Německo a cesta Ukrajiny k nepodepsání asociační dohody / Germany and Ukraine's Path to non-signing the Association Agreement

Svobodová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
This thesis deals with German foreign policy on example of negotiations of Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine in years 2007-2013. The purpose of this paper was to analyse German interests in these negotiations and to answer the question, if Germany acted more as a civilian or geoeconomic power. Moreover, I focused on the mistakes of German politicians during this process and how it could influence the negative outcome. Firstly, the thesis follows up main basis of German foreign policy and European Neighbourhood Policy, mainly Eastern Partnership, and the role of Germany in these. The main chapter studies chronologically the process of the treaty negotiations and focuses particularly on press releases and statements of key German politicians. These are compared with chosen criteria to assign the actions to one of the concepts. This thesis comes to a conclusion that Germany acted as a civilian power because it tried to multilateralize the relations, stressed the principles and values and avoided conflicts. Germany's mistake was that it did not pay enough attention to the negotiations and had no clear strategy for this area. With its passivity and lack of interest in Ukraine itself it contributed to the failure of the negotiations.

Haas, Václav January 2017 (has links)
This thesis addresses the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Korea, which is the first one of the new generation free trade agreements for EU. Then, the work presents the development of the legislative environment concerning the common trade policy and the transformation of strategic thinking in this area. Further, it defines the scope of economic interactions between the two participants and their common interests leading to the conclusion of the agreement. Subsequently, the thesis analyses the existing contractual relationships of both participants and defines the main aspects of the newly accepted agreement. Lastly, the current effect of the efficiency of the agreement on the trade with goods and services is analysed.

Smlouva o zákazu jaderných zbraní: případová studie Norska a Nizozemí / Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons: Case Study of Norway and the Netherlands

Sudakovová, Natália January 2019 (has links)
Master thesis analyzes two NATO Member States, the Netherlands and Norway, and their approach to the Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) which was signed on 7 July 2017. Both countries decided not to support the TPNW by either voting against it or abstaining from the negotiations. Research aims to explain why some countries refuse to ban nuclear weapons and what factors influenced the positions of the States on the TPNW. For this purpose, a model-based approach with three models (security, domestic and norm model) developed by Scott Sagan is being applied in each case. These models reflect three international relations theories: neo-realism, liberal institutionalism and constructivism. The security model takes into consideration the security environment that a state is in, whether regionally or globally. It considers security threats to be the fundamental cause of nuclear proliferation. The second model focuses on the domestic actors who encourage or discourage governments from pursuing the bomb, public society and domestic institutions. The last model examines the norms which prevail in the society and form state identity of the State. Based on these three different levels of analysis, the thesis explains what factors were critical in formulating the Dutch and Norwegian positions on...

Cesta k Pražské smlouvě / The Way to Prague Treaty

Mentlík, Petr January 2019 (has links)
The thesis is dealing with the circumstances in which the Treaty on Mutual Relations between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, known as the Prague Treaty, was negotiated and concluded in the early 1970s. The main focus of the thesis is the chapter on the Way to the Prague Treaty, which contains an analysis of negotiations on the text of the Prague Treaty, where the biggest obstacle was disagreement over the invalidity of Munich Agreement, as well as questions about importance of some treaty provisions for West Berlin, signing the treaty in Prague in December 1973 and finally even the process of ratification of the treaty in both states. The analysis of the ratification process consisting mainly in the negotiation of a treaty in the legislative bodies of both states is based mainly on primary sources, parliamentary papers and stenoprotocols. Complicated was discussion in the Federal Republic, when deputies of opposition (CDU/CSU) in Bundestag spoke against the treaty and Bundesrat voted against the treaty even two times. The treaty was approved unanimously in Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia, nevertheless speeches of each deputies was used mainly for proclamation of own interpretation of some provisions of the treaty. It can be stated that the Prague Treaty...

Důsledky obchodní dohody NAFTA pro automobilový sektor v Severní Americe / Consequences of NAFTA Trade Agreement for the Car Industry in North America

Dobeš, Petr January 2020 (has links)
The subject of this thesis is the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), signed between the United States of America, Canada and Mexico and its impact on the automotive industry in North America between the years 1994, when NAFTA came into force, and 2009, when two major American car manufacturers, General Motors and Chrysler, went bankrupt during the global-scale recession and the industry changed significantly. The thesis is based on the theory of comparative advantages, as it was described by a British economist David Ricardo in the 19th century. It subscribes to the general principle that a free trade is beneficial to all engaged parties, because it enables more effective allocation of resources and provides for more specialization of production. The thesis argues NAFTA was a complex and ambitious international trade deal that had profound impact on the evolution of this branch of industry in the United States, Canada and Mexico, however its impact on the economy as a whole was limited and many of the changes, attributed to NAFTA, would likely have happened even without its passage due to the natural process of evolution of the industry and modernization. The creation of a continent-wide zone of free trade enabled local and foreign car makers to establish international supply chains that...

Roznerová, Jana January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with the social movement Fridays for Future and its activity in the Federal Republic of Germany. The study describes frames which are used by the movement to communicate with public and to mobilize its supporters. In the analysis the thesis is based on the framing theory, which was in more detail elaborated by David A. Snow and Robert D. Benford. Specifically, the thesis deals with the analyses of the frames that occurred in the selected speeches delivered by the activists of the movement Fridays for Future. To be more precise, it is the diagnostic, prognostic, and motivational framing. At the beginning of the movement there was the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg who came up with the idea of school strikes for climate. The movement resonated strongly in the German society and it managed to mobilize an extraordinary amount of people in comparison to other states. The central aim of this thesis is to characterize the movement Fridays for Future in Germany. The thesis concentrates on the official goals that the movement tries to push through at the level of the German politics. Furthermore, it focuses on the collective identity and composition of the demonstration participants, primarily it dedicates to social and demographic features of the demonstrators. Fanturová, Anna January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the interregional relations between the European Union and Mercosur. It is approached as a single case study where the examined case is defined as "the strategic partnership between the European Union and Mercosur in the context of new regionalism". The thesis consists of three main chapters. The subject of the second chapter is the development of regional integration within Mercosur and the analysis of the relations between the EU and Mercosur from the early 1990's till present. The current negotiations between the two regions are aimed at the conclusion of the Association Agreement creating free trade area and consisting of three pillars: political dialogue, cooperation and trade. Rozvojová spolupráce EU se zeměmi ACP : přístup ke Rwandě, Haiti a Východnímu Timoru / EU development assistance and the ACP countries. EU's approach to Rwanda, Haiti, and East Timor

Pavelková, Kristina January 2015 (has links)
The work looks at EU's development policy through the lens of one of integration theories, namely multi-level governance. The relationship between the EU and three countries from ACP group, Rwanda, Haiti and East Timor is being analysed. From current trends of multi-level governance the research is focusing on the process of strengthening of supranational level and on advancing regionalization, understood in terms of regional integration on one side and the transfer of powers to lower administrative units or local emancipation. The work is inspired by the idea of the author Martin Holland that integration theories are better observable on EU's development policy than on EU's integration itself. Using the comparison of official EU's declarations over development cooperation with ACP group and real agenda implemented in those countries, the work investigates EU's involvement during penetration of surveyed countries into transnational structures, into regional coalitions and the promotion of emancipation of lower administrative units in the country. The research aims to analyze bonds formed between the European Union and Rwanda, Haiti and East Timor, which, according to Martin Holland, the concept of multi-level governance should best describe.
