Observation and measurement of long-term volumetric deformation of clay are important in tackling different geotechnical and geological issues. The area of interest is the northern part of Vienna Basin, where Miocene clays sedimented. It is locally known as Brno Tegel. The Thesis deals with the secondary compression of clays, which can be defined by the Cα/Cc concept. The one-dimensional creep can be determined using the numerical values of the coefficient of secondary compression Cα and subsequently the thickness of overburden of sediments can be estimated. The two different theories, known as Hypothesis A and B are also discussed, which have been used to interpret the effect of creep during the primary consolidation phase. The laboratory measurements of long-term oedometric tests are presented for two undisturbed samples and one reconstituted sample of Brno clay. Thesis rises from an actual needs to make standard of practice for assessment an existing arch railway masonry bridges on the basis of condition long term monitoring. Bridge assessment is a part of any inspection, especially in case of doubts arising during inspections due to heavy defects, increase of axle load or increase of train frequency, which may influence the structural safety, traffic safety or durability of a bridge. There are possibilities for utilization of monitoring results for assessment in case of investigation data absece. An important option is assessment based on satisfactory past performance by ČSN ISO 13822, chapter 8.

This thesis deals with purchasing management in the construction industry and the relationships between suppliers and customers. In the theoretical part are defined basic trade relations, selection and method of evaluation of suppliers, their mode of communication and thoroughly described outsourcing and insourcing. The practical part is a collection of several purchasing activities presenting the advantages of long-term relationships with suppliers customers. Aspects of educational activities of seniors and specifics of their education and activation are also identified. The thesis also describes the best-known methods and techniques of seniors activation in long-term care facilities. In the empirical part, a questionnaire survey was carried out, in which the respondents were clients of retirement homes and patients of specialized hospital wards providing care to geriatric patients. At the same time, standardized interviews were conducted with workers who organize, secure or participate in activities focused on education and activation of their clients or patients. The subject of this diploma thesis is the analysis of long-term changes in precipitation in Europe over the period 1961 - 2011. Emphasis is placed on determining differences in values of trends in precipitation among selected data sources and on analyzing the spatial distribution of annual and seasonal changes in precipitation in Europe, including a discussion of possible causes of differences in these changes in individual areas. Another aim is to illustrate, describe and account for the differences in trend values among different data sources: the ECA&D station database, the interpolation network data sets E-OBS and CRU TS and two reanalyses JRA-55 and NCEP/NCAR. Depending on the amount and quality of data available for the comparison of data sets, changes in precipitation totals were described over a long-term scale in absolute and also, to a lesser degree, in relative values. The first part summarizes the scientific literature dealing with the changes in precipitation characteristics throughout the world and in Europe. There follows a description of the suitability of individual types of data sources for estimating trends in precipitation totals. This dissertation thesis focuses on research data and their use in academics from the point of view of long-term preservation. It maps usage of research data at Charles University in Prague, analyses them and lays the foundation for further research. The first part of the text focuses on the theory of long term preservation and describes the most relevant concepts regarding users, storage and structure of research data. The second part is devoted directly to research data. It consists of definition of research data, the short explanation of their importance and sources, and the model of their lifecycle. The pivotal part of the thesis is the description and the results of the research itself. The research was conducted during the year 2015 and was based on a sample of dissertation theses from the collections of Charles University in Prague. Collected data were analysed by the methods of content analysis and grounded theory. Results are presented in two main parts - content analysis results with regard to differences among science, social science and humanities, and qualitative analysis results. The well-known spectroscopic binary ϕ Per is a peculiar compact system, composed of a Be star with an O-type subdwarf companion. A set of nearly 400 spectra in the red and blue regions from Ondřejov and Potsdam Observatories as well as spectra published in the BeSS database were examined. From the radial velocities of Hα, Hβ, and Hγ emission lines and FUV observations from the IUE and HST, a new precise ephemeris was determined. The revised values of M sin3 (i) are 11.84 and 1.48 M (with uncertainties of 0.64 and 0.09 M ), re- spectively, for the primary and secondary. In addition, the system shows cyclic variations (with a time scale of about 5 years) in the profiles of Balmer lines, manifested in their radial velocities, central intensities and V/R ratios. Understanding complex stellar systems requires combining multiple types of ob- servations and creating models of sufficient complexity. In our case, a combination of interferometric visibilities from the CHARA/VEGA array, spectral energy dis- tribution as well as individual spectral lines were used.
