Tip-over stability analysis of crawler cranes in heavy lifting applications

Rishmawi, Sima 27 May 2016 (has links)
Cranes are often the most conspicuous machines on a construction site. This is due to their large size, in addition to the important role they have in transporting heavy payloads vertically and horizontally. There are two major families of construction cranes: tower cranes and mobile cranes. Mobile cranes that are mounted on tracks are a subgroup referred to as ``crawler cranes''. Crawler cranes are widely used on construction sites, and are a backbone of the United States construction industry, thus a detailed study of these cranes' behavior is essential. This research studies the tip-over stability of crawler cranes in heavy-lifting applications. Two major applications are discussed: crawler cranes using movable counterweights and crawler cranes in tandem lifting.

Analýza reálných XML dotazů / Analysis of Real-World XML Queries

Hlísta, Peter January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this master thesis was to gather and analyze the real-world XQuery programs. The data gathering process is performed using the crawler. The thesis contains analysis of different crawlers and the most suitable crawler was chosen. The crawler was modified, so that it did not overload servers, gathered the right data and was able to pause. Before the data gathering we analyzed where to start gathering and how long should it took. When the data was gathered, they needed to be cleaned and validated. The subjects of the analyses were use of the XQuery language and occurrences of XQuery grammar symbols. Combination of the XML representation of XQuery programs and XPath expressions for querying this representation was used to perform these analyses. XQConveror was used to create this XML representation. The main contributions of this thesis are the gathered data and the first real-world XQuery programs analysis.

Sistema de automatización de informes de levantamiento de flora

Moreno Palma, Edward Johans January 2018 (has links)

Enhancing a Web Crawler with Arabic Search.

Nguyen, Qui V. 25 July 2012
Many advantages of the Internetâ ease of access, limited regulation, vast potential audience, and fast flow of informationâ have turned it into the most popular way to communicate and exchange ideas. Criminal and terrorist groups also use these advantages to turn the Internet into their new play/battle fields to conduct their illegal/terror activities. There are millions of Web sites in different languages on the Internet, but the lack of foreign language search engines makes it impossible to analyze foreign language Web sites efficiently. This thesis will enhance an open source Web crawler with Arabic search capability, thus improving an existing social networking tool to perform page correlation and analysis of Arabic Web sites. A social networking tool with Arabic search capabilities could become a valuable tool for the intelligence community. Its page correlation and analysis results could be used to collect open source intelligence and build a network of Web sites that are related to terrorist or criminal activities.

The development of equipment to measure and monitor wear inside gun barrels : Application of the product development process / Utvecklandet av mätutrustning for övervakande och mätning av slitage i eldrör : Tillämpandet av produktutvecklingsprocessen

Perkovic, Emil January 2020 (has links)
The gun barrel is one of the most important parts of the whole artillery system. During firing, the wear leads to reduced performance and availability. Wear in gun barrels has different types of erosion mechanisms, in particular chemical-, thermal- and mechanical erosion. This takes place in the internal ballistic process when the projectile is fired from the gun barrel and it will affect the external ballistic parameters. Therefore, an equipment is needed to monitor and measure the wear inside different calibre gun barrels. Wear in gun barrels takes place under extreme conditions during firing due tohigh gas pressures and high temperatures arise as propellant burns. The present thesis aims to develop a type of measuring equipment that should be able to measure and monitor wear inside gun barrels between the diameter ranges of A-C mm. In this master thesis, the product development process has been adapted in order to reach the following goal which is to accomplish a technical solution for the problem associated with wear in gun barrels. The product development process is a systematical approach of developing new products. The different steps that have been evaluated are the product specification, generation of concepts, selection of concepts and layout- and detail design. Before these steps where performed, a project plan was done in order to organize the project. This was then followed by a literature review to obtain information about the problems in the project and to find inspiration from similar applications. The results of the product development process led to a concept of a moveable measure-head which uses a crawler to move inside the gun barrel and adapters to be able to use inside different calibre gun barrels. Then a rotating 3D-laser scanner to measure the change in diameter of the bore. A laser distance sensor and a receiver in order to measure the straightness and to be able to know the position of the moving measure-head in the gun barrel. At last, a wireless camera to monitor the wear inside the gun barrel. The selected concept has been developed and potential solutions for the problem have been described and formed. For the next phase of the project, the concept needs to be developed into a complete model. The next phase of the project is the prototype testing phase.

Robotic Platform for Internal Inspection

Cope, Brian Alexander 08 February 2013 (has links)
This thesis describes the design of a robotic inspection tool which is based on a differential track-drive platform. The robotic inspection tool is a one man-portable UGV that has been developed for the purpose of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and internal inspection of environments where human penetration may be difficult or hazardous. Various NDE and sensing techniques are described in this paper but the focus is on the mechanical and electrical design of the platform itself. The platform is a versatile device for mobile robotics research and development that supports a wide variety of instrumentation and payloads. Variable height control of the payload is achieved with a scissor lift assembly that provides accurate positioning of equipped sensors and instrumentation. The architecture of the platform was designed to support future autonomous implementations. / Master of Science
