Organizational Adoption of Information Technologies ¡V An Extended Fit-Viability Model

Yeh, Yi-Hsuan 30 August 2011 (has links)
Organizational adoption of information technology is an important decision for modern enterprises. Proper use of technology can increase benefits and competitive advantage. Inappropriate use could cause failure. Most previous literature focuses on treating technology adoption as a rational decision based on the functional needs of an organization. In many cases, however, technology adoption is not due to functional needs but environmental or peer pressure (called symbolic or ceremonial adoption). Different motivations for adoption may lead to different outcome. In addition, there is no generally accepted organizational adoption model that can include all key factors into consideration. Therefore, this study tries to understand what factors will affect an organization¡¦s adoption of a new information technology or use an information technology and whether different purposes (intangible value vs. tangible value) will affect the adoption or usage of information technology in organizations. The framework of this study was extended from the Fit-Viability Model to include the internal organizational factors and external environmental factors. We conducted a survey study and use PLS to analyze the collected data. The results show that the extended FV model can interpret organizational IT adoption and IT usage. The purpose of adoption did have effect on the intention to adopt information technology. In the symbolic adoption situation, TEF and viability had significant impacts on organizational intention to adopt; and in the functional adoption situation, TTF and viability had significant impacts on organizational intention to adopt. Different purposes of adoption have less significant effect on the actual use and performance of information system. TTF and actual use had significant impacts on organizational performance, and viability also had significant impacts on actual use of information technology in both situations. In other words, organizations can also benefit from IT adoption even if the original motivation was symbolic.

The Effects of Online Sweepstakes Interactivity and Brand Product-Prize Fit on Brand Evaluation

Chieh Chiu, Chen 25 July 2012 (has links)
With the rapid development of Internet and E-Commerce in recent years, online sweepstakes have become one of the most favorite promotion tools. This study discusses the brand evaluation on interactivity of online sweepstakes, the complement of brand product-prize fit,the goal of brand product-prize fit and online users¡¦ demographics. This research adopts 2X2X2 experimental method and distributes online questionnaire, retrieving 387 samples and analyzing the data with SPSS 17.0. The results shows that the interactivity of online sweepstakes and the goal between the brand product and prize fit affect brand evaluation, but the complement of brand product-prize fit does not. Income and gender do not have moderating effect. Companies should held more highly interactive online sweepstakes and choose higher goal of brand product-prize fit product for prize. Thus,it will raise overall brand evaluation. This study therefore provides some practical advice to companies on online sweepstakes strategies in the future.

Longitudinal Data Analysis Using Multilevel Linear Modeling (MLM): Fitting an Optimal Variance-Covariance Structure

Lee, Yuan-Hsuan 2010 August 1900 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on issues related to fitting an optimal variance-covariance structure in multilevel linear modeling framework with two Monte Carlo simulation studies. In the first study, the author evaluated the performance of common fit statistics such as Likelihood Ratio Test (LRT), Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) and a new proposed method, standardized root mean square residual (SRMR), for selecting the correct within-subject covariance structure. Results from the simulated data suggested SRMR had the best performance in selecting the optimal covariance structure. A pharmaceutical example was also used to evaluate the performance of these fit statistics empirically. The LRT failed to decide which is a better model because LRT can only be used for nested models. SRMR, on the other hand, had congruent result as AIC and BIC and chose ARMA(1,1) as the optimal variance-covariance structure. In the second study, the author adopted a first-order autoregressive structure as the true within-subject V-C structure with variability in the intercept and slope (estimating [tau]00 and [tau]11 only) and investigated the consequence of misspecifying different levels/types of the V-C matrices simultaneously on the estimation and test of significance for the growth/fixed-effect and random-effect parameters, considering the size of the autoregressive parameter, magnitude of the fixed effect parameters, number of cases, and number of waves. The result of the simulation study showed that the commonly-used identity within-subject structure with unstructured between-subject matrix performed equally well as the true model in the evaluation of the criterion variables. On the other hand, other misspecified conditions, such as Under G & Over R conditions and Generally misspecified G & R conditions had biased standard error estimates for the fixed effect and lead to inflated Type I error rate or lowered statistical power. The two studies bridged the gap between the theory and practical application in the current literature. More research can be done to test the effectiveness of proposed SRMR in searching for the optimal V-C structure under different conditions and evaluate the impact of different types/levels of misspecification with various specifications of the within- and between- level V-C structures simultaneously.

Adoption of Mobile Technology in Business

Huang, Chen-Wei 30 July 2004 (has links)
Due to the development of mobile technology and the rapid growth of mobile commerce market, the demand of mobile technology adoption in business increases day by day. Hence the purpose of this thesis is to study the success of the mobile technology adoption in business and its determinants. When discussing about technology adoption, most researchers think Task-Technology fit is the most important and the only concept that has to be considered. Actually¡Awhether one company is suitable for implementing mobile technology determined by many reasons. Not only the fitness between task and technology but also many organizational factors have to be considered such as the economical readiness¡BIT Infrastructure and organization readiness. The three aspects are classified as ¡uViability¡v construct. The result shows that both the ¡uTask-Technology fit¡v and ¡uviability¡vwill effect the success of the mobile technology adoption.

The relationships of Human Resource Practices, Coporate Strategies and Organization Performance

Lu, Yi-Ching 15 February 2005 (has links)
Now, private and public service industries accounted for 68%GDP. It's almost the same as developed countries. Further, the service industries will be more and more important in Taiwan. Because, a service marketing and management filed has evolved that views the management of service firms differently from the management of manufacturing firms, the HRM of service industries is also different from that of manufacturing firms. In this article, I propose that ¡§HR practices¡¨ would yield increased¡§organization performance",and get increased ¡§organization performance¡¨through the fit of ¡§corporate strategy¡¨. In this article, the questionnaires were summarized the studies about HRM practice and corporate strategies in the service. Then, I implemented the empirical survey. The sample were the service firms that having sustainable competitive advantage. The survey had a response rate of 29 per cent, with a useable sample of 80 establishments. I examine the data using hierarchical regression, ANOVA analysis. In the article, the empirical survey shows that: 1. HR practices in service firms are of seven factors: (1) self-directed team operation (2) To use technologies or software to support employees's tasks. (3) To value employee security (4) multiple and elaborate assessment policy (5) the selection of preferring the candidates that having high skills and knowledge. (6) To value the training, coaching and mentoring. (7) The incentive policies depend on the performance. 2. There is a positive relationships and effect between HR practices and organization performance. 3. Differences of human resource management practices due to the differences of organization performance. 4. The corporate strategy has the moderating effects on the relationship between human resource management practices and organization performance. The main contribution of this article is that I try to discover the relationship between HR practices and organization performance through the two perspectives: universalistic perspective and contingency perspective. I find out the core HR practices and the HR practices that fit the corporate strategy.

Using the Technology Acceptance Model to investigate the Success Factors of e-business construction industries - A case study of L company

Cheng, Chung-Chun 12 June 2006 (has links)
The authority of domestic construction industry, the construction and planning agency, is in view of the behind degree than other industry in the wave of electronic business. The government especially has budgeted to subsidize and encourage the construction industries to combine the upper and lower supplier to cooperate and share the information with each other through the electronic business and then promote the competition. The research mainly takes technology acceptance model for basis to discuss the acceptance degree of the lower supplier and the utilization in ¡§electronic business information system construction industries¡¨. It is useful to understand and mobilize the success factors and the influential degree for ¡§the electronic business of construction industries¡¨. The conclusion of this thesis shows that the critical success factors of the electronic business of the construction industries are orderly external computer support and training, internal computer support and training, user experience, website quality, technology and task-technology fit theory. When the construction industries are implementing the relative information systems, the above influential factors could be used as the strategy reference of adjustment.

Factors Affecting the Adoption of Mobile Technology ¡Xthe Fit-Viability Perspective

Huang, Hsiao-chun 21 January 2007 (has links)
The increased popularity in mobile devices and technology has motivated business to adopt the technology for increased productivity. However, not much research has investigated the adoption of mobile technology. The purpose of this thesis is to study the factors that influence the adoption of mobile technology and to develop a model of mobile technology adoption. The model can serve as a foundation for future research and provide useful guidelines for organizations that plan to adopting mobile technology. The model suggests two categories of factors that determine the decision of adopting mobile technology: fit and viability. Fit measures whether the functional capabilities of mobile technology match the need of a task, whereas viability measures whether an organization is ready for the technology. This research develops instruments for measuring fit and viability. A survey was conducted to collect data for model evaluation. Major findings from the study include: (1) the fitness between task and technology had a direct positive impact on the success of mobile system adoption. (2) Personal characteristic and organizational viability had indirect positive impacts on the success of mobile system adoption via the mediation of system quality. (3) Personal characteristic and organizational viability had positive impacts on the information quality and system quality but had no impact to the service quality. (4) Only the system quality had a positive impact on the success of mobile system adoption.

Liu, Ya-Wen 09 February 2007 (has links)
In recent years, due to the opening and development of political economy, the trend of global operations and especially the manage modes of pursuing performance which are used by trader of Taiwan transnational enterprises in china that cause the demands of integration and control enterprise's resources, enterprise¡¦s procedures and information systems are growing day by day. On the other hand, it is using global thinking tactics that adopt. Before Taiwanese enterprise head toward the ways of transnational management and organizing, they not only ought to understand all the resources and operation conditions covered all domestic and international enterprises, but also need to combine all of them. In addition, they have to integrate upper and lower supplier, and make them become the complete supply chain mode as well. Furthermore, Taiwanese enterprise has to faces the global competition. Therefore rapidly response to the market and customer needed, smoothly communicate with upper and lower suppliers are indeed requirements. Hence, enterprises need Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to achieve this ideal goal. This case study using the passive component industry company to be the example, we use different methods such as deep interview, actually observe, collect the documents, and file information and so on to research the selected object. We also do the research by content analysis approach the doing amount of themes on case study. Finally, using the conclusion of this case study to analyze inter dynamic relations between the task and technology from the staffs in different branch and making it as starting point. And then, depend on their mix right level and after the case study company led in the information system to compare the influence factor of the job performance and its characteristics of staff. The goals of this research are as follows: 1.A Research on the theory of task technology fit to implement the ERP system of Taiwanese enterprises in Taiwan and China. 2.Using the content analysis method to compare enterprise staffs who come from different geographical areas and cultural environment, and research the relationships between the Task Technology Fit¡Bpersonal character¡Binformation System using and job performance.

Liou, Jiuun-Chang 15 July 2000 (has links)
Abstract This article brings together some themes in organizational behavior: (1) the application of ¡§Q-sorts¡¨ approaches to assessing person-organization culture fit. (2) Analysis of interaction in no-turnover intention with person-organization culture fit. (3) Analyses of interaction in no-turnover intention with organization commitment and job satisfaction. Using data from employees of Chinese Petroleum Corporation in Taiwan. We used an instrument for assessing person-organization culture fit. The instrument is Organizational Culture Profile (OCP). Results indicated that no-turnover intention was predicted by person-organization culture fit, Organization commitment and job satisfaction, And also by their demographic similarity of age, curriculum, job position, family etc. But have negative relationship with educational level. Finally, results suggested the top management of CPC. They can create some good culture for competition in business, than manage most employees of CPC keeping in low turnover intention by good level of person-organization culture fit.
