Tituly filmů a jejich překlady / Film Titles and Their Translations

Valčíková, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
The presented diploma thesis deals with titles of films and TV serials made in anglophone countries or in their co-production, in which their titles were either translated from English to Czech, or possibly the original titles were presented to Czech viewers in original form. The thesis analyzes and classifies the structure of the original and translated titles, characterizes the linguistic means used in them and compares the two titles on the basis of the acquired knowledge. For the purpose of analyzing and comparing the titles, a corpus of titles obtained by an excerpt from the Czech-Slovak Film Database (ČSFD.cz), was created. Titles from the years 1990 to 2015 were placed into the corpus, and each year contains the same number of titles. In total, 625 titles of foreign films and TV serials which form the main corpus, and 200 titles of domestic films and TV serials which form the control corpus, were gathered. A short questionnaire illustrating title influence on viewers when choosing a film, is also part of this diploma thesis. Key words title, film, film title, film name, functions of title, translation, translation strategies, equivalency, recipient

Historické kořeny minimalistického filmu / Historical roots of the conemporary minimalistic cinema

Böhm, Michal January 2016 (has links)
Mimalism represents a film style which still partially predominates on the contemporary art festivals although it reached its peak during in the beginning of the 21. century. Minimalism is a style which supresses the pallete of formalistic tools, expressive elements and typical narative structures and drama. It also works extensively with time and the depiction of everyday. Minimalistic cinema experience thus stimulates the audience to make their own interpretations of the story and the form altogether. The aim of this work is to analyze those historical cinema tendencies that bear most resemblance to the modern style of minimalism. I consider these films (and styles) to be the most predetermenative to the style of minimalism: Italian neorealism, spiritual work of Ozu and Bresson, experimental structural movies, the cinematic masterpiece Jean Dielman, 23 Commerce Quay, 1080 Brussels from Chantal Akerman and Antonionis movies with their narative structure.

Gesucht werden u. a. Gegenentwürfe zur männlichen Perspektive populärer Filme, in denen Frauen als passive Objekte fungieren.

Z písaře ministerským radou: Působení Jiřího Mařánka v kinematografii čtyricátých a padesátých let / From Scribe to Ministerial Counsellor: The Involvement of Jiří Mařánek in the Cinematography of the Forties and Fifties

Kupková, Marika January 2017 (has links)
1 Abstract The thesis focuses on the involvement of Jiří Mařánek in the management of the Film Department of the Ministry of Information during the years 1945 - 1948. His ministe- rial engagement is related to the contemporary strengthening of the importance of literary preparation of the film and to the associated state dramaturgical supervision. Jiří Mařánek belongs to the circle of writers connected on one hand through their affiliation with the interwar avant-garde movements, on the other hand by their postwar involve- ment in the power apparatus that ended by the political and economic changes in the late forties and fifties. His professional fate speaks about the changes of cultural policy of the state, about the institutional development of the cinema and about the relations between literary and cinematic arts. It is a testimonial of what a successful professional career meant for a man of letters and what relationship it had to the cinema. We follow therefore a relatively brief but breakthrough episode of a writer and retired officer in the position of the Ministerial Counsellor, and we try to place its course and causes into a complex network of historical and social contexts and personal motivation. Focusing on this personality unburdened neither by a historical uniqueness, fundamental role of...
