Thermal profile and kinetic analysis of Arc-Reactor anode: Finite element analysis

Out, Hannu Heijke January 2014 (has links)
This study investigated the heat transfer within the anode material moving through and heated by an electric arc. The arc was a low current (< 16 A) atmospheric electric discharge between a carbon rod cathode, and a moving carbon felt anode. The carbon arc was a low current(<16 A) electric discharge between a cathode constructed of a carbon rod, and a moving carbon felt anode. The thermal profile within the anode material was predicted by a system of differential algebraic equations, adapted from the model developed by (Stark and Fricke, 1993). This set of equations was run using the software MATLAB R2011b, using a numerical integrator with consideration taken for sparsity. The change in degree of graphitisation was then predicted using the thermal profiles developed. This indicated that while the graphitisation of the surface of the felt exposed to the arc increased (from about 10% to about 99%) this effect did not penetrate far into the felt. At a depth of 0.3 mm there was very little increase in graphitisation (about 7% increase at slow movement rates, negligible at standard rates), indicating that this gaphitisation degree was unlikely to explain the improvement of battery cells produced using this material compared to non–arc treated material. Vaporisation of carbon due to the arc was then investigated as a possible explanation. With a similar activation energy to graphitisation a similar profile was obtained.

The effect of manager¡¦s personality traits to capital expenditure decision. The interaction of risk perception and felt responsibility as an example

Cheng, Kuo-chih 08 July 2008 (has links)
This study explores whether sunk cost effects exist among business managers in Taiwan. Based on the prospect theory and responsibility theory, we explored the impact of manager¡¦s personality traits on sunk cost effects. Besides exploring the effects of risk perception and felt responsibility individually, we went further than previous studies by analyzing the impact of the interaction between the two on sunk cost effects, providing a more integrated explanation for the causes of sunk cost effects. We use experimental research method as research subjects. This study employed 201 managers in listed and OTC Taiwanese firms as subjects, and used moderated regressions to examine the relationship between the variables of interest. The results show that risk perception only affects sunk cost effects under low responsibility conditions; and responsibility only affects sunk cost effects under low risk perception conditions. We also provide the implication of this study.

Sąstingis / Stagnation

Ridikaitė, Vilma 15 January 2007 (has links)
When I inspect phenomenon conception, different notional stress, I fix that it – slowdown, stand, psychological fence, which block our thinking and creative, incapacity, despair. It relate with varying circumstances. I analyse the stagnation phenomenon interpretation in artistic oeuvre. Frequent phenomenon in nature and in human work range. In master work I looked the stagnation in philosophy and in psychology dimension, but lot so this phenomenon meeting in artistic range (in verbal and in visual oeuvre). This is the person state of wind, which is different in different people life. Of ten we try interconnect state of mind with variation in nature. In nature when change seasons we feel slowdown, despair and this process also are in people life… Work purport – traverse the stagnation phenomenon meaningful and them read if for creative textile work. Master creative idea – textiles creative work ,, Stagnation’’ treat like the stagnation in natural and in culture atmosphere. To do the creative work pick the felt, because it fit the best to put for my idea, since the felt are stiff and keep his set good. My work consist of three parts. In my work I try constrain the people to pore about us outward problems. In contemporary vestige the unique people life tunes are pine, the people in the new age commonplaceing, greying because process life urbanize and increment, people make be not necessary.Technical type cultural advance bearing human... Exploring de-facto accountability regimes in Muslim NGOs

Yasmin, S., Ghafran, Chaudhry, Haniffa, R. 2018 July 1917 (has links)
Yes / This paper aims to deepen and advance our understanding of the de-facto accountability processes and practices within Muslim non-governmental organisations (NGOs). We employ a three-fold accountability framework of felt, imposed and adaptive accountability, supported by insight from the Islamic perspective to elucidate our empirical findings. We adopt this framework because it enables us to localise the notions of accountability, allowing a more complete understanding of the de-facto nature of Muslim NGO accountability to emerge within the context of religious ideals and between accountabilities that are externally imposed and those that are internally generated.

Veltinio tradicijos ir sklaidos galimybės Lietuvoje / Felt traditions and promotion possibilities in Lithuania

Skripkaitė, Daiva 15 June 2011 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The research object of the Master Thesis “Felt Traditions and Promotion Possibilities in Lithuania” is felt, its origins, historical development, traditions and spread in Lithuania, Europe and all over the world. The thesis reveals the main felting techniques and decoration methods and introduces organised in Lithuania felt exhibitions and symposiums, public felting actions and demonstrations, felt installations and performances in which basic element is felt. The main objective of felt exhibitions and symposiums is follow-up and popularisation of such textile traditions as well as exchange of creative experience, information material and demonstration of the textile items in different places throughout Lithuania and abroad. The thesis deals with modern professional and amateur felt craft, discusses possibilities of modern felt craft introduction to society. The thesis includes the review of creation of artists inventively using felt in their works. Since felting may be done not only by professionals, but also by amateurs, the thesis introduces Lithuanian professional artists using felt in their works as well as felt promoters amateurs and folk artists and organised by them felt works displays and exhibitions. The thesis reveals a wide field for application of such techniques not only by professionals, but also by amateurs. Presently felt becomes very popular in modern art installations, performances, experimental animation, interior and exterior panel, for the... [to full text]
