Introdução às equações diferenciais ordinárias no contexto das funções generalizadas temperadas de Colombeau / Introduction to the ordinary differential equation in the framework of Colombeau\'s tempered generalized functions

França, Sávio Mendes 21 February 2008 (has links)
The objective of this work is to study, under which conditions, the initial value problem associated with a first-order ordinary differential equation, in the framework of Colombeau\'s tempered generalized functions, it admits at least one (or only one) generalized solution or generalized tempered solution. For this purpose we studied some properties of the generalized functions, of the generalized tempered functions and the generalized tempered functions in the second variable. Besides the study of these properties, we present an embedding of the space of distributions into the algebra of Colombeau\'s generalized functions and an embedding of the space of tempered distributions into the algebra of Colombeau\'s tempered generalized functions. We end the work studying, in the framework of Colombeau\'s tempered generalized functions, an Euler-Lagrange equation and forward solution for autonomous system.

Continuity and compositions of operators with kernels in ultra-test function and ultra-distribution spaces

Chen, Yuanyuan January 2016 (has links)
In this thesis we consider continuity and positivity properties of pseudo-differential operators in Gelfand-Shilov and Pilipović spaces, and their distribution spaces. We also investigate composition property of pseudo-differential operators with symbols in quasi-Banach modulation spaces. We prove that positive elements with respect to the twisted convolutions, possesing Gevrey regularity of certain order at origin, belong to the Gelfand-Shilov space of the same order. We apply this result to positive semi-definite pseudo-differential operators, as well as show that the strongest Gevrey irregularity of kernels to positive semi-definite operators appear at the diagonals. We also prove that any linear operator with kernel in a Pilipović or Gelfand-Shilov space can be factorized by two operators in the same class. We give links on numerical approximations for such compositions and apply these composition rules to deduce estimates of singular values and establish Schatten-von Neumann properties for such operators.   Furthermore, we derive sufficient and necessary conditions for continuity of the Weyl product with symbols in quasi-Banach modulation spaces.

Využití kvantilových funkcí při kostrukci pravděpodobnostních modelů mzdových rozdělení / An Application of Quantile Functions in Probability Model Constructions of Wage Distributions

Pavelka, Roman January 2004 (has links)
Over the course of years from 1995 to 2008 was acquired by Average Earnings Information System under the professional gestation of the Czech Republic Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs wage and personal data by individual employees. Thanks to the fact that in this statistical survey are collected wage and personal data by concrete employed persons it is possible to obtain a wage distribution, so it how this wages spread out among individual employees. Values that wages can be assumed in whole wage interval are not deterministical but they result from interactions of many random influences. The wage is necessary due to this randomness considered as random quantity with its probability density function. This spreading of wages in all labor market segments is described a wage distribution. Even though a representation of a high-income employee category is evidently small, one's incomes markedly affect statistically itemized average wage level and particularly the whole wage file variability. So wage employee collections are distinguished by the averaged wage that exceeds wages of a major employee mass and the high variability due to great wage heterogeneity. A general approach to distribution of earning modeling under current heterogeneity conditions don't permit to fit by some chosen distribution function or probably density function. This leads to the idea to apply some quantile approach with statistical modeling, i.e. to model an earning distribution with some appropriate inverse distributional function. The probability modeling by generalized or compound forms of quantile functions enables better to characterize a wage distribution, which distinguishes by high asymmetry and wage heterogeneity. The application of inverse distributional function as a probability model of a wage distribution can be expressed in forms of distributional mixture of partial employee's groups. All of the component distributions of this mixture model correspond to an employee's group with greater homogeneity of earnings. The partial employee's subfiles differ in parameters of their component density and in shares of this density in the total wage distribution of the wage file.

Modelos multivariados binários com funções de ligação assimétricas / Multivariate binary regression models with asymmetric link functions

Rafael Braz Azevedo Farias 25 May 2012 (has links)
Data sets with multivariate responses often appear in surveys where the data came from questionnaires. Opinion poll, sometimes simply referred to as a poll, are common examples of studies in which the responses are multivariate. One type poll that gain great prominence in Brazil in election years, is the survey of vote intent. However, despite the higher visibility of prognostic studies of election, opnion polls is a tool widely used to detect trends and positions of different social segments on various topics, be they political, social or governmental. We introduce in this work a class of multivariate regression models with asymmetric link functions to fit data sets with multivariate binary responses. The link functions here considered are quite flexible and robust, contemplating symmetrical link functions as special cases. Due to the complexity of the model, we discuss its identifiability. The Bayesian approach was considered and some Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) algorithms have been developed. Simulation studies have been developed with two objectives: i) verify the quality of the algorithms developed and ii) to verify the importance of choosing the link function. At the end of this work an application in a real data set is considered in order to illustrate the methodologies and techniques presented.

Distribuições de limiar de dose e suas causas e consequências em Terapia Fotodinâmica / Threshold dose distributions and its causes and consequences in photodynamic therapy

Clara Maria Gonçalves de Faria 22 February 2017 (has links)
Desde então, existem diversos trabalhos a respeito do assunto in vitro, in vivo e em estudos clínicos e grandes avanços foram alcançados. / The principle of photodynamic therapy (PDT) was introduced around 1900 but further investigated as a candidate to cancer treatment in the 1970´s. Since then, there are several papers regarding the subject in vitro, in vivo and clinical trials and great advances were achieved. However, some challenges were not yet overcome, such as results variability. This work consists in the investigation of its causes, where the main goal is to advance the state of art of PDT. For that it is being used a threshold dose distribution model to evaluate cell resistance to PDT in vitro. The threshold distributions are obtained by differentiating the experimental dose response curve. They are characterized by its width and the dose that corresponds to the peak which relates to the homogeneity and intrinsic resistance of the population, respectively. In section 1, it is presented the evaluation and comparison of data obtained from published results in literature and, in section 2, of experiments performed by the author in different cell lines. From the analysis in the first part, it was observed that the width of the distribution is proportional to its dose of the peak and it was possible to investigate the dependence of the PDT result with the cell line, given a fixed photosensitizer (PS). It was also interesting to note that the threshold distribution corresponded to the activity curves for apoptotic cell markers as a function of light dose, for most of the conditions analyzed. From the experiments performed by the author, it was seen that the normal cell line was the most resistant one, followed by the resistant cancer cells and its parental cell line, and that its response was more homogeneous. Those finding were supported by the fluorescence microscopy images obtained to evaluate PS uptake, which shown that the tumor cells accumulated more PS than the other ones. Therefore, it was shown the potential of applying the threshold distribution to analyze PDT results in vitro, it is a powerful tool that provides more information than the standard dose response curves.
