Strategy for Medical Cosmeceutical Business in Primary Dermatological Clinics ¡V A Case Study of C Dermatological Clinic

Shih, Chia-chi 05 July 2008 (has links)
Medical cosmeceutical business, combining medical and cosmetic profession, is considered one of the booming sectors among self-provided services under the National Health Insurance program in Taiwan. In the past, dermatological clinics had the advantages of medical profession; however, without strict law restrictions, numerous medical ¡§cosmeceutical centers¡¨ have emerged rapidly and intensified the market competition significantly. This research investigated and analyzed the current status of medical cosmeceutical industry in detail by collecting the second source data and studying the case of C Dermatological Clinic. The SWOT and five-force analysis are used to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of C Dermatological Clinic, thereby, business strategies are provided. The results indicate that minimally invasive treatment is the trend of medical cosmeceutical business in the future. Due to the excellent location, professional medical teams, advanced equipments, individual proprietorship and strong marketing task force, C Dermatological Clinic, has built up a great reputation in this industry and now provides its customers total solution packages by incorporating plastic surgeon into the services. Catching the opportunities of the continuous progress in biotechnology and growing public awareness of cosmeceutical therapy, C Dermatological Clinic has successfully become one of the most important players in the growing medical cosmeceutical market. However, after the Taiwan high speed rail in operating (which broke the entry barrier of distance between cities), the threats of new entrants including medical laser suppliers, cosmetic or salon shops, and other special medical institutes, the medical cosmeceutical market becomes more competitive. Facing the emerging medical tourism demand and the pervasion of internet, We suggest that C Dermatological Clinic should aggressively improve its weaknesses such as poor computer knowledge, lack of service attitude and bad decision quality, strengthen its customer service training, pay more attention to the customer relationship management, make best use of internet to promote the clinic, and ally with tourist bureaus or hotels to expand its share in this market and develop a sustainable business model.

In-situ Chemical Synthesis and Light Emitting Diodes of Non-fully Conjugated Heterocyclic Aromatic Polymer with Functionalized Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes

Lin, Jun-shao 12 July 2008 (has links)
Luminescent emission of partially conjugated homopolymers was successfully demonstrated as light emitting diodes (LEDs). A series of coil-like heterocyclic aromatic poly(2,2¡¦-phenyl-5,5¡¦-bibenzimiazole) (Pbi) was synthesized and derivatized with alkyl pendants for changing the band gap to form different electroluminescence (EL) emissions. Because of the entropy and van der Waals' interaction, multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT) tends to aggregate. In this investigation, chemical synthesis was applied to functionalize the MWNT. MWNT was esterificated by incorporating the functional group (-COOC10H21) to reduce its aspect ratio to facilitate its dispersion in the Pbi solution. MWNT-COOC10H21 was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared, elemental analysis, Raman spectrum and thermogravimetric analysis. In the polymer light emitting devices, Pbi mixed with MWNT-COOC10H21 would decrease threshold voltage for about 2 V, and the device emission current was increased 5~10 times of magnitude than those of devices without MWNT- COOC10H21. Pbi was in-situ polymerized with acidified multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWNT- COOH) for polymer LED fabrication. The emission current of these devices was still increased 10~15 times but no threshold voltage decrease compared to those of Pbi polymer solution-mixed with MWNT-COOC10H21. The polymer LED Commission International del'Eclairage chromatic indices were about the same for Pbi mixed with MWNT-COOC10H21 or in-situ polymerized with MWNT-COOH.

LED lighting industry in Taiwan-A case study

Tsai, Tsung-hsun 18 August 2008 (has links)
To cope with the global trend of energy conservation, LED lighting industry has become a new generation of the mainstream market. With the features of low energy consumption and pretty looks, LED lighting will replace the traditional lighting market. According to the institute study, it is estimated that the global lighting market will grow to 94 billion U.S. dollars by 2010. In order to identify the key elements of Taiwan's Lighting industry development, Michael Porter's five forces Model and SWOT analysis has been adopted in this paper. A domestic LED lighting manufacturer-D Co, Ltd. was interviewed as a case study in this paper. The results indicated that the advantage of Taiwan¡¦s lighting industry development advantage lies in the well industrial chain integrity, professional and technical research and development staff. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that LED lighting products are priced too high. If the production can not achieve economies of scale, it is difficult to promote products. The paper proposes from both marketing and production operations to improve in marketing. To formulate business strategy and understand the market needs of customers and how to achieve customized marketing for D Company is the urgent need to address. For the aspect of production, the performance measurement systems must be established to strengthen research and development and technical staff production performance. In addition, it must have a sound accounting system and management information system to enable the overall operation of D Company and to improve the allocation of production resources for maximum effectiveness.

The Conception, Structure and Change of Middle-Class ¡GA Study of Public Employment Regime in Taiwan

Huang, Mei-lan 29 January 2010 (has links)
To the progress of social development, the middle-class has the ability to maintain the stable of social order development and the promotion of rational revolution. Among them, the location of labor is an important influential factor to the structure and change of classes. After the social change like industrialization and land reform, the middle-class in Taiwan appeared highly developed. However, with the circulation of the global capital, the employment position of labor markets had a division into two opposing extremes, which had cause the danger and anxiety among the middle-class. In this study, we take the view point of public employment regime to discuss how the State using the administrative power to stimulate labor, and how did they enforce social reform from the middle-class to reduce the opposition and confliction among classes. First, we take an observation on the long term Taiwan employment situation transition. We found out that, in order to promote the middle-class, we should place importance on the individual employment problems to provide education and employment training courses to reduce the long term unemployment. Second, we take the operation of the ¡¥short term employment promotion project¡¦ for consideration. We realized that in order to positively promote labor. We should think over the ¡¥lawful long term employment service¡¦ to enforce the employment service ability by ensuring the accountability and responsibility of administration departments by law; guarantee the occupation training; and enforce the ability of employment service department. Our suggestion is that, we should face squarely on the roles of Taiwan's middle-classes played on the autonomy and public sphere, and focus on the moderate social forces they had to avoid confliction and opposition to establish harmonious and mutually beneficial society.

CFD models for polydispersed bubbly flows

Krepper, Eckhard, Lucas, Dirk 31 March 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Many flow regimes in Nuclear Reactor Safety Research are characterized by multiphase flows, with one phase being a continuous liquid and the other phase consisting of gas or vapour of the liquid phase. In dependence on the void fraction of the gaseous phase the flow regimes e.g. in vertical pipes are varying from bubbly flows with low and higher volume fraction of bubbles to slug flow, churn turbulent flow, annular flow and finally to droplet flow. In the regime of bubbly and slug flow the multiphase flow shows a spectrum of different bubble sizes. While disperse bubbly flows with low gas volume fraction are mostly mono-disperse, an increase of the gas volume fraction leads to a broader bubble size distribution due to breakup and coalescence of bubbles. Bubbles of different sizes are subject to lateral migration due to forces acting in lateral direction different from the main drag force direction. The bubble lift force was found to change the sign dependent on the bubble size. Consequently this lateral migration leads to a de-mixing of small and large bubbles and to further coalescence of large bubbles migrating towards the pipe center into even larger Taylor bubbles or slugs. An adequate modeling has to consider all these phenomena. A Multi Bubble Size Class Test Solver has been developed to investigate these effects and test the influence of different model approaches. Basing on the results of these investigations a generalized inhomogeneous Multiple Size Group (MUSIG) Model based on the Eulerian modeling framework has been proposed and was finally implemented into the CFD code CFX. Within this model the dispersed gaseous phase is divided into N inhomogeneous velocity groups (phases) and each of these groups is subdivided into Mj bubble size classes. Bubble breakup and coalescence processes between all bubble size classes Mj are taken into account by appropriate models. The inhomogeneous MUSIG model has been validated against experimental data from the TOPFLOW test facility.
