Stanovení státní hranice Československa s Polskem / Determination of the state border betwen Czechoslovafia and PolandHochel, Miroslav January 2020 (has links)
- 1 - Determination of the state border between Czechoslovakia and Poland Abstract This thesis deals with the question of determination of the state border between Czechoslovakia and Poland. The first chapter deals with issues related to the formation of both states and the concept of common borders, which were prepared by leading members of the Czechoslovak political representation during the World War. This chapter also deals with the presentation of the territorial requirements of Czechoslovakia at the Paris Peace Conference and related diplomatic negotiations in the context of this peace conference. The second chapter focuses on the issue of Těšínsko, which may have become the most important aspect of border disputes between the two countries concerned. The individual subchapters discuss in detail the establishment of Czechoslovak and Polish authorities in this area, their mutual negotiations, as well as the subsequent military engagement. However, special attention is given to the issue of following diplomatic negotiations, the planned referendum and, finally, the decision of the Conference of Ambassadors, as a result of which the disputed territory of Těšínsko was divided. The third chapter of this thesis focuses on the territory of Orava and Spiš. There was a further conflict of Czechoslovak and...

Vybrané problémy vymezení venkova / Selected problems of the rural delimitationBednářová, Hana January 2010 (has links)
This work is an attempt to define an alternative definition of rural as compared with the OECD methodology applied to the NUTS 3 units. In the specific nature of the Czech population is necessary to use other methods of defining rural. Bibliography outlines other possible ways of definic, as a empirical research reflects a descriptive approach to the definition of rural based on statistical indicators which are assessed in seven groups. The results are shown in the cartograms. Differences between rural and urban areas are in the Czech Republic according to the chosen methodology very small or not visible. Countryside as defined by statistical indicators have shown similar results as the definition of internal peripherals. The chosen method for the identification is very difficult and demanding. The results are largely influenced by the threshold value for each indicator. Keywords: delimination, country, rural, delimitation, rural areas

Species Delimitation Predictions Using Mitochondrial and Nuclear DNA Sequences from the Heteromys pictus-spectabilis Species ComplexBateman, Joanna Rosa 01 August 2018 (has links)
Heteromys pictus-spectabilis is a species complex within the subfamily Heteromyinae (Family: Heteromyidae) that is distributed along the western and southern Mexican coast and surrounding environments. Currently, the species complex is accepted as being 2 separate species (H. pictus and H. spectabilis), but this also renders H. pictus paraphyletic. Therefore, the species complex requires re-evaluation in order to resolve the paraphyly. Mitochondrial DNA sequences from a previously existing ~720 specimen database compiled by Victoria Vance were used in conjunction with new nuclear DNA sequences sequenced for the purpose of this study to generate multiple phylogenetic trees via the software programs RAxML, BEAST, and MrBayes to evaluate how different haplotype networks were related to each other. Using these molecular datasets in consideration with Kimura two-parameter values, time calibrations via BEAST, and the relative geographic locations of the haplotype networks, the results strongly indicate this species complex is composed of multiple cryptic species and potentially multiple genera. This was a preliminary exploration into this species complex however, and future research will be required to verify these findings.

Greek-Turkish Ideational Antagonism and Exclusive Economic Zones : A Discourse Analysis of the EU Response to the Erdogan Regime Challenging UNCLOS in the Eastern MediterraneanIoannou Naoum, Christos January 2023 (has links)
This paper emphasizes a social constructivist theoretical viewpoint when looking to analyze the EEZ dispute in the Eastern Mediterranean between Turkey and Greece. The recent authoritarian shift taken by Turkey, moving away from EU and international law values under the regime of President Erdogan has caused an aggravation of the chronically present tensions with its EU neighbour and NATO ally. The growing chasm away from democracy internally reflected in the waters of the Eastern Mediterranean, especially in light of the recent gas discoveries and elections on both sides, destabilizing the region majorly. Through Discourse Analysis (DA), the EU response to these orally-inflamed Greek-Turkish tensions regarding their overlapping EEZ claims in this specific geopolitical context is examined, taking into account the ideational, identity, and normative factors that are largely at play. In this way, an exploration is made concluding that EU collective identity and its mechanisms are perceiving themselves as threatened, based on the extent and potency of their reaction in terms of political rhetoric and institutional documents delineating the parameters of its collective identity and shaping EU foreign policy so far toward Turkey’s EEZ denial in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the time frame January 2019- February 2023.
