overall rating of each lesson's quality. Additionally, I tallied statements of reinforcement as either specific or nonspecific and as either statements of approval or disapproval . An additional category was found during analysis: nonfunctional communication . I gathered quantitative and qualitative data with a one-page demographic survey and by individual interviews. Though the participants were unanimous in stating that the interns improved as teachers during the placement, no quantitative differences were found. Interns all experienced fulfilled expectations, effective preparation, capable application, increased professionalization, and successful induction. Cooperating teachers were agreed that their interns came into the placement prepared to be successful in student teaching. / Committee in charge: Harry Price, Chairperson, Music; Sharon Paul, Member, Music; David Doerksen, Member, Music; Roland Good, Outside Member, Special Education and Clinical Sciences

Verificação experimental da largura colaborante em mesas de lajes nervuradas. / Experimental verification the cooperating width in flange waffle slabs.

Paulo José Barreto Teixeira 26 October 2012 (has links)
This paper presents an experimental study to determine the cooperating width in flange waffle slabs of reinforced concrete. This width is usually established through the recommendations in the various rules and procedures already defined for reinforced concrete structures. In order to determine the width of the flange that effectively contributes to the ability of the resistant section slabs, models that sought to play tracks of panels and ribbed slab were tested and instrumented. The strips had two actual dimensions of main ribs, while the slab panels were reproduced on a reduced scale (1:2). In some of the models, electrical resistance strain gages were inserted in the reinforcement and in the concrete, and the arrows were checked by the transducers. The Widths were calculated from the curves of stress and the arrows were experimentally verified. The influence of a pipe embedded along the tracks of the flange slabs were also taken into consideration.

Spolupracující obviněný / Cooperating accused

Hula, Ondřej January 2016 (has links)

Health Policy and Agenda Setting in Contemporary Zambia: the human resources for health strategic plan (2006-2010)

Kabwe, Kabaso January 2012 (has links)
Masters in Public Administration - MPA / Agenda setting is about how some issues get onto the policy agenda for discussion and action why others do not. Drawing critically on the ―policy windows‖ approach of J.W Kingdon (2003) this dissertation will describe and explain the shifting of policy agendas in health with reference to human resources in Zambia between 2000 and 2006. This research explores how and why the issue of human resource shortages in health became prominent on the state‘s agenda in 2005.The research is a qualitative study and data was collected using both primary and secondary sources of data across various stakeholders in the country. It tested the applicability of Kingdon‘s conceptual framework to a case study of Zambian health policy by analysing the degree to which agenda-formation is influenced by such factors as issue definition, the presence of policy alternatives, presidential support, interest group advocacy, media attention, political cycles, and public opinion. The general elections scheduled for the following year, coupled with media attention and strong public action contributed to the selection of the human resource crisis as an issue on the state‘s agenda for serious action. Furthermore, the slow progress on the attainment of the health related Millennium Development Goals and the poor performance of some donor funded programmes necessitated the state to act. Despite some weaknesses, Kingdon‘s multiple streams approach was found to be useful in explaining the agenda-setting of the Human Resources for Health Strategic Plan (2006-2010) in Zambia.
