Vytváření zákona o občanství v Lotyšsku v kontextu evropské integrace / Creation of the citizenship law in Latvia in the context of European integration

Prokopová, Zuzana January 2020 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the process of the formation of the Latvian Citizenship Law in the context of European integration. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the influence of European organization (primarily the Council of Europe, the European Union and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) on the law creation and the approval of its amendments. The aim of the study is also to analyze how the representatives of the Russian Federation influenced the process of law creation and its changes. Latvia was annexed by the Soviet Union in 1940, it remained its part until 1991. During the Soviet period, many Russian-speaking people moved to the territory of Latvia. Latvian citizenship law from 1994 was highly restrictive, it was based on the principle of legal continuity between interwar Latvia and restored Latvia after 1991. Therefore, the law only restored citizenship, which meant that only people who had been citizens before 1940 were granted automatic citizenship. Many inhabitants of restored Latvia, especially Russian speaking inhabitants, remained without citizenship. There was a possibility to acquire citizenship through the naturalization process, but the pace of the naturalization was too slow due to the system of so-called "naturalization windows". The system...

After that, the thesis estimates conceptual preconditions and incentives in the Baltic region due to which Russia implements the information warfare specifically in this region. The information warfare in this sense is understood as the psychological pressure onto the society of Baltics, hence, as one of the tools to enforce the interests and goals of the Kremlin's official foreign policy, because the initiators of such information campaigns are the Russian state media or their proxies. Third, in the empirical part, based the conceptually determined factors and particular events related to them, thesis thoroughly deals with discourses and narratives spread through the Russian and pro-Russian media operating in the Baltic states. More specifically, the analysis conducts research of the content of these narratives, their rhetoric, specific features, context and possible impacts onto the society in the Baltics. The goal of this thesis is to analyse thoroughly...

Hindlsová, Lucie January 2012 (has links)
Komparace vlivu externích mocností - Spojených států, Evropské unie, Ruské federace, Číny a Turecka - v izraelsko-arabském prostoru Abstrakt disertační práce L. Hindlsová The dissertation thesis entitled, Comparing Influence of the USA, the EU, China, Russia and Turkey in the Israeli-Arab Area, discusses sub-regional power distribution of selected external global and regional powers. The Buzan & Wæver regional security complex in its expanded form serves as a scheme for measuring influence of above listed external powers through their military, political, economic and cultural foreign-policy tools. The analysis is conducted in four historical phases that were critical for the evolution of the Israeli-Arab conflict since the Israeli-Egypt Peace Treaty in 1979 until the most current period. The objective is to determine shifts and general trends in power distribution and to comprehend where, how and to what extent new rising powers exercise their influence. The thesis tries to determine, whether less synoptic structure of power hierarchy on the global level resulting from relative decline of US power may impact regional power distribution in the Israeli-Arab sub-region and the conflict resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. Therefore it primarily covers activities in the Israeli-Arab sub-region, but...

Rozpad Československa a Jugoslávie - Komparativní případová studie / The Dissolution of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia - A Comparative Case Study

Kaplan, Petr January 2011 (has links)
The thesis compares two different modes of state disintegration of post-communist federations. Yugoslavia is an example of a violent breakup, Czechoslovakia stands for a peaceful way, how to split a state. Using the Level of Analysis concept the study looks for differences at five levels focusing mainly on the change caused by the process of democratic transition in both states that removed the old regime and brought a competitive atmosphere among the old and new elites representing various ethnic groups. The outcome of the analysis is that the role of the army, the length of the liberalization process and the different historical experience are factors that matter most.

Uhlova, Diana January 2013 (has links)
This submitted dissertation thesis provides a constitutional comparative analysis of the European Union and the European federations, primarily the Federal Republic of Germany, Swiss Confederation, Republic of Austria and also basic features of the United States of America. I will attempt to determine whether EU is already a federation, or how much closer it has shifted to a federative type political arrangement. In this dissertation thesis I will try to methodically analyze, which characteristics of a federal state the European Union already meets and if we can put the EU under the category of federations, confederations or international organizations. To achieve better understanding of the context of this dissertation thesis, a comparative analysis of the European Federations is studied from historical, sociological and political science perspective. However the main emphasis here is focused on the analysis of the constitutional and legal arrangements. The first part of this thesis starts from the scrutiny of the origin and development of the theory of federalism in historical perspective, followed by determining the concept of federalism and federation in constitutional terms. Subsequently provided here are definitions of various types of federations and the reasons for their creation and...

Recentní reformy federalismu v německy mluvících zemích / Recent reforms of federalism in German speaking countries

Chmel, Marek January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to acquaint the reader with the processes and the results of the recent reforms of federalism in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It is remarkable that in spite of their historical, geographical and cultural proximity show these federal countries substantive differences in the institutional framework as well as in the execution of the reform procedures. This thesis considers also the potential possibility to (partly) apply the knowledge and experience of these reforms within the EU framework. Despite difficult comparison of the EU with the federal countries there are certain identical elements and processes, may it be the execution of the shared competences or reallocation of the public finances. In order to better understand these deliberations and due to the modest Czech literature on federalism and federations the thesis provides also historical perspective as well as broader theoretical background.

Aktivizační a vzdělávací programy pro seniory v Karlovarském kraji / Activation and education programmes for seniors in the region of Karlovy Vary

HANZELOVÁ, Jiřina January 2009 (has links)
The thesis deals with the topic of Activation and education programmes for seniors in the region of Karlovy Vary. The topic is divided here into two parts. The first, theoretical part deals with the old age as a biopsychosocial problem, i.e. it evaluates the demography of old age, the concept of healthy ageing, it deals with medical and social geriatric diagnostics and, above all, with individual activation programmes, their creation and principles, importance and practical application. The work especially includes education programmes, it describes their particularities and use, as well as their teaching at colleges in the region of Karlovy Vary. The second, research part consists of the determining of hypotheses, the aim of the work, and the methodology of the research. I have chosen the quantitative method of research by which three questionnaires were assessed: for respondents living in old people´s homes, for respondents living at home and for professional workers dealing with activation and education programmes in old people´s homes. Further a comparative analysis of the questionnaire for respondents living in old people´s homes as well as those living at home was carried out. The subject of this analysis are the questions of the same aim and their statistic compiling. All the data are compiled with the help of charts, tables and statistic programme SPSS. The most important is the testing of the hypothesis concerning the knowledgeability of respondents about activation and education programmes and related participation in such programmes, and further hypotheses inquiring whether professional workers (course lectors) have enough information on the entire spectrum of these programmes. The discussion is directed at the evaluation of the research targets, practical implementation of knowledge into practice, and especially at additional new facts, which I revealed during the research itself and during the statistic compiling of data. It is possible to say that the respondents must have information on the importance of activation and education programmes, on their taking place and the conditions of participation. Alike the professional staff holding or lecturing them should be professionally trained in courses. Thus the programmes will reach the desirable quality and their importance for the society will be significantly higher.
