Das Frauenbild in den Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm / The women in the fairy tales of the Brothers GrimmHolmström, Emelie January 2017 (has links)
In this essay the point of interest will be the portrayal of women in literature. In the belief that gender roles can influence children in their childhood, four fairytales written by the brothers Grimm will be analyzed. These four short stories mentioned are Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Mother Hulda, which are all well-known and have been adapted into movies. The purpose is to examine possible gender stereotypes in these four short stories and patterns in the portrayal of women. The fairytales have been criticized by feminists for being very stereotypical and the intention with this study is to explore this aspect in a new light. Are there strong female role models that are not evil and why do some bad women not get punished even though they deserve it?

Image de la femme dans la litterature SwahiliBertoncini-Zubkova, Elena 29 August 2012 (has links) (PDF)
In the traditional Swahili literature description has a secondary role. Characters` portrayals are limited to a few stereotyped attributes, because they represent types, not individualized characters The model of women`s beauty is taken from Arabic literature: round face, black, flowing hair, big eyes, teeth like pealls with beautiful gaps in between, slender neck... This model is valid to a large extent also in modern novels.. Thus, the complexion of an ideal woman is as clear as possible; even up-rountry heroines are often light-roloured `as a half-cast` or at least bronzed. They are preferably of medium height, lump, but with a slender waist and well-shaped legs.
