This diploma thesis examines the issue of the roaming regulation. The goal was to find out whether it had been necessary to regulate roaming prices at the EU level and what consequences it has and will have for individuals in the market - especially consumers, mobile operators, politicians, and also for the single European market. The basic hypothesis is that the roaming regulation will ultimately lead to a reduction in consumer utility, and therefore there is no substantial improvement to the single European market. The first part describes current developments in the roaming regulation and presents arguments for and against regulation. The second part then discusses the presented arguments. The impact on various market players is examined using the available data.

Záměrem této diplomové práce je analýza protiteroristické legislativy Evropské unie. Důraz je kladen zejména na období, které následovalo po útocích z 11. září 2001. Je podán rozbor a zhodnocení akčních plánů, strategií a nástrojů zaměřených na potírání terorismu. Kromě protiteroristické legislativy EU je zde také podána komparace protiteroristických politik a nástrojů ve Velké Británii a Španělsku. Text je také zaměřen na analýzu teroristických útoků na území EU, a to na útok z 11. března 2004 v Madridu, ze 7. a 21. července 2005 v Londýně a na letecký komplot z léta 2006 opět v Londýně. Útoky jsou analyzovány podle několika základních hledisek. V závěru jsou podána doporučení pro protiteroristické působení EU i jednotlivých členských států.

The thesis in three chapters shows the development of Portugal in the context of the European Union. It describes the period before accession to the European Communities in the 70s and 80s when the long dictatorship fell and the period of transition to democracy followed during the political and economical instability. Another part of the thesis deals with the process of Portugal's accession to the European Communities, followed by a period of real convergence in the late 80s and early 90s, Portugal's entry into the ERM and the adoption of the common currency. The last chapter discusses the development of the Portuguese economy during participation in the eurozone and the current problems of Portugal in the context of the ongoing economic and financial crisis.

EUROPEAN CITIZENS' INITIATIVE IN THE CONTEXT OF REDUCING DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT IN EU This thesis primarily involves a study of the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI), its functioning and contribution to democracy in the EU. The ECI is the first tool to facilitate transnational participatory democracy in the world. It allows EU citizens to invite the European Commission, within the framework of its powers, to submit any appropriate proposal on matters where citizens consider that a legal act of the Union is required for the purpose of implementing the Treaties. For a better understanding of the democratic contribution of the ECI, the work first analyses the state of democracy in the EU, confirming the existence of a democratic deficit in the EU. It subsequently addresses its history and causes. Based on information obtained concerning democracy in the EU and its development, the work then proceeds to undertake a legal analysis of Regulation No. 211/2011 on the citizens' initiative, taking into account the history of its origins. It identifies the potential democratic contribution of the ECI for democracy in the EU. Cílem této práce je ukázat nový pohled na postavení Evropské unie jako celku v mezinárodních organizacích. Práce přibližuje pojem mezinárodní organizace, její typické právní znaky, cíle, funkce, role a historii, jež jsou nutným základem pro důkladné pochopení zkoumaného tématu. Následně je charakterizována Evropská unie, její cíle, funkce, role, postavení ve světě a právní základy, dle kterých vystupuje na mezinárodním poli. V závěrečné části je zkoumáno postavení Evropské unie v několika vybraných mezinárodních organizacích z pozice člena, pozorovatele a formy spolupráce.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá především novými nadnárodními formami obchodních společností. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je právní rozbor aspektů evropského hospodářského zájmového sdružení a evropské společnosti. Právní rozbor je doplňen také o analýzu aktuálního využití těchto právních forem v praxi. Okrajově se tato diplomová práce zabývá také svobodou usazování společností. Práce dále podává přehled o platných právních normách regulujících aspekty obchodních společností na evropské úrovni.

Náplní této práce je popis, analýza a zhodnocení politiky vlád Labour Party pod vedením Tonyho Blaira ve vztahu k Evropské unii. Je v ní nastíněn historický vývoj účasti Velké Británie v evropském integračním procesu a její specifika. Jádrem práce je identifikace nejdůležitějších oblastí vzájemných vztahů a analýza jejich vývoje v letech 1997 - 2006. V rámci tohoto je detailně rozebrána role Velké Británie v procesu utváření Evropské bezpečnostní a obranné politiky a její postoje k problematice Hospodářské a měnové unie a účasti Velké Británie v ní.

Práce se zabývá vztahem akciových trhů a hospodářského růstu. Cílem je ověřit hypotézu,že současná podoba evropských akciových trhů nevytváří dostatečné předpoklady pro hodpodářský růst v Evropské unii. Nejprve je v práci ověřen pozitivní vztah mezi růstem a akciovým trhem.Poté je představena optimální podoba akciové trhu z hlediska hospodářské růstu,která je dále konfrontována s reálnou podobou evropských akciových trhů. Poslední část je věnována procesu integrace akciových trhů. Práce potvrzuje hypotézu, že i přes postupující integraci akciových trhů nedochází prozatím k posilováníh hospodářského růstu v Evropské unii.

Na počátku nového tisíciletí se členské státy Evropské unie dohodly na novém strategickém cíli Evropské unie pro následující desetiletí, stát se ve světovém měřítku nejvíce konkurenceschopnou a dynamickou ekonomikou založenou na znalostech, schopnou udržitelného hospodářského růstu s větším počtem a lepší kvalitou pracovních míst a vyšší sociální soudružností. Diplomová práce se věnuje tématu naplňování cílů evropské politiky zaměstnanosti v Evropské komisi. Ta hraje klíčovou roli při tvorbě politiky zaměstnanosti, ale také je sama významným zaměstnavatelem v rámci Evropské unie. Práce podává odpověď na otázku, jak jsou na půdě Evropské komise naplňovány cíle evropské politiky zaměstnanosti, na jejichž tvorbě se Evropská komise podílí. Předmětem zkoumání jsou dvě oblasti vztahující se k problematice politiky zaměstnanosti, a to kvalita pracovních míst a upevňování politiky rovných příležitostí v rámci Evropské komise.

Thesis "Budget management of the European Union" analyzes the process of budget management on the European Union (EU) level highlighting the changes brought to this area by the Lisbon Treaty. Moreover, it explores proposals submitted by the European Commission during the preliminary discussions about the nature of the future EU Multiannual financial framework (MFF) 2014-2020 in the cohesion policy. The EU budget mirrors predominantly political dimension of the European integration and reflects the MFF as an important medium-term instrument for expenditures planning of the EU. The thesis is composed of two major chapters. First part examines the EU budget in the framework of budgeting processes on the national and international level. It reviews as well the most important changes being made in this policy area since 2009, when the Lisbon Treaty entered into force. Second part shifts the focus on the more specific issue - on the future of the EU cohesion policy in the next seven-year expenditures term.
