Discrimination of women in the labor law This diploma paper deals with the problem of discrimination of women in the labor law while discrimination being one of the biggest phenomenons of modern society. Its main objective is to provide an overview of current legislation, which deals with prohibition of discrimination based on sex in labor law relations. Je úmrtí matky důležitější pro dívky a úmrtí otce pro chlapce? Analýza z rozvojových zemí / Is Maternal Death more important for Girls and Paternal Death for Boys? An Analysis from Developing Countries

Klepetko, Tomáš January 2016 (has links)
Parental death has the potential to deteriorate various outcomes of children in the developing world. One of such outcomes is education: when a parent dies, resources are reduced, psychological distress increased, so is the necessity to replace the parent in some of their duties. Literature commonly distinguishes impacts of maternal and paternal death on education of children. Nevertheless, no papers focus directly on the interaction between gender of the deceased parent and of the orphaned child. This thesis tests empirically the hypothesis that maternal death is more important for girls and paternal death for boys. The reasoning is that mothers typically spend more time caring about little children and about household generally, so after maternal death it is necessary to find a substitute for this role and it is more likely to find one among the daughters than among the sons. Subsequently, the daughter is at a higher risk of dropping out of school due to higher responsibilities at home. Fathers, on the contrary, are primarily income-earners, so after paternal death it becomes more likely that one of the sons replaces the deceased father on labour market than one of the daughters. The son then becomes more likely to stop attending school than any of the daughters. Using cross-sectional data from...

Experimentální výzkum diskriminace matek na pracovním trhu / Experimental Investigation of Discrimination of Mothers in the Labor Market

Kočová, Alžběta January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to determine the degree of discrimination of mothers in the Czech labor market during employee selection. We conduct an Internet field experiment which allows us to study the effect of the different lengths of parental leave on the probability of being invited for a job interview. We test three years long parental leave, a typical length in the Czech environment, against two years long parental leave as the shortest usual length, using a mother long after parental leave as our third control group. We found a slight preference for the three years parental leave, but we cannot confirm the hypothesis of three years leave being significantly preferred to two years leave at conventional confidence levels. The most significant is the result where resume of high-quality was sent. The results about the role of social norms from a survey among hiring specialists indicate that from two opposing effects - losing knowledge and working experience the longer a mother is on parental leave, versus losing flexibility at work the younger her child is - none is of higher concern if comparing three years leave and two years leave. Rovné zacházení a zákaz diskriminace zaměstnanců / Equal treatment and prohibited discrimination against employees

Ciencialová, Andrea January 2011 (has links)
Resumé Equal treatment and non-discrimination are rules that are essential in international law, European law and national law. They are regulated in many international documents, in terms of European law, especially, in the regulations and directives. Czech Republic, as one of the member States of the European Union is obliged to ensure compliance of national law with European law. It was therefore necessary in order to ensure compliance with requirements of the EC / EU in the field of equal treatment and non-discrimination of employees that are regulated in anti-discrimination directives with our national law. This happened by adoption of Act No. 198/2009 Coll., Anti-Discrimination Act, which as a general law governing these principles. In my works I deal with treatment of these principles in the documents of international law and international organizations active in this area in the primary and secondary law of the EC/EU and also the current modification in our legal system. My work is divided into an introduction, six sections and a conclusion. The first part of my work deals with the basic concepts relevant to this area, such as equality, equal treatment, discrimination and its types, as direct or indirect, and others. In the second part I focused on the modification of the principle of equal...

Informovanost romského obyvatelstva v oblasti stomatologické péče / Awareness of the Roma population in dental care

KARÁSKOVÁ, Pavla January 2016 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the issue of the dental care of the Roma patients. Major fields of interest were the awareness of Roma in different aspects of the dental care and the willingness of dentists to register Roma patients in their surgery. For this thesis was originally planned to use the qualitative research but the pilot study showed that quantitative research would be better option. Dentists were willing to fill in questionnaires but they had no time for interviews due to the big amount of their work duties. I chose questionnaires also for Roma respondents. Thanks to them I gathered more pieces of information from majority of Roma population than if I had used the qualitative research. For each group involved in the research were created different questionnaires. Questionnaires were created by me. The first aim of this thesis was to find out how informed and how willing are Roma population in case of preventive dental examinations. Results show that the willingness to undergo preventive examinations has more than half of respondents. Positively answered 61 percent of registered Roma and 57 percent of dentists answered that Roma undergo preventive examinations. When we compared the awareness of registered Roma respondents with unregistered Roma respondents, registered Roma respondents are more informed than unregistered Roma respondents. For example in the case of information about payments for medical acts which are paid by health insurance companies, 70 percent of registered Roma respondents and only 30 percent of unregistered Roma respondents have awareness about it. The second aim of this thesis was to find out the willingness of dentists to register Roma in their surgeries. It was obvious to me that most of the dentists don't accept new patients due to the capacity. For this reason I asked a question: "If you accept new patients, will you accept Roma?" 57 percent of dentists answered that they would register Roma. If there does exist cooperation between Roma and social worker, the willingness of dentists to register Roma increases and reaches 84 percent. This big difference corresponds to negative experience which dentists have with Roma. It means that assistance of the social worker can positively affect relationships and communication between dentists and Roma patients. Problem in communication is not only on the side of Roma population. All health workers should compulsorily study the issue of multicultural education. If they understand historical values and customs of different cultures, there is a possibility to eliminate culture barriers, intolerance, prejudice and discrimination. These facts perhaps in hidden form are mostly the main reason not to accept the patient. In case of effective communication and building mutual trust Roma patients can better understand rules which are required by dentist and gain information which are important to prevent problems with toothache, financial expenses, and ultimately, with esthetics. The research revealed that Roma, according to answers of dentists, neglect dental hygiene and dental care of their children. Dental hygiene of Roma patients was identified as inadequate by 54 percent of dentists. Only 14 percent of dentists are satisfied with the dental hygiene of children. It would be very suitable to use in preschool facilities services of dental hygienists that can help children learn appropriate hygienic habits and through "homeworks" pass gained information to other family members. A summary of possible solutions to problems of dental care of Roma is therefore effective communication between Roma patient and dentist which would be possible by implementation of multicultural education of all health workers and cooperation with the social worker as a mediator between them.

Genderové stereotypy u Policie ČR / Gender stereotypes in the Police of the Czech Republic

SCHMIDT, Lukáš January 2012 (has links)
This thesis highlights the issue of gender stereotypes in the Police of the Czech Republic - among policemen and policewomen who serve at the Regional headquarters of the Police in České Budějovice. The thesis also deals with the demands of the profession and the comparison of gender differences between men and women in this profession. In addition to a simple division of each part of the police and its structure, the history of gender issues is described in detail, as well as examples of stereotypical behaviour, its origins and causes. The thesis deals with the position of women in the society, both in the historical perspective and in the present time. Statistical data are listed here as well as and the numbers of police officers in service - men and women. The thesis focuses on a specific group of police employees - policemen and policewomen officers and police officer working in the town of České Budějovice. The gender issues are a very interesting topic. Differences between male and a female are not only physical, but the individuals of opposite sexes assess each other with the help of learned or acquired stereotypes that they brings from their original families. Gender stereotypes influence the lives of people in this society and they can be found in police staff as well. Considering the growing number of women within the Police of the Czech Republic, there are frequent conflicts between the two sexes. This paper discusses the ways in which the individual members of the opposite sexes perceive their counterparts. The way they are perceived in the emotional as well as the professional domains. The research was conducted using the method of a semantic differential by means of a questionnaire and 100 respondents, policemen as well as policewomen, took part in it.
