Att göra en ekoby

Pedersen, Ronja January 2022 (has links)
As the urban norm in Sweden turned during the years of the covid-19 pandemic, more people became interested in moving to the countryside and living a more authentic and sustainable life. One way of living a sustainable life is through eco-villages. The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper insight into the driving forces behind people's interest in living in an eco-village and how these driving forces contribute to the discursive creation of Bysjöstrands eco-village. The empirical material consists of expressions of interest and participant observations of conversations between the project manager of Bysjöstrand eco-village and stakeholders. The material is analysed with political discourse theory and the logics perspective. The majority of the stakeholders are drawn to the eco-village by utopic fantasies consisting of an imagined community spirit in the future eco-village. The utopic fantasies also consist of articulations of a "good and sustainable life" that consists of self-sufficiency through farming and animal husbandry, which can be interpreted as resistance to commercially produced food, alternative living as resistance to commercial living and housing, and through articulations of proximity to nature and beautiful landscapes and a wish to live a more sustainable life together with others of the same interest.
