Možnosti využití oblačných produktů družicových dat / Usage possibilities of the cloud products of satellite datasets

Šácha, Petr January 2012 (has links)
Title Usage possibilities of the cloud products of satellite datasets Author: Bc. Petr Šácha Department: Department of Meteorology and Environment Protection Supervisor: RNDr. Petr Pišoft Ph.D. Supervisor's e-mail address: Petr.Pisoft@mff.cuni.cz Abstract: Cloudiness plays an important role in the global energy and water cycle. In particular, the presence of clouds dominates the planetary albedo and takes part in many climate feedback processes. In this thesis a short informational overview of remote sensing, a description of EUMETSAT, satellites, which it used, its part CM- SAF and a search retrieval of current research is given at first. Then the study is focused on the cloud satellite products, especially on CFC (cloud fractional cover) and CTY (cloud type) products. Data sets of daily averages of these products are compared with the daily averages created from the surface SYNOP observations of the total cloud cover and cloud type in the area of the Czech Republic. In the case of big variances between the two examined datasets of daily averaged cloud coverage, possible causes like the sampling error, dependence on season, localization of the station and the elevation and type of cloudiness, are searched. Several statistic analyses and validation scores are computed. Finally, possibilities of the examined...

Studium rozpadů B-mezonů v experimentu Belle / Study of B-meson decays in the Belle experiment

Krištof, Michal January 2020 (has links)
In the thesis we study the decay of B0 meson to D∗ s and ρ mesons. The thesis explains the methods and approaches to data analysis in so-called B-factories, simmilar to the KEKB accelerator. The aim of this thesis is to calculate the branching fraction of this decay to further improve the previously measured branching ratio at BaBar experiment with additional data gained from an ex- periment with higher integrated luminosity. This thesis's prospect is not only broadening our knowledge of branching fractions of B0 meson decays, but also it is a starting point for further analysis with the goal of broadening our knowl- edge of CP symmetry violation in the Standard Model by measuring angles of the Unitary Triangle. 1

Dížková, Petra January 2018 (has links)
Diploma thesis named „Analysis of phenological data for given species in protected landscape area Pálava within south Moravia region“ is focused partly on processing phenological historical database which includes pheno data about various birds populations. Thesis is also focused on field observations at various exeprimental sites, especially area Pálava. Historical records came from two localities in south Moravia since 1970 till 2003 according to given species and locality. Elaboration of phenological series and trends is done for three bird species - the Great Tit (Parus major), the Blue Tit (Parus caeruleus) and the Eurasian nuthatch (Sitta europaea). For final elaboration of phenological series the computer tool AnClim was used. The results showed earlier onset of mean laying day for great tit and blue tit (by 1.1. – 5 days within the decade). Also the trend analysis showed agreement within the phenological series when comparing trends among each other or among different sites.

Sampling Fusion: Ekvivalence měření tří módů sběru dat / Sampling Fusion: Measurement invariance of three modes of data collection

Rybín, Filip January 2021 (has links)
The questionnaire survey is a key tool for examining social phenomena, but like society as a whole, it is undergoing development and needs to be subjected to constant analysis in order to improve it. The approach of mixed modes of data collection can then be used to evaluate and compare individual modes at the level of measurement invariance in order to point out their degree of measurement accuracy and to evaluate similarity or difference. Through the analysis of political participation, preference and measurement accuracy for three different modes of data collection - CATI, CAWI and CAWI with sampling frame of social network Facebook, clear differences of individual modes were defined and the recommendation of their combination was stated in order to use the strengths they offer, while minimizing the errors associated with them.

Correlating masters performance with undergraduate predictors in Boston University's Pre-Dental Postbaccalaureate Master's Program

Peters, Christopher Bruno 08 March 2024 (has links)
The Master’s in Oral Health Sciences (OHS) program at Boston University, affiliated with BU Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM), is a branch of Graduate Medical Sciences located within the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. The program was initiated in 2005 to serve as a pathway for students from underrepresented groups to enhance their academic credentials and gain admission to dental school. Taking previous studies into account, this investigation aimed to (1) determine whether working during the undergraduate degree program impacted undergraduate performance, as measured by the student’s cumulative grade point average (GPA); (2) determine whether performance improved during OHS, a program during which a student is assumed to not work due to the program’s academic rigor, as measured by the student’s OHS GPA; and (3) determine whether specific academic factors (e.g. subsection scores on the Dental Admission Test [DAT], certain undergraduate courses such as upper-level biology or upper-level math courses, etc.) were associated with success in coursework and thus could serve as positive predictors for admissions and future success in dental school. Data was obtained using (a) available deidentified applications to the OHS program and (b) available deidentified American Dental Education Association Associated American Dental Schools Application Service applications to BUGSDM for five OHS class years: 2016-2020. Analysis of variance was used to determine if statistically significant relationships existed between academic parameters. It was found that significant relationships existed between OHS GPA and (1) the following DAT subsection scores: perceptual ability, quantitative reasoning, biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, total science, and academic average and (2) the following undergraduate courses: Biology I, Biology II, and General Chemistry I. Those students earning a B or better in Biology I, Biology II, and General Chemistry I courses were found to have a graduate (OHS program) GPA 0.03-0.04 points higher than the mean. Additionally, those students earning lower DAT scores in the BI (17), GC (18), and OC (18) subsections earned a lower overall OHS GPA. Students earning higher DAT scores in the BI (19), GC (20), and OC (19) subsections earned a higher overall OHS GPA. These relationships were found to be statistically significant. The implications of this study can extend to other U.S. pre-dental post-baccalaureate programs and dental programs and be used as positive predictors for academic success and in admissions.
