GNSS and Inertial Fused Navigation Filter Simulation

Rogers, Jonas Paul 23 January 2018 (has links)
A navigation filter simulation and analysis environment was developed through the integration of DRAGON, a high fidelity real-time PNT sensor measurement source, and Scorpion, a modular navigation filter implementation framework. The envi- ronment allows navigation filters to be prototyped and tested in varying complex scenarios with a configurable set of navigation sensors including GNSS and IMU. An analysis of an EKF using the environment showed the utility and functionality of the system.

Materials Informatics Approach to Material Extrusion Additive Manufacturing

Braconnier, Daniel J 13 April 2018 (has links)
Process-structure-property relationships in material extrusion additive manufacturing (MEAM) are complex, non-linear, and poorly understood. Without proper characterization of the effects of each processing parameter, products produced through fused filament fabrication (FFF) and other MEAM processes may not successfully reach the material properties required of the usage environment. The two aims of this thesis were to first use an informatics approach to design a workflow that would ensure the collection of high pedigree data from each stage of the printing process; second, to apply the workflow, in conjunction with a design of experiments (DOE), to investigate FFF processing parameters. Environmental, material, and print conditions that may impact performance were monitored to ensure that relevant data was collected in a consistent manner. Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) filament was used to print ASTM D638 Type V tensile bars. MakerBot Replicator 2X, Ultimaker 3, and Zortrax M200 were used to fabricate the tensile bars. Data was analyzed using multivariate statistical techniques, including principal component analysis (PCA). The magnitude of effect of layer thickness, extrusion temperature, print speed, and print bed temperature on the tensile properties of the final print were determined. Other characterization techniques used in this thesis included: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results demonstrated that printer selection is incredibly important and changes the effects of print parameters; moreover, further investigation is needed to determine the sources of these differences.

The Research and Simulation Analysis of Novel Fused Fiber Coupler For Sensor

Lao, Kuong-Chu 09 August 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to use multi-functional optical fiber processing platform produce 2X2 single-mode fiber coupler, and use theory and simulation to analyze, as the basis of the starting, development of novel fused coupler device. The characteristics of this coupler is a 2x2 single-mode fiber coupler in which a single-mode fiber replaced by our laboratory to manufacture the capillary fiber. The use of this coupler is similar to the use of single-mode fiber refractive index of the solution pumped capillary fiber to a liquid switch fiber coupler. We know that the refractive index decreases as the wavelength increases, the slope of the different materials for this change is different, and due to the different materials, the thermal coefficient of refractive index is different, so we can be found in the case of different temperatures, the refractive index of the two materials are equal, and other wavelength is different, therefore, only when the same refractive index of the wavelength in order to fully coupled. The advantages of this coupling is temperature control of its maximum coupling wavelength range, and the capillary fiber core is liquid, we can use this measurement technique for the development of liquid, if the later then the single-mode fiber to replace the other refractive index different fiber, you can use this method to measure the other liquid. Next, use simulation software to simulate this coupler, the coupling wavelength and coupling efficiency values of the change in refractive index different cases, in order to facilitate the produce this novel fused coupler device.

Fabrication and Wavelength Separation Analysis of 3¡Ñ3 Fused Tapered Optical Fiber Coupler

Chen, Yueh-shen 30 August 2012 (has links)
Use the adjustable diameter fiber splicing platform to manufactured coupler, N fibers were put into the appropriate aperture silica capillaries, and then changed the taper model to manufactured fiber coupler [1], and adjusted the taper model and fusion parameters to reduce the fiber transmission loss and reduce the diameter of the fibers to achieve the optical coupling effect. We preferred to the Eisenmann & Weidel in 1988 [2]. It is a low loss of the fusion type equilateral triangle of 3¡Ñ3 fiber coupler. And we will study the asymmetric shape of an 3¡Ñ3 fiber coupler, the research method is the use of arc heating. The fiber has smaller heating area and the heating position which can be controlled. With the parameters which BeamPorp, we cut the fiber coupler and to discuss its cross-section. By the different geometric distribution of fibers, and the core spacing, we discuss the spectra of the OSA to change the coupling site. We changed the interior structure to make the power coupling to a marked effect; if we could control the asymmetric coupler explicitly then we could achieve the transmission power [3], power coupling, and the multiple spectra of light.

Synthesis of Hexa-O-Substituted Hexaazatriphenylene and Its Application (I)

Liao, Shu-Chih 15 July 2000 (has links)
Disc like molecule which was formed by fused polyaromatics was found to be with discotic liquid crystal properties. So it has been researched thoroughly. We take 5,6,11,12,17,18-hexaazatrinaphthylene (HTN) as our central core and synthesize Hexa-O-substituted hexaazatriphenylene, a new molecule with discotic liquid crystal properties successfully.

Finite Element Simulation of Nanoindentation on Fused Silica

Hung, Che-yuan 09 July 2008 (has links)
¡@¡@The purpose of thesis is to study the responses of nanoindentation in fused silica. By experiments the mechanical properties of intrinsic fused silica were obtained. From the finite element simulation the response of material was estimated. Our main work is on simulation. This part includes the effects of different coefficient of friction, different indentation depth, tip rounding, and substrates of thin films. ¡@¡@First, the experimental load¡Vdisplacement curves were obtained through the nanoindentation sensing system. Then, a three-dimensional finite element was successfully modeled through the comparison of the load¡Vdisplacement curves of the experiment and the simulation. The yield stress and the strain-hardness trend of intrinsic fused silica were obtained. ¡@¡@For different coefficient of friction and different tip radii, no significant differences were found through the load¡Vdisplacement curves and von Mises stress distributions. For different indentation depths, varied trends were found through the load¡Vdisplacement curves and von Mises stress distributions. For substrate effect, no significant differences could be found through the normalized hardness. The intrinsic film hardness could be obtained for indentation depth less 20% of the total indentation depth.
