International development -- A look at the future. New challenges for well established companies / International development – A look at the future. New challenges for well established companies

Lake, Jordan January 2011 (has links)
My paper tries to cover as many fields of internationalization as possible. It is a look at the very actual situation after the financial crisis but also comes with some predictions about the close future. Public and worldwide organizations such as WTO are a critical point in my analysis, as well as country penetration strategies. My objective was to determine where globalization has leaded us, in which direction and more importantly in which countries. Also, it is explained how complex can be a multinational in different countries and the important aspects of control in between subsidiaries. Not to be forgotten, the most recent kinds of investments and revamped international strategies

Reorganizace insolventních firem -- srovnání vybraných zemí / Reorganization of Insolvent Companies – a Comparison of Selected Countries

Švoma, Jan January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the non-performing loans of companies that are resolved within insolvency proceedings, with a focus on reorganization. The work compares insolvency systems of various developed markets with those of emerging/transition economies. The practical part is oriented toward domestic insolvency issues in the Czech market based on a survey structured as a questionnaire that was responded to by top insolvency professionals, bankers and lawyers. The survey was followed-up and complemented by structured interviews with selected respondents. The work also entails practical observations arising from the author´s recent working experience with debt-recovery both in the Czech market and abroad. The dissertation seeks answers regarding whether reorganization provides banking creditors with added-value and the transferability of western approaches to reorganization in the context of the environment of transition economies. A clear answer to this complex question is not found and based on his research the author remains skeptical as to the frequent and often over optimistic opinions provided in support of the general benefit of reorganizations.

Dopad přímých zahraničních investic na domácí investice ve vybraných zemích střední a východní Evropy v letech 2008-2019. / The impact of foreign direct investment on domestic investment in selected countries of Central and Eastern Europe from 2008-2019

He, Ma January 2021 (has links)
This article applies the total investment model and 12-year (2008-2019) panel data of 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe to examine the crowding-in or crowding- out effect of FDI on domestic investment. Moreover, in the empirical research, this article also tests the specific impact of the formation of FDI domestic capital in different economies and different periods in Central and Eastern Europe. Our research results show that FDI has no obvious crowding-in or crowding-out effect on the domestic investment of the total sample in the long term. In addition, FDI has a long-term crowding-out impact on domestic investment in underdeveloped economies and advanced economies in 11 countries. However, in the short term (2008-2012), FDI has a substantial and apparent crowding-in effect on domestic investment in underdeveloped economies. Furthermore, in the latter stage of the research period (2013-2019), FDI has no obvious crowding-in or crowding-out effect on domestic investment in the two different economies. This article also deeply analyzes the causes of the crowding-in or crowding-out effect of FDI and puts forward reasonable policy recommendations. Keywords: FDI, Crowding in, Domestic investment, underdeveloped economies.

Sociální determinanty očekávané doby dožití v tranzitivních ekonomikách / Social Determinants of Life Expectancy in Transition Economies

Song, Fei January 2018 (has links)
This thesis investigates the impact of social determinants on life expectancy in 16 transition economies from 1995 to 2012 by a panel data regression analysis. The regression result suggests that, air quality, coverage for tertiary education, spending in health care have statistically positive associations with life expectancy. To be specific, 1 microgram per cubic meter reduction in PM 2.5 air pollution(mean annual exposure) is associated with a gain of 2.16 months of life expectancy at birth. 100 dollars increase in health expenditure per capita is associated with a gain of 2.4 months of life expectancy at birth. 10% points increase in the gross enrolment ratio for tertiary school is associated with a gain of 3.6 months of life expectancy. But the proxy variable of democracy(Unified Democracy Sores), Economic Freedom and out-of-pocket health expenditure are not significant factors of life expectancy.

Vliv institucionálního prostředí na vývoj ekonomik postsocialistických zemí

Mádr, Michal January 2017 (has links)
The dissertation thesis deals with economic consequences of established institutional environment in the post-socialist economies. The institutional environment is associated with political arrangement. The main aim was to investigate whether level of political environment affects economic performance in the post-socialist economies. The level of political arrangement is expressed by two groups of indicators. Firstly, a standard expression using the three indicators is employed (Freedom in World, Polity2, Liberal Democracy Index of the V-Dem Project). Secondly, the level is associated with the individual political regimes (democratic and authoritarian regimes; liberal democracies and non-liberal regimes). Based on received results of linear regression analysis, it can be argued that the higher level of political institution supports economic performance. Simultaneously the individual analyses indicate liberal democracies achieve the highest economic performance within the individual political regimes whereas democracies have similar economic outcomes to authoritarian regimes. The first partial aim was to verify opposite relation, it means whether factors of economic performance representing the Modernization theory have affected formation of political regimes in the post-socialist area. Probit regression analysis was used for attainment of the partial aim. The analysis identified the individual factors of the Modernization theory (level of economic development and schooling) have had impact on establishment of liberal democracies. According to the results of probit analysis the other two theories explaining establishment of political institutions were discussed, namely the Early Developed Institutions and the Natural Resources Curse. In the last part, the second partial aim was achieved by testing reciprocal causal link between level of political system and economic performance with using the test of Granger causality. The results indicate there is not reciprocal causal link in Granger approach between the observed variables. Simultaneously the reciprocal causal relation occurs only within liberal democracies.
