This thesis deals with the practical aspects of corporate training with the main focus on assessment and measurement of its outputs and effectiveness. The theoretical part introduces to the reader the concepts of corporate education and professional development as well as with their current trends. Next chapters describe the methods of analyzing educational needs and defining development goals. Moreover, various models of assessing the training effectiveness are presented. The application part of this thesis consists of empirical research conducted in the FOXCONN corporation. The purpose of this research was to evaluate training effectiveness of two types of trainings, using Kirkpatrick and Brinkerhoff models, and to address current issues of corporate education and propose solutions to them.

Time tracking means to record and analyze costs in relation with business output. Managerial time tracking can be characterized as a tool that links working-time recording with planning, approving, rating, billing, invoicing, etc. This thesis deals with theoretical consequences and facts of time tracking approaches, and with practical application of these approaches with the usage of IT time tracking tools. There are described various alternatives of time tracking systems and characterized automatization of business processes with the focus on time tracking business process.

The incidence of thyroid diseases in pregnancy in the Czech Republic reaches 10- 15%. Emphasis on early diagnosis and treatment is laid not only during pregnancy but also in the time preceding conception due to the impact of thyroid diseases on fertility, the course of pregnancy, birth and fetal development. The aim of the dissertation was to assess the effectiveness and economical aspects of screening for thyroid disease in pregnancy and in women with fertility disorders in the conditions of the Czech Republic. The dissertation consists of four published studies. The first study is a prospective cross-sectional study of 200 positively screened pregnant women. In the study we come to conclusion that pregnant women who are at high- and low-risk for thyroid disease have similar clinical and laboratory characteristics and screening, currently focused only on risk groups, is ineffective. The second study of 5 223 pregnant women is a case-control study. We find that the age of women over 30 cannot be regarded as a risk factor for thyroid disease in pregnancy, although addition this age criterion to the case-finding screening strategy improve its efficiency and ATA (American Thyroid Association) include it in their guideline 2011. This diploma thesis is focused on measurement of effectiveness of the one to one peer coeval mentoring programme "Ve dvou se to lépe táhne" that was designated for youth at risk. The main goal of the thesis is to choose an appropriate way how to measure programme effectiveness and verify the possibility to integrate it with the methodology of the programme. In the introduction of the theoretical part of thesis there are given the definitions of adolescence and changes related with this age, circumstances that threaten youth at risk and the list of programmes, available in the Czech Republic, for youth at risk. Moreover there is introduced the program "Ve dvou se to lépe táhne" and possibilities for evaluation of the programme in particular from the impact on clients point of view. Practical part gives information about the chosen evaluation method and its modification corresponding with particularities of the programme, further describes the implementation stage of the method and finally a pilot version of the modified method on the basis of created questionnaires is assessed.

This diploma thesis explores the efficiency of the Czech police in 2005-2012 to evaluate the impact of the reform changes that took place from 2007 to 2009. The aim is to answer to the question, whether the Police of the Czech Republic, is working more efficiently after this reform. The research method was inspired by the concept of efficiency in the organization by Skogan. The study was conducted by comparing the inputs and outputs of the organization when inputs were identified as sources and changes in legislation and outputs as detection rate of six types of crime. Identification of the reform changes and their impact was conducted on the basis of qualitative research among police officers. Data were collected during eleven semi-structured expert interviews with police officers. These interviews approached important reform changes. The research took into account the respondents' individual opinions about the reform changes and most important changes which affect policing were identified. Using the aforementioned method it reveals that in general police works more effectively after reform. However, the research also shows that detection rate of economic crime, crime related to traffic accidents and other crime had slight downward trend for the period after the reform. This thesis deals with methods of information retrieval. Firstly, it describes models of information retrieval and methods of retrieval evaluation. Then it brings closer the principles of the input text processing for IR with use of stopword list and stemmer. Furthermore, it shows the way of the query expansion with synonyms using the thesaurus, methods of handling phrases appearance in queries and introduces the idea of ranking documents by the degree of phrase occurrence similarity in documents. In the second part of this thesis is described the design of whole IR system with using vector model, query expansion with synonyms and phrases handling. This system has been implemented in C# as the application for retrieving and administration of the documents in digital libraries. The effectiveness of this system has been evaluated at the end of this thesis by several tests.

The purpose of the work is a description and analysis of the employee recruitment and selection process and of the methods used during this process in a specific company and a critical evaluation (i.e. identification of the strong and weak points) of the process and methods used during the recruitment including presentation of the proposals on how to resolve the deficiencies are outlined. In the first part is briefly introduced the company, where the respective fieldwork occurred. The following (crucial) part is divided into two chapters which are focused on the recruitment (sources, methods and process) and later selection (criterions, methods and process) of the employees and the evaluation of effectiveness of the recruitment. This work also shortly defines the impact of the financial crisis on the employee recruitment and selection process. In the conclusion are mentioned the strong and weak points of the whole process and methods used during the recruitment process and the proposals on how to resolve the deficiencies are outlined.

The thesis "Product placement in TV production" focuses on a specific type of marketing communication named product placement, particularly in the Czech TV broadcasting. The main aim of this thesis is to explore product placement and its particularities in TV production, with the focus on the Czech television broadcasting. Furthermore the next goals are to describe the whole proces of product placement realisation and to find out whether people know or do not know what a term product placement is and its legal background in the Czech Republic and how they perceive product placement in the Czech broadcasting.
