The Future of Parkways in the LandscapeLoon, Leehu 28 May 2003 (has links)
Since the Depression era there has been an evolution in parkway usage. Parkways have outlived their recreational function and now must also serve as routes to recreational facilities. Since the elemental use of parkways has drastically changed, questions of how and why beg to be answered. How has parkway design and construction changed from the Depression era to today in terms of views, alignment, vegetation, natural and cultural features, and parkway details. How is parkway design and construction different from that of typical roadways; and how does this information effect the future design and construction of parkways? In addition, why can parkways no longer serve the same purpose that they did in the past?
This thesis examines these questions through the creation of the Lorton - Laurel Hill Parkway. The main characteristics studied in this thesis will continue to be vital in future parkway design and construction. This thesis expresses that parkways can no longer serve as a destination, but instead must become an introduction to a recreational facility.
Parkways will become increasingly important in the future as they can provide relief to congested roadways while simultaneously providing the motorist with an aesthetically pleasing entrance to recreational facilities. In the future, the components studied here must be instituted into highway and road engineering. The construction of motorways that incorporate parkway design principles will create more successful and vibrant routes between urban centers and their surrounding communities, and in so doing will increase the quality of life of its population. / Master of Landscape Architecture

MÃtodo de seleÃÃo de faixa para estudo de traÃado para obras lineares de infraestrutura de transportes / Track selection procedure for mapping study for construction transport infrastructure of linear.Pedro Almi da Costa Freire 08 December 2014 (has links)
The study of horizontal alignment for linear works presented is an issue of paramount importance in the design and definition of the guidelines to be studied for the preparation of transport infrastructure projects.
Setting the tracing of a track must be made observing the result of the study of alignment alternatives and comparing them, mathematically there is infinite possibilities for alignment alternatives between successive points making it difficult to choose a single solution.
The difficulty in defining criteria and objective parameters for determining an area of study and therefore the best alternative route led the study presented.
The current trace analysis is limited to pre-set guidelines on a limited number, which can induce choices paths leading unwanted higher costs and operating and maintenance conditions for future route.
It is proposed a better range setting method for the study of horizontal alignment for transport infrastructure projects based on topographic data considering deploying and operating costs.
The suggested method is the three-dimensional scan of the region which includes the work under study, pointing out the best tracks for development based on the topography design, considering geometric characteristics of the project, restriction areas, deployment and operating costs.
The proposed selection method was applied in a railway variant of eight kilometers, where 729 alternatives were analyzed and then set the best track for the study of horizontal alignment.
The results were compared to the executive project and the same considerations used in the project were made which demonstrated the feasibility of the methodology.

Optimalizace vybraných návrhových prvků ČSN pro projektování pozemních komunikací / Selected ČSN Road Design Elements OptimizationStránský, Jakub January 2015 (has links)
The master‘s thesis focuses on the optimization of the design values of curves of the horizontal alignments of the roads. It deals with the comparison of values between czech and foreign standards and differences between them. The practical part examines the values of the real speeds of vehicles passing through the curves of various parameters that were measured during measurements of selected curves during 2014. From these data a new design values are derived that could be used for the design of horizontal alignments.

Návrh okružní křižovatky silnic I/35, I/57 a II/150 při silném levém odbočení / Design of roundabout I/35, I/57 and II/150 with strong left-turnMahdal, Jan January 2014 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on insufficient capacity problem of roundabout I/35, I/57 and II/150 in the Valašské Meziříčí town. It is based on engineering survey according to which three possible models are designed. Capacity assesment is made on each of these models. Throug the evaluation is selected the most suitable design of turbo roundabout type "knee", which is technically processed and substantiated by text and drawing documentation.

Studie okružní křižovatky Bílinská v Teplicích / Teplice, Bílinská st. - roundabout designChladný, Miroslav January 2012 (has links)
The aim of my master´s thesis is to design documentation, at the level of study, for roundabout. The area of interest is defined by the crossroad of Lounská, Americká, Bílinská streets and the conection of existing road I/13 . This is the crossroad of local roads, which are functional group C-serving with the serving function. The aim of conversion of existing crossroad on the roundabout is to calm and clarify the traffic in the locality. There are also designed comunications for pedestrians in the locality. The study is solved in two variant of conection to existing road I/13.

Studie propojky dálnic D7 a D8 u Kralup nad Vltavou / Study of the junction of the D7 and D8 motorways near Kralupy nad VltavouDibďák, Jan Unknown Date (has links)
The subject of this masters thesis is preliminary design of III. phase connector road of D7 and D8 motorways near Kralupy nad Vltavou. The reason for this highway design is high traffic intensity. The highway is designed as a road type S9,5/90. Highway design includes two junctions. Junctions are designed in two variants, only one variant of each junction was finalized to more in-depth detail.
