"Hlavně ať je to dítě zdravé!": Rodičovství v kontextu péče o dítě s chronickou nemocí / "Just let it be a healthy child!": Parenting in the Context of Caring of a Child with a Chronic Illlness

Tampierová, Lenka January 2017 (has links)
My diploma thesis deals with issues of gender relations and the construction of identities of lived experiences of parents caring for a child (children) with a chronic illness. For my qualitative research, I have chosen the method of semi-structured interviews with both parents of the child (children). Subsequent analysis of the data in this empirical study examines the way in which care for a child with chronic illness affects, due to its demanding character, gender relations and whether it leads to more balanced gender relations or vice versa. I also deal with the process of identifying both parents in the day care of a child with chronic illness in the context of a combination of paid work and home care and children. In my work, I see how my communication partners are conceptualizing the chronic illness of the child as a differentness and the care of a child with a chronic illness as a burden. I focus on the emotional plane of parenthood and also analyze the processes of negotiation within different institutions (health and education organizations, state authorities). Key words: Chronic illness, child, parenthood, differentness, burden, care, gender relations

"Nás holek je tu málo, a to je škoda". Nízký počet studentek na technicky zaměřených středních školách / "There are not many of us girls and that is a shame". Low number of female students at technical secondary schools

Nguyenová, Monika January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis is attentive to very low numbers of girls, studying at technically oriented secondary industrial schools. It examines the factors, which lead to the reasons why girls are not motivated to study at the schools of this kind, as well as factors which cause that they do enter these schools, such as their interest in studying technologies, their motivation in the form of their future professional application or the existence of patterns in the form of people who they imitate. In the theoretical part, which examines the causes of the absence of female students, the work criticises the claim that boys are more talented for studying technical disciplines, while girls excel in humanities. It points to ways of keeping gender stereotyped thinking, for example, a strongly rooted opinion, that little girls should be led to take care of children and other persons, housework, and professions which are an extension of their domestic roles into the public sphere. After this work identifies the risks and impacts of the absence of girls in technical fields, there are mentioned some procedures that should be introduced in the education of children in elementary schools, so that the children may not have to decide on their future field of study based on generally accepted gender stereotypes. Based...

Padlé ženy: genderové vyobrazení žen v instituci vězení v české/československé filmové tvorbě / Fallen Women: Gender Imaging of Women in the Institution of Prison in Czech/Czechoslovak Film Production

Moravuszová, Klára January 2019 (has links)
The thesis deals with the construction of pictures of women who experienced with prison institution represented through films. From a gender perspective, the thesis analyzes how these structures are depicted and reflected as a part of the characters' stories in selected Czech and Czechoslovak films. The thesis consists of five parts. The first part introduces the theoretical background, then the second part focuses on the topic of gender and prison, or better said on the prison service in the Czech Republic. Part of this specification includes also the topic of power and women's crime; a large part is devoted also to gender-normative ideas in the institution of prison and the depiction of these topics in media (film). The fourth empirical part deals with methodological bases and the research methodology itself. The last fifth part presents the research and its results. The films reproduce the gender normative images of women thereby constantly anchoring them or disproving the concrete ideas about what the "right" and "desirable" women should be in order to be accepted in society. Linking women and the restrictive establishment of prison is one of the taboo-themed topics across the whole society. The thesis investigates how this topic is presented to the Czech and Czechoslovak film audience. Key...

Jak ženy v České republice reflektují způsob zobrazování žen v reklamě / The Czech women's view on representation of women in advertisement

Koláčková, Martina January 2020 (has links)
Master thesis The Czech Women's view on representation of women in advertisement focuses on the way advertisement reproduces gender stereotypes and sexism in the society. The analysis examines the view of female audience on this matters. The role of advertisement, gender roles and gender stereotypes, sexism and feminism are introduced in the beginning of this thesis. Main traits of sexism in advertisement are described. Possible impact of stereotyped and sexist advertisement on its viewers is demonstrated by introducing results of field related analyses. Based on interviews' analysis with selected group of women it was discovered that women view the representation of women in advertisement to be heavily stereotyped. Women in advertisement are reduced to the following categories: physically attractive and carefree, homemaker, naive and dull, and last but not least sex object. Even though female responders are able to identify some negative impacts of this stereotyped representation of women on both women's and men's lives, their concerns are undermined by their attitude towards advetisement which they do not consider to be capable of changing public attitudes and values. Female responders are convinced that gender discrimination against women is still present in the Czech Republic and advertisement...

Šebková, Natálie January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse methods of capturing and presenting women applied by selected Czech male and female photographers on the social network of Instagram. The first subchapter addresses the topic of digital photography, the transition from the analogue age to the digital one, and the manipulation of the photographic image. The second and third subchapters study social networks along with their impact on the contemporary society, focusing in detail on Instagram and its visual communication. The following part of the thesis addresses gender issues, gender stereotypes, and social inequalities, focusing apart from others on gender stereotypes in visual media and on social networks. The practical part is based on two approaches - a quantitative content analysis of visual communications, i.e. research into selected Instagram content by eight male and female photographers, and qualitative interviews with some of these authors. The main research question is: "What are the manifestations of deep-rooted gender stereotypes in depictions of women in photographs by selected Czech male/female photographers on Instagram?" Replies to this question were collected using six specific sub questions. The quantitative content analysis provided replies to sub questions dealing in particular with the...

Brněnský dialekt "hantec" optikou genderové lingvistiky / The Brno's dialect "hantec" from the gender perspective

Šebela, Michal January 2013 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is gender analysis of "hantec", a specific dialect spoken in the second largest city in the Czech Republic - Brno. The aim of the work is to search for differences between manifestation and perception of women/female and men/male in "hantec" from the perspective of gender linguistics. On example of local dialect I demonstrate how the general gender discourse prevails. By analysing the vocabulary and literary forms of "hantec" I want to show to what extent this dialect (specific for Brno) reflected the principles of gender inequality. The focus lies on the presence of language sexism and reproduction of gender stereotypes in "hantec". In the thesis I also document the historical development of "hantec" and how were the principles of gender inequality displayed in the different stages of its development.

Gender na dětském hřišti / Gender on the playground

Melicharová, Andrea January 2014 (has links)
Gender in the playground: Ethnographic research This hesis analyses the (re)production of gender stereotypes in the playground. The theoretical framework of the analysis is based on the classical approaches (Renzetti and Curran 2005 Jarkovská 2004) , gender socialization (Giddens 1999, Gilligan 2001 and Bem 2003) and is also inspired by current research on playgrounds (Paetcher, Clark 2003 Millan 2012). The research was conducted at a playground located in Beroun throughout years 2013 and 2014 as a non-participating observation of the visitors of the playground. The work presents a comprehensive view of gender and gender stereotypes reproduced at the playground in two areas: 1) the area of gender stereotypes in the playground reproduced by children and 2) the area of gender stereotypes which adult accompaniment brings to the field. Analysis shows the way in which these categories are (re)constructed and played out in everyday life and how they affect the subculture of the playground. The analysis is mainly based on the surprising finding that the children at the playground were accompanied by almost the same number of men as women. Other findings are related to the children themselves. Children in the playground do a lot of gaming activities, which is no longer so surprising and also proves that...

Vývoj a utváření identity ženy z pohledu psychologie / Development and formation of women's identity from psychological point of view

Borská, Alice January 2011 (has links)
The theme of this thesis is women's identity and a process of its development and formation. We specify theoretical basis through which it is possible to approach this subject. The theoretical part also pays attention to the process of biological differentiation of gender, to the question of a gender socialization and describes basic theoretical conceptions of development and formation of a sexual and gender identity which can be possibly found within the frame of psychology. The qualitative research enables to look at women's identity by the view of women themselves. Specific topics of an everyday lived experience appear from the analysis of interviews and these topics could be investigated deeper.
