Prostorová analýza mzdové diskriminace matek v České republice / Spatial Analysis of the Motherhood Wage Gap in the Czech Republic

Vlčková, Radka January 2019 (has links)
Using the Czech household microdata, I analyze the regional variations of the motherhood wage gap in the Czech Republic. By this spatial analysis, I aim to detect discrepancies between metropolitan areas and rural localities. Such a study has not yet been carried out in the Czech Republic. Accounting for individual characteristics and working history of employed women, I ob- serve both positive and negative wage gaps but only in several regions. Such findings can be explained by cultural differences, individual self-selection into higher paid jobs or by employers' approach to mothers. For the remaining regions, there is not enough evidence of the motherhood wage gap presence. The hypothesis that in socially excluded localities the wage gap is largest is rejected. Additional examination of the formal childcare provision shows that increase of the kindergartens' occupancy rate significantly decreases salaries of both mothers and childless women. This result is consistent with the previous Czech research. Keywords Motherhood wage gap, Spatial analysis, Czech Republic, Kindergarten JEL classifications D63, J13, R23 1

Rovné zacházení a zákaz diskriminace v pracovněprávních vztazích a systémech sociálního zabezpečení v českém a evropském právu / Equal treatment and prohibition of discrimination in employment relations and social security systems in Czech and European law

Jandová, Darina January 2019 (has links)
Equal treatment and prohibition of discrimination in employment relations and social security systems in Czech and European law Abstract The dissertation deals with equal treatment and prohibition of discrimination in employment relations and social security systems in Czech and European law. In the introductory section the historical context of anchoring the principle of equality into the legal regulation is outlined. The attention is paid on one hand to the social changes in the first half of the 20th century, which led to the protection of equality in Europe, and on the other to the legislative initiatives and the role of justice in the second half of the 20th century. The second part explains the concepts of equality, discrimination, employment relations and social security systems, which are the central motifs of the dissertation. It analyses how these concepts were viewed in the past, how they evolved, and in what forms and manifestations we can come across them today. The third part introduces the Czech and European legislation, which constitute the current Anti-Discrimination law. Emphasis is placed on the assessment of the Czech Anti- Discrimination Act with regard to its almost ten years of effectiveness in the Czech legal order. The author concludes that despite the facts that the protection...

Matky manažerky - lze zvládat mateřství i kariéru? / Mother managers - can manage motherhood and career?

Kaňoková, Kateřina January 2012 (has links)
7 ABSTRACT Topic: Mothers manager - can cope with motherhood and career? is topical and is an area where there are still certain provisions regarding gender equality, which indicates the fact that women are represented only less than a third, although almost half the working population. It is clear that career managers are affected by many factors that are slowing down, which probably has the most significant effect of motherhood. In their qualitative research, I took aim at women who work as managers and have small children. Analyze in detail the four key areas: the experience of women returning after maternity / parental leave for managerial position, the impact of motherhood on their careers, strategies and experiences in balancing work and family and any experience with any form of discrimination in the labor market. The basic research question was: "What are the challenges facing the mother-manager gender inequality in our society?"

Ženy v motoristickém sportu - dekorace? Konkurence? / Women in Motorsport - Decoration? Competition?

Mikoláš, Michal January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the issue of gender equality in motorsport. It aims to carry out two main tasks. The first is based on description and explanation of the current position of female racers in motorsport (are they considered a regular part of motorsport and do they constitute a competition for male racers, or are they just decorative anomalies?). Motorsport is one of the very few mixed sports. The second task is to answer the question whether it would be useful to establish separated women-only categories, which might attract more racers. The thesis consists of two key parts. The explanatory section of this text presents a theoretical explanation of the contemporary situation (using the theory of the lenses of gender). The empirical part is derived from expert interviews and interviews with top Czech female racers. The conclusion of the thesis is a compilation of findings provided by both parts of the text. The essential result is the need to preserve mixed competition which would be free of socio-cultural barriers which hinder the beginnings of women in motorsport.

Vymezení rasismu jako veřejněpolitického problému ve vládních dokumentech: Analýza diskursu z let 1989 - 2014 / The Delimitation of a racism as a policy problem in governmental documents: Analysis of discourse since 1989 to 2014

Hon, Matěj January 2015 (has links)
This diploma thesis is mainly focused on term racism, especially how the term racism is used in government documents. The author's point of view is based on social constructivism. Author focuses on way of understanding constructions of the term racism made by relevant policy- makers. The goals of this thesis are descriptive (the description of a discourse in government documents and its broader context) and explanatory (an explanation of an interaction of the discourse and its context). The broader context is found by the event history analysis and by an analysis of stakeholders. The discourse analysis is based on texts found in government documents. The results of these analyses show racism as a complex problem including a wider category of social phenomena related to the disadvantaged situation of ethnic minority groups. Nevertheless we are able to identify several competing approaches to this problem delimitation. Two of them consider racism in context of various social problems having different views on causality between these two levels. Two other approaches link racism with security policy and differ with emphasis on preventive and repressive tools.

Diskriminace na základě zdravotního postižení jako specifická oblast antidiskriminačního práva? / Disability Discrimination as a Specific Field of Anti-Discrimination Law?

Nehasilová, Pavla January 2015 (has links)
Disability Discrimination as a Specific Field of Anti-Discrimination Law? The aim of this thesis is to put together a complex material discussing disability discrimination from the perspective of anti-discrimination law. Firstly, however, it acquaints the reader with a broader theoretical context and therefore it briefly explains the concept of discrimination and its relationship to the constitutional value of equality. The question, which like a red thread meanders through the following chapters of the thesis, asks whether this type of discrimination is really so much different to deserve such a degree of special approach, which it receives from both the legislators and the judiciary. This thesis gradually collects findings and information so it could in the end at least indicate the answer to this umbrella question. For this purpose, it presents various models of thinking about disability, namely a medical model and a social model, which in many cases contradict each other. The thesis nevertheless tries to find an ideal combination of them. Furthermore it provides a detailed analysis of relevant legal and judicial definitions of disability as a concept of law, both at the level of international law as well as European and Czech law. Subsequently, it identifies specific characteristics of the...

Falteisková, Sabina January 2014 (has links)
The Prohibition of Racial Discrimination in the Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights The subject of this thesis is the prohibition of racial discrimination on a regional scale, which is discussed in relation to the European Court of Human Rights and its case law. Race and ethnicity is seen mainly in terms of the Roma ethnicity, which is obviously not the only one who is in Europe facing the racial discrimination. Given the scope of the thesis it is not possible to address more groups belonging to the above mentioned category. The subject matter is elaborated by methods such as compilation, comparison and partially also analysis. The introductory chapter of the thesis contains general interpretation of equality and non-discrimination with explanations of important terms and concepts. The next chapter provides an overview of the prohibition of racial discrimination in human rights documents of the key international organizations. Closer attention in this...
