As dist?ncias testadas foram a Dist?ncia Euclidiana, Dist?ncia Euclidiana M?dia, Dist?ncia Euclidiana Ponderada e Dist?ncia Euclidiana Quadr?tica. In the Chapter 1, was tested the profiles similarity method combined with different measures of similarity, taper models, parameter estimation methods representative of groups without equation and different generation methods of volumetric equations. The data used were 3.620 felled and cubed trees, divided in 62 groups. The variables measured were DBH, total height, and diameters along the stem in positions 0.00; 0.50; 1.00; 1.50 e 2.00 meters, and to this, the sections were measured from 2.0 to 2.0 meters, up to the total height. The volumetric model of Schumacher and Hall was adjusted by group. Taper models used were Kozak model, Garcia model, Ormerod model and The Fiftieth Degree Polynomial. The distances tested were Euclidean Distance, Mean Euclidean Distance, Weighted Euclidean Distance, and Quadratic Euclidean Distance. Two parameter estimation methods from to taper models were tested (3 trees; and the parameters of the tree nearest to the mean diameter) and three generation methods of volumetric equations (equation similar group, equation of 30 most similar trees and equation generated from the number of trees respect to 5 trees per diameter class for group without defined equation), the combination of them, results in five procedures tested. The statistics used to check the quality of the estimates were bias, root mean square error, correlation coefficient and graphic residual analysis. The validation was performed using independent data for 4 groups. The results indicated that there was no difference between the similarity measures used. The best models were the Fifth Degree Polynomial and Kozak, being the second most indicated due to its ease of adjust. The generation method of the equation based on the 30 most similar trees provided the best volumetric estimates. In the Chapter 2, was used artificial neural networks to estimate the volume of individual trees. The data were the same as used in Chapter 1. The input variables were used: input 1 (DBH, total height, diameters at 0.00; 0.50; 1.00; 1.50 e 2.00 meters); input 2 (addition volume of up to 2 meters); input 3 (addition of slenderness degree) and input 4 (addition of categorical variable representing the form of the stem up to 2 meters). The 5 best networks by set of input variables were retained. The data were divided into 60% for training, 20% for testing and 20% for generalization of the network. To evaluate the estimates were used the statistical bias, root mean square error, correlation coefficient and graphic residual analysis. The best method for generating neural network was applied to independent data to evaluate the quality of the volume estimates. The neural networks provided the best estimates were generated by the set of input variables 2 (DBH, total height, diameter at 0.00, 0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00 meters in height and volume to 2 meters).

One of the most important and difficult part in the design of piles is estimate axial load capacity for those structural elements. This difficulty and complexity is caused by the unpredictable behavior of the soil and many methodologies that exist to estimate the load capacity of the piles. The professionals in charged for this work often have complications in the selection of methods and try to use their experience to select one of those, however this one couldn’t be the ideal method for the analyzed soil. On the other hand, dynamic load tests and the "Analysis of the stack wave analysis" (CAPWAP) are increasingly frequent to validate the length and the real load capacity. In this work we have used data from 2 pilots of tubular steel of 812.8 mm in diameter and 18 mm and wall thickness, which have been used in coastal soil consisting mainly of sandy gravel and silty sand. Then, we created a database of soil geotechnical parameters and results of axial load capacity for tip and fuse of PDA tests. Later, analytical and empirical methodologies will be analyzed to estimate the capacity of axial load by tip and shaft of tubular steel piles. Finally, the results of the tasks of the PDA are compared and the values of the estimated load capacity that are obtained from the most appropriate methodologies for the type of soil analyzed in the tip and shaft calculation are compared. / Tesis

The remnant has approximately 162 hectares and is located on the Experimental Moura?s Farm in Curvelo, MG, which were systematically allocated 25 plots of 400 m? (10 X 40 m), and all the individuals of the woody compartment who had bole with a DBH ? 5 cm were recorded values?? of DBHs, total height and bole, and categorical attributes related to the sanity and tortuosity of the boles. Were sampled 1105 individuals in 114 species, 41 families and 91 genera. The values? ?found for the index of Shannon Weaver diversity and evenness were 3.91 and 0.82 respectively. By volume analysis, it was found that models that use basal area and the average height as independent variables have rough estimates to quantify the stand volume, being indicated for this purpose. Similarly, the methodology of artificial neural networks also proved to be efficient in quantifying the volume of native forests in the conditions of this study, by the test and significance level adopted. The association of categorical variables to continuous in the input layers of neural networks generated, did not result in more accurate estimates by the conditions assumed in this work.

The objective of this work was to compare two ways of volume estimations: mathematical models through regression methods and the artificial neural networks. The data set used came from the second rotation of the experiment containing 15 clones, of Eucalyptus spp., implanted at the Experimental Station of the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA), located in the Araripe region, Pernambuco, Brazil. The data set was composed of 2199 trees, cubed by the Smalian method. It was measured the total height, stem height and diameters at several position in the bole. For modeling, the trees were grouped using the Skott-Knott test, per clone and for all the clones together. The evaluation of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) adjustments considered two forms of input of the independent variables: a) volume sections and b) diameter at breast height (DBH) and total height (Ht). The performance of the mathematical volumetric models and ANN was based on Schlaegel fitting index (IAaj), root mean squared error in percentage (RMSE%) and graphic residuals analysis. According to the results, the Schumacher-Hall model presented better statistical performance for estimating the individual volume of Eucalyptus spp. The Artificial Neural Network considering the volume of the sections as input variables was superior when comparing with DBH and Ht as input variables. The Silva-Borders model and Artificial Neural Networks considering the volume of the sections as input variables are more practical to measure volumes because they do not consider the variable Ht, which is often difficult to measure in the field and costly.

The aim of this research consisted adjust a model of factor of form and model of afilamento caribaea Pinus to var. caribaea Barr. et Golf. for the region Center-South of Mato Grosso. Deterinação da biomassa e altura de amostragem para a quantificação de nutrientes em Acacia mearnsii De Wild / Biomass determination and sampling point for nutrients quantification in Acacia mearnsii De Wild

Saidelles, Fabio Luiz Fleig 24 June 2005 (has links)
The objective of this study was to quantify the biomass and to determine the optimal sampling point for nutrients quantification in four year old Acacia mearnsii trees. It was conducted in black wattle stand, located in Arroio dos Ratos city in a farm belonging to SETA S/A, having as coordinates 30° 07 12 of south latitude and 51° 57 45 of longitude, with 90 m of average altitude. The first step was the forest inventory, where 30 trees were felled, distributed in 7 diametric classes, to cover the stand heterogeneity, then the biomass and the nutrients amount in the leaves, live branches, dead branches, roots, wood and bark were determined. Samples of wood and bark were taken along the stem in the posítions of: 1, 3, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90% of the total height. The total amount of carbon stored in the biomass was 29,79 Mg ha-1, allocated 64% in the wood, 11% in the roots, 9% in the bark, 7% in the live branches and 4% in the dead branches and leaves. The nutrients Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn didn t show significant difference along the stem to wood and bark, indicating that there isn t an exact point for sampling along the stem to nutrients quantification. The optimal sampling point to nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) quantification along the stem should be 50% from the total height in Acacia mearnsii trees / O objetivo deste estudo foi quantificar a biomassa e determinar o ponto ótimo de amostragem para a quantificação de nutrientes em árvores de Acacia mearnsii com quatro anos de idade. Deste total, o componente folha acumulou 20% do N, 18% do P e Cu, 12% do K, 5% do Ca e Fe, 10% do Mg e S, 17% do B, 19% do Mn e 6% do Zn; as raízes acumularam 14% do N, Cu , Mn e Zn, 11% do P e K, 8% do Ca, 7% do Mg, 15% do S, 17% do B e 66% do Fe; a madeira acumulou 21% do N, 27% do P, 30% do K, 50% do Ca, 36% do Mg, 45% do S, 26% do B e Mn, 37% do Cu, 9% do Fe e 41% do Zn; a casca acumulou 22% do N e Mg, 17% do P, 21% do P e Ca, 22% do Mg, 10% do S, Fe e Cu, 20% do B e Mn e 12% do Zn; os galhos mortos acumularam 8% do N, S e B, 6% do P, 4% do K, 7% do Ca, 11% do Mg, Cu e Zn, 5% do Fe e 9% do Mn; os galhos vivos acumularam 15% do N, 21% do P, 22% do K, 9% do Ca, 13% do Mg e B, 12% do S e Mn, 10% do Cu, 5% do Fe e 16% do Zn.
