O resultado foi a seguinte relação: ((cancelloae (gnaspini (ibitipoca (atibaiensis + valinhensis)))) (boraceana + caissara) (ribeiraopirensis) (brevipennis (ricardoi + elinae)), (apiaiensis (tamandarensis + campolargoensis)) (cerroazulensis (guapiarana (arataca (leo (adrianopolensis + atratus)))))). O presente trabalho traz a descrição de 22 espécies novas, a redescrição e transferência de Strinatia teresopolis para um gênero novo, assim como a chave de identificação / Abstract: Cricket species that are directly related to the hypogean environment have their own special problems for conservation: the intrinsic fragility and distinct aspects of these communities, including the high rate of endemism, morphology, ecology and the different behaviors between troglophyles. The presence of a new cave species of the genus Strinatia allowed the taxonomic study and the elaboration of a phylogenetic hypothesis for this unique group. The result was the following relationship: ((cancelloae (gnaspini (ibitipoca (atibaiensis + valinhensis)))) (boraceana + caissara) (ribeiraopirensis) (brevipennis (ricardoi + elinae)), (apiaiensis (tamandarensis + campolargoensis)) (cerroazulensis (guapiarana (arataca (leo (adrianopolensis + atratus)))))). The study shows the description of 22 new species, redescription and change of Strinatia teresopolis for a new genus and the identification key the genus / Doutor

Parasites of the Cricket Frog, Acris Crepitans, of Denton County, Texas

Block, Edward F. 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was threefold. The literature concerning parasites of A. crepitans was to be brought up to date. Contributions to the general body of knowledge pertaining to the parasitic fauna of host specimens of A. crepitans and specifically those found in Denton County, Texas, were to be made. Finally, specimens found parasitizing host specimens of A. crepitans were to be preserved and classified.

Co-opetition between the cricket franchises in South Africa

Nazeer, Jameel 29 July 2012 (has links)
The study is related to the business of sport. The purpose of this study was to explore the business strategy of co-opetition within the cricket franchises in South Africa. Brandenburger and Nalebuff (1996) defined co-opetition as the combination of forms of cooperation and competition between companies. Stein and Ginevicius (2010) recently conducted research related to co-opetition and believed that the most successful contribution so far has been the book “Coopetition” by Brandenburger and Nalebuff (1996). However, they also argued that the book has fundamental structural and methodological flaws. There is limited research on co-opetition within a sports context. Future research could develop and conduct empirical studies related to the drivers, dynamics, and outcomes of co-opetition (Park, 2010). The research examined the conditions in which cricket franchises engage in co-opetition and how they achieve positive outcomes through co-opetition. The drivers and the players of co-opetition within the franchises were also investigated. Qualitative research in the form of in-depth interviews with the CEOs of the cricket franchises were carried out. A “Co-opetition Ecosystem” model was derived from the interviews and literature. / Dissertation (MBA)--University of Pretoria, 2012. / Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) / unrestricted

Assessing Decision Rules For Stopped Cricket Games

Bhatti, Ahsan 06 1900 (has links)
In interrupted limited overs cricket games, teams do not always get a chance to finish the full game. In such cases, different methods can be used to establish which team wins. The method currently in use is called the Duckworth-Lewis method; it was introduced at the international level in 1998. The purpose of this project is to investigate and check the accuracy of Duckworth-Lewis method and make statistical comparisons with other proposed methods. The accuracy is checked via bias estimation, Cohen's Kappa and root mean square error methods; cross-validation is used to assess out-of-sample accuracy. The resource table, a summary of the expected fraction of total runs scored by a given point in the game, has missing values and monotonicity flaws. To improve the resource table, different statistical methods such as isotonic regression and Gibbs sampling, are used to construct different resource surfaces. The accuracy results show that the Duckworth-Lewis displays the lowest accuracy out of all the methods; whereas, the improved Duckworth-Lewis is more accurate at predicting the new target or results of stopped games. Thus, the accuracy of the Duckworth- Lewis can be improved by ignoring the old games and constructing the resource surface using the modern data. / Thesis / Master of Science (MSc)

A profile of injuries and contributing factors in premier league cricket players in the greater Durban area

Tychsen, Rory Arthur Ludwig January 2009 (has links)
Dissertation submitted in partial compliance with the requirements for the Master's Degree in Technology: Chiropractic, Durban University of Technology, 2009. / Objective: Literature has focused its efforts on professional cricket players and player related risk factors to injury with little information being available with regards to coaching / management and environmental risk factors to injury. Therefore, this study aimed to profile the injuries and risk factors in Premier League club cricketers in the greater Durban area. Methods: This was a prospective, cross-sectional based study, using a self-administered questionnaire, developed specifically for this research utilizing a focus group and pilot study. The questionnaire consisted of a demographics section, as well as an injury history and risk factor section. Letters of informed consent and questionnaire were distributed to 144 players / coaches for completion. Data was analysed using Pearson‟s correlation and t-tests. Results: A response rate of 70% (n=109) was achieved. Selected parameters from demographics, injury history and risk factors were found to be significantly related to current and / or previous injury. Conclusion: It is advised that coaches heed significant injury parameters in order to improve player health, decrease injury risk and decrease time out of play. Key words: Athletic injuries; questionnaires; cross-sectional study‟s; risk factors; sports; sports medicine; risk assessment; cricket.
