Druhá příroda. Příspěvek k sociální filozofii umění / Second Nature: A Contribution to the Social Philosophy of Art

Stejskal, Jakub January 2014 (has links)
- Doctoral Thesis Second Nature: A Contribution to the Social Philosophy of Art (Jakub Stejskal) In what sense can one speak of art as a source of insight into the social? In my thesis I focus on criticizing a position that explains art's social-cognitive potential in terms of its purported intrinsic adherence to a normative view of society as a reconciled second nature: Art either offers insight into the nature of social reality as such a second nature or it makes us feel its unreconciled condition and becomes a promise of reconciliation. I identify two traditions of art interpretation holding this position, which both have their intellectual roots in early German Idealism: the Frankfurt Critical Theory and analytic Kantian Revisionism. In the writings of their adherents art is - implicitly or explicitly - understood essentially as a means of enchantment and affirmation that can at most suppress its affirmative character in the name of future reconciliation. Against this conception I develop an understanding of artistic modernism as belonging to an aesthetics of disenchantment, which takes art to be a way of establishing a specific cognitive distance from the social second nature without evoking reconciliation.

Britské ženy ve válce: na "domácí frontě". Příspěvek ke studiu britské společnosti za druhé světové války. / British Women in the War: On the "Home Front". A Contribution to the Study of British Society during World War II.

Rolfová, Jana January 2018 (has links)
(english) The thesis deals with the influence of the Second World War on the fate of women in Great Britain. Before the Second World War, the woman was expected to either be a domestic woman or to work in jobs exclusively for the female population. The war, however, changed the rules according to which the society was still managed. When men were called into combat, it caused a nationwide shortage of labor. Women were invited to take their places, and they included many positions that were previously considered inappropriate for them. The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out how far women and society were affected by this situation, which was brought by the war. In my thesis I analyzed the role of British women in the civilian sector on the so-called Home Front. In the first chapter I analyzed the process that led to the forced conscription of women and the problems that accompanied the process. The following chapter deals with the employment of women in industry, which proved to be the most problematic in relation to men and domestic duties of women. The third chapter deals with civilian defense and, above all, services that function within this institution. The penultimate chapter deals with the Women's Voluntary Service, which was created to support civilian defense and to provide services...

ŠÍMOVÁ, Kateřina January 2014 (has links)
This thesis is focused on Václav Řezáč's novel interpretation. To be more specific, it deals with the formation of the psychological novels (Černé světlo, Svědek, Rozhraní) and novels called as constructive novels (unfinished trilogy Nástup and Bitva). Although all of these works were created gradually over fifteen years, a contemporary situation was developing in the meantime as well. That's why we can find ourselves in two different state systems and in two different period atmospheres which significantly influenced the former art. The essential default method is a new historicism which is enriched by hermeneutic approaches.

Pojetí jazyka a stylu u M. Cornelia Frontona (překlad a komentář vybraných pasáží) / Conception of language and style by M. Cornelius Fronto (translation and commentary)

Ctibor, Jan January 2016 (has links)
This thesis is one of the first works in the Czech language dealing with the personality and work of Marcus Cornelius Fronto, Roman rhetor of 2. century A. D. and teacher of Marcus Aurelius. After the palimpsest with the correspondence of Fronto was found in early 19th century, the reputation of this man suffered greatly. The man had been seen for many decades as superficial and flat archaisator, whose letters have no or only very little value for us. The aim of this tesis is to examinate the most problematical questions connected with Fronto, firstly his attitude to philosophy and the opinion, that archaism is the main and ubiquitous characteristic of his style. This theoretical treatise is accompanied with translation of several selected texts.

Od boje proti nacismu k vítězství apartheidu. Příspěvek k analýze vývoje Jihoafrické unie v letech 1939 až 1948 / From the Fight against Nazism towards the Victory of Apartheid. A Contribution the Development of the Union of South Africa in the Years 1939-1948

Touška, Mikuláš January 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with the development of the political environment and society in the Union of South Africa between 1939 and 1948. This period is characterized not only by close cooperation with Great Britain during World War II, the temporary suppression of nationalist opposition and the dominance of the United Party led by Jan Smuts in the South African political scene, but also social tensions and escalating conflict between the mainly Afrikaner "white" populations in the Union and non- European ethnic groups. Regardless of the fact that the Union was in World War II on the side of the victors and the sacrifice that had to bring in comparison with many other belligerent countries was relatively small, Smuts and his United Party suffered a fatal defeat in the first post-war elections in 1948. These elections not only meant the actual end of Smuts' political career and departure of United Party to permanent opposition, but also the beginning of the rule of Afrikaner nationalists for more than forty years. This paper aims to analyse the changes in society and the political climate in the Union during World War II and in the first three years after the war and the reasons that led to long-term dominance of nationalists in South Africa. Key Words Union of South Africa, Second World War, Union...
