This thesis is dealing with the problematic position of the upper house of the czech Parliament. In this thesis author is operating as with primary literature (i.e. laws and historic constitutional documents) in analysis historical moments of the czech parliamentarism, so with direct observation of the members of the Senate (in 11th term). Author was focusing himself on direct observations of the senate committees and plenary session of the Senate. With great help of the Senate's staff and senator Jaromír Jermář, all the members of the Senate was addressed with author's request to participate in research. Results of this research are basic cornerstone in order to answer the questions in the introduction about the sense and the role of the upper house of the czech Parliament. First chapter represents an introduction, where are the most important sources, metodology, questions entitled and this problematic is basically explained. The diploma thesis deals with so-called St Emmeram's Prayer preserved in Old High German and Old Church Slavonic manuscript versions. It summarises the up-to-date state of research. In the analytical part, on the ground of the structure of an Old High German confession formula a text analysis is carried out for both versions of the prayer, as well as for another Latin confession formula recorded in the b 9 manuscript. The Action Research Arm Test (ARAT) is a standardized tool, which is used for fine and gross motor skills evaluation of hemiparetic patients after stroke. It is widely used abroad thanks to its excellent psychometric properties and easy administration. It is also used in many foreign studies to evaluate the function of upper extremity, especially for neurological patients. Unfortunately, so far it has been used only sporadically in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part of this thesis the ARAT and the Modified Frenchay Scale (referred as "MFS") is described. In the practical part, the MFS is compared with the ARAT. The main aim of this diploma thesis is a pilot comparison of sensitivity of upper limb motor skills evaluation done by ARAT and MFS. Thirty patients after stroke were tested in the Rehabilitation Center Kladruby in three weeks. They were further divided into three intervention groups according to the severity of the paresis (light, medium, heavy). The analysis of the results shows that the sensitivity of both diagnostic tools is statistically comparable. According to the Spearman correlation coefficient, the ARAT and the MFS correlate very strongly in range of 0.96-0.98. The presented diploma thesis deals with the church policy of the Bohemian King John of Bohemia in relation to Upper Lusatia and the Duchy of Wrocław. The areas which thanks to John's successful territorial policy have become an integral part of the Bohemian Kingdom for several centuries. As the named countries belonged to the indivisible dominions of the Bohemian ruler, he was able to fully develop there his donor activities. The research is based on an analysis of available sources especially of a diplomatic nature and is also focused on narrative sources. The aim of this work is to analyse and interpret John's relationship to church institutions especially chapters and monasteries in defined regions. Attention is also paid to the ecclesiastical patronage of Henry of Jawor a longtime competitor of John of Bohemia in the struggle for Upper Lusatia, who ruled over Görlitz until 1329 and over part of Upper Lusatia until the end of his life († 1346). The work would like to contribute to the evaluation of John's support for church institutions, which was aimed at strengthening his position in these areas. Medieval religious architecture in the upper Otava until 1420 The diploma thesis the medieval religious architecture in the upper Otava region until 1420, and aims to put it into a historical context. The review of the existing literature sources leveraged understanding of the architectural movements used before 1420: the Gothic and Romanesque styles. These styles posses certain significant characteristics that can be used to map their development, as well as comparison of those two. The objects can be split into categories based on those characteristics. This paper looks at those categories and studies the development within.

The work presents a summary of the importance of mining in a specific region of the Ore Mountains and how this led to the emergence of the mining town of Jáchymov.The origins of Jáchymov agglomeration is linked to the family of Slik. The following chapters discusses their family, their asset base and foundation. The main part is devoted to the architektur. The aim of thesis is try to define building and urban development of town Jachymov in 16th century. The work presents translocation and the relocation of settlements from the center of the parish church of All Saints to St. Jáchym. The thesis should notice the time when the two churches arose by looking back at the historical situation in the 16th century Bohemia.

This diploma thesis deals with the design of repairs to the asphalt concrete facing of the upper reservoir of the pump-storage power station Dlouhé Strána. The first part summarizes the knowledge about asphalt concrete facings, experience from foreign constructions and a description of the damage on this hydraulic structure. The second part defines the variants of repairs and the selection of the most suitable on the basis of decision analysis.

My thesis treats of the problems of observance of the human rights and protection of rights of the customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá. Theoretical part is divided into 5 chapters, when the first one defines the concept of growing old and old age. The second chapter treats of the social services in the Czech Republic and is focusing on the retirements homes. In this chapter I mention the law of social services, which defines basic sorts of social services, kinds of delivering services, care allowance and above all defines retirements homes. In the third chapter there are described norms of quality of social services with focus on the norm No. 2 {--} protection of rights of persons. The fourth chapter called Ethical aspects in the care of elderly in the retirements homes treats of human rights in the society, Church and social services and then also treats of basic human rights of customers in social services. The last chapter describes the Retirements homes in Horní Planá. The practical part of the thesis is created by two types of semi-controlled interviews. The first one was made with customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá and studies if the rights of the customers are kept. The second one was made with the staff of social services {--} direct service, which investigated if the rights of customers of the Retirements homes in Horní Planá are kept.

When France rejected to join the Great Britain in military intervention in Egypt in 1882, the British decided to put down the policy of dual control in Egypt. This decision influenced the mutual relations of both countries for more than twenty years. The aim of this thesis was to analyse the attitude of France towards the British presence in Egypt. Thesis deals with development of the mutual British-French relations from 1882 to 1904 with regard to their interests in Egypt and Upper Nile valley. Through the signature of the Entente cordiale on April 8, 1904 France and Great Britain settled their colonial disputes and started the mutual cooperation, which inaugurated the formation of the blocks which clashed in the First World War in 1914.

TITLE Motifs of Sorbian Lusatia in contemporary literature focusing on the genre of modern fairy-tale AUTHOR Bc. Tereza Valášková DEPARTMENT Department of German Studies SUPERVISOR PhDr. Tamara Bučková, Ph.D ABSTRACT This master thesis deals with the motifs of Sorbian Lusatia in the selected modern fairy-tales in contemporary children's and young adult literature. The problem is explained on the basis of fifteen books by eight Sorbian writers and one German writer. The motifs of Sorbian Lusatia are sought in the Sorbian cultural history, mythology and folklore. This master thesis wants to prove, if motifs of Sorbian Lusatia are used in contemporary children's and young adult literature of the selected authors in the genre of modern fairy-tale. It demonstrates that the issues associated with the culture of this West Slavic minority are in contemporary, especially in Sorbian, but also German literature, a popular source of multicultural enrichment in Europe, which is threatened by monoculture. The methods include especially motif analysis, verification or falsification of the hypothesis, then interpretation and comparison.
