Economic Efficiency, Competition and Equilibrium in Heterogeneous Production / Economic Efficiency, Competition and Equilibrium in Heterogeneous Production

Průša, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis provides a bridge between two strands of efficiency literature. As we describe in the first part, the theory of efficiency is generally focused on equilibrium and mild devia- tions from it. In contrast, empirical studies document large variations in efficiency that are persistent in real economies. We describe two theoretical concepts as driving forces behind fluctuating performance of companies. Firstly, efficiency is derived from competition and is dynamic by its nature. As production happens in time, changing supply and demand conditions induce the ne- cessity to continuously adjust production processes. These changes are implemented under conditions of uncertainty, which directly leads to regular inefficiencies, implying that out- of-equilibrium situations are normal rather than rare. Secondly, standard models typically rely on price exogeneity to separate technical and allocative components of overall economic efficiency. We point out that this assumption is likely to fail due to extreme heterogeneity of the units of analysis. We elaborate in detail on the significance of heterogeneity in efficiency models, especially the heterogeneity of capital. As a result we demonstrate how various combinations of heterogeneous assets imply further swings in efficiency. We show that integrating both...

Veřejné zakázky na municipální úrovni / Public procurement at the local government level

ŠTEMBEROVÁ, Štěpánka January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate public procurement practices and elaborate recommended procurement procedures. The resulting part of the work is devoted to a research of selected municipal contracts in terms of volume and structure. It also shows the development of these contracts in the last five years. The research method for achieving the main aim of the work is a case study. Using two real public contracts is demonstrated a possible procurement process. The research via case studies does not serve to produce a generally valid conclusions. However, it is possible to draw several findings from the examples of public contracts. These findings are applicable to other municipal public procurement.

Modely hodnocení efektivnosti a jejich aplikace / Efficiency evaluation models and their applications

MARKOVÁ, Klára January 2009 (has links)
Thesis themed "Efficiency evaluation models and their applications" deals with mathematical models for the efficiency evaluation of comparable production units and targets the utilization of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for this purpose. The thesis aims first to describe DEA models and mention possibilities of their application and then to practise the theoretical knowledge by using proper software in a factual instance. To reach this aim the thesis is composed of two parts {--} theoretical abstract and practical application. The abstract contains basic theory of DEA: fundamental principles, input data and results and description of primary, alternate and modified models. A summary of software applications that can evaluate efficiency using DEA follows. The abstract is closed with some real examples of DEA applications in practice. The second part of the thesis arose from cooperation with a fire department of a factual region of the Czech Republic. The efficiency of its 16 fire stations is compared by using a proper DEA model. A number of actions (output) and a number of employees, a level of fire equipment and an inside area (inputs) are established for each fire station on the strength of the fire department{\crq}s statistics, databases and estimations. The efficiency calculation is performed through the use of the Frontier Analyst Professional, software application specially made for the DEA analysis. Regarding the outputs uncontrollable character an input-oriented DEA model is chosen for the calculation of the fire stations efficiency. A result of the DEA efficiency analysis consists in separating the effective and ineffective fire stations of the surveyed fire department. The potential improvement (inputs decrease), necessary to reach the maximal efficiency, is proposed to each ineffective fire station. This suggestion is further adapted with respect to the real feasibility and the Czech legislative order. The practical part of the thesis is concluded with appreciation to what degree the stated targets were reached and to what degree the application of the DEA method to comparing the factual fire stations efficiency was rewarding.

Rozbor cenných papírů na vybraném odvětví burzy CP pomocí metod technické a fundamentální analýzy / The analysis of stocks on the chosen branch of the market with methods of the technical and fundamental analysis

NACHLINGEROVÁ, Lucie January 2009 (has links)
The target of this thesis was to compare revenues and risks from the investing into shares of 40 chosen companies from 6 branches of Paris Stock Exchange. This stock was chosen because of there are not so developed conditions to confirm or contradict such type of methods in Czech Republic. I have applied the most often used methods like fundamental and technical analysis. I have also tried the practicability of the theory of effectiveness and tried to affirm the truth or false of this method.

Ekonomická efektivnost integrovaného zemědělství / Economical efficiency of integrated farming

VIKTORA, Lukáš January 2010 (has links)
In the work are analyzed the most important differences in plant production as well as in single system of farming. There is determined their effect on variability costs in farming. The work evaluates differences between yields of selected commodities with respect to system of farming and factors, which can the results change. There are the variability costs on the area and a value of rent ability determined with regard to standard farming technologies in every farming system. The profit on area is demonstrated in reference to redemption price of the year. The study is concerned with SWOT analysis of integrate way of farming. There are determinate the strong and weak sides in plant farming, able occasions and threats. The strategies to the future are discussed. The aim of this work is the comparison of economic effectiveness of selected commodities in different agriculture systems. It is concentrated first of all on evaluation of differences between yields of commodities in confrontation to system of farming and factors changing the yields. Secondly, the high and the structure of variability costs to production of selected commodities, the price differences between conventional and organic farming and the evaluation of economic effectiveness selected commodities is studied.
