This thesis deals with the image of the First Czechoslovak Republic as presented in history textbooks in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The main goal of the thesis is to reflect the approach to and transformation of the way the First Republic was depicted in the history textbooks issued between 1948 and 2004. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly outlines the development of school structure and curricular documents in the period observed as well as the transformation of historiographical production with respect to the Czechoslovak interwar history. Furthermore, the key terms are defined that are based on crucial topics and generalizations of the present-day Czech historiographical production. These terms are then studied in history textbooks in six periods matching the chronology of education reforms and subsequently analyzed in terms of explanation and interpretation methods. The final part of the thesis presents each of the observed interpretation changes in relation to the selected key terms. The greatest textbook alterations were found in connection with the change of the social and political circumstances after the fall of the Communist regime.

The author will perform an analysis of news, comments, documentaries and other articles in which the selected Czech printed media reported about the events in Yugoslavia during the years 1945-1948. He will observe not only the news regarding political events or economic development in the country, but also the articles reflecting the everyday life in Yugoslavia (cultural events, national relationships, religion, tourism etc.). The analysis will be chronologically bounded by May 1945 (liberation of Czechoslovakia) and June 1948 (publication of so called first resolution of Inform Bureau). Heuristic base of the thesis will be chosen in a such a way, so it covers political stratification of the Czech public sector during that period. The author will be therefore analyzing relevant articles from the periodicals that were being published either by KSC (Czechoslovakian communist party) or its closed partners (Rude Pravo, Kulturni Politika). He will also investigate articles from the daily journal Svobodne Slovo, which was being published by the Czechoslovakian Social Party as well as part of the Lidova Demokracie journal; the news outlet of Czechoslovak People's Party. Domestic trade in the centrally planned economy, has been confronted with the lack of inputs and outputs, which did not allow to fully respond to the increasing demand of the population. In this thesis is elaborated the development of this area, especially by the historical, critical analysis and descriptive method, whose goal is to take down the development of domestic trade in the context of the economic development of preferred industries. The thesis is divided into two main chapters, that resolves issues chronologically starting with 1948 to the 80s, then the period of the 80s themselves is watched, which is the most emphasised one, together with concretization on district Mělník. The first chapter deals with theory, the second is practical part. The result shows the development of the domestic trade delayed and forced by the economic situation. Shortages in the supply of the residents, together with other factors, have enforced economic reforms leading to the inclusion of the market elements. However, the success of the measures taken was minimal.

The diploma thesis analyses czechoslovakian society between 1948 and 1989 with help of ethical blindness concept. It focuses on former living conditions, ways of perceiving socialist system and how public adapted to it. Ethical blindness is a state of mind which makes us blind for the ethical dimension of our decision. It is unintentional and usually short-term, caused by individual characteristics and very strong context. The hypothesis lays in assumptions that ethical blindness was present during the communist era in Czechoslovakia and can be used to interpret passiveness of former public and its consequences. The thesis conerns also those who managed to release themselves from ethical blindness.

This thesis dealt with economic reforms in Czechoslovakia and the German Democratic Republic in the 60s of the 20th century and their impact on economic, political and social development of society. The first part is focused on Czechoslovakia and assumptions and principles of reforms, finished with the so-called Šiks reform, which was canceled in 1968. In the second part of the thesis are the reform efforts in the GDR compared directly with the reforms in Czechoslovakia and their overall impact on future development of the two socialist states. Finally, the work evaluates contribution of the reforms and possibility of their implementation in practice.

My thesis deals with the Great Depression on the 1930's, which was one of the biggest economic disasters of last century. It follows especially the course and consequences of the crisis in Czechoslovakia. There are still many questions about this event and economists of whole world have never agreed on the only explanation, which could describe and solve all the causes and circumstances of Great Depression. In addition, there are also many views that the crisis had influence not only in economic sphere, but also had the social and political impacts. First part deals with international connections of Great Depression and searches causations of crisis in economic theory and describes the birth of Great Depression in United States. Second and third parts analyze the beginning and running of the crisis in Czechoslovakia and deal with particular sections of economy. The fourth part summaries economic and political effects of the crisis in Czechoslovakia and shows how the country faced up to depression.

This paper presents an enquiry into Soviet reforms under Gorbachev and Czechoslovak communist regime under Husak. The aim of the paper is to examine the possible influence of development in the USSR on the break-down of the Czechoslovak communist regime.

The master thesis discusses Czechoslovak-Israelis relations in years 1948 -- 1953. The paper describes a wobble in Czechoslovak foreign policy, which initially diplomatically and materially supported the formation of State Israel in post-war years and in a period closely after the communistic putsch in the Czechoslovak republic. Later, the relation between states was described like unfriendly. The paper attends the particular aspects of declining cooperation -- questions of emigration, ordnance supply, diplomatically relations and pressure of political trials to correlation. In fine, it could be resume that the Czechoslovak republic turned its traditional policy of friendship to Jews at Soviet commands. Czechoslovakia brought in elements of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism to interrelationship. The paper ends in the year 1953, when the hostile relations between both states were accomplished.
