Reforma kanadského azylového systému / Reform of Canadian asylum system

Staňková, Lenka January 2012 (has links)
The Master thesis The Reform of Canada's Asylum System deals with the refugee issue in Canada. Canada's asylum system has been the subject of controversy almost since its inception in the 1970s. The asylum system has been crippled by a cumbersome inland refugee determination process which resulted in a huge backlog of unresolved asylum claims. Even though various governments have tried to reform the dysfunctional system, newly implemented measures only have led to even bigger backlog and longer delays, which encourage people who are not in need of protection to make an asylum claim knowing they will be able to skip the regular but lengthy immigration process and have immediate access to a range of generous social benefits. The thesis analyzes the problems of the existing asylum system which are seen in a general access to the refugee determination process, in its expensiveness, in the inefficiency of the immigration authorities, and in long delays allowing the asylum seekers to live and work in Canada for many years. Analyzing the expected outcomes of the new reform, the thesis assesses whether the new proposal of Canadian refugee and asylum policy will be finally successful in resolving the problems that are crippling Canada's asylum system or whether it will be rather classified just as another...

Dopady společenských změn souvisejících s integrací imigrantů na mediální a politickou scénu Nizozemska / The impact of social changes caused by the integration of immigrants on the medial and political scenes of Belgium and the Netherlands

Koska, Adam January 2012 (has links)
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of immigration and integration, which started to play a crucial role in the sphere of Dutch politics and media in the mid-nineties of the twentieth century. The start of a public debate about this topic and the gradual withdrawal from the multicultural integration model have caused immigration, integration and - since 2001 - also Islam to become among the key topics that the Dutch media have refered about and that political parties have taken stances to. Political entities that could be described as "anti-immigrant" perceive the topic of immigration as the cornerstone of their political identity, but "mainstream" political parties have eventually also had to re-evaluate their stance to this topic. Regarding immigration and integration, the media are exposed to conflicting pressures of political correctness on the one side and the appeal to their audience on the other. One of the ways how to increase the appeal is through the allure of controversy, which is something that the can be achieved by stigmatisation of Islam, especially since 2001.

Česká imigrace do Chile v 1. polovině 20. století. / Czech immigration to Chile in the first half of the 20th century

Klímová, Jana January 2016 (has links)
Czech immigration to Latin America in the 20th century is relatively well-documented phenomena. Nevertheless it still opens up some areas that invites to detailed research. One of them is the Czech emigration to Chile in the first half of the 20th century. Due to the remoteness of the Chilean Republic immigration developed much later compared to the situation in traditional immigration countries that were mainly Argentina and Brazil. We can say it is the marginal area of the Czech migration although it is possible to find even in this small group of immigrants interesting life stories of Czechs that decided to try their luck in distant South America. This thesis aims to introduce main periods of the Czech immigration to Chile in the first half of the 20th century and to describe the life stories of Czechs who have left a significant legacy in Chilean society. Author also intends to focus on motives of choosing Chile as a final destination, Chilean migration policy in the particular periods and also to development of compatriots' activity in the areas of concentration of Czech citizens. Unfortunately there is not much literature related to this issue and that is why author will primarily derive from the archival sources of Chilean or Czechoslovak origin (Archive of the Czech Ministry of Foreign...

Azylová politika SRN od znovusjednocení / Asylum policy of Germany (FGR) since reunification

Rynešová, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
Germany was, is and will be an immigration country. We talk about an asylum policy since the reunification of Germany in 1990. Germany needed immigrants during the whole 21st century, on the other hand struggled with fear of their negative impacts on the economy and society. One hundred and thirty years since the recruitment of seasonal workers from abroad in the German Empire and 50 years from the recruitment of Turkish guest workers undoubtedly indicates a good (and necessary) time to create a more effective immigration and asylum policy. The integration of foreigners, especially Turks, is nowadays the main goal. As the social climate of German society has never been characterized by diversity, the main task of current German government is to create an opened German society towards foreigners and their integration.

Argentinská imigrační politika, 1852-1914 / Argentine Immigration Policy, 1852-1914

Švepeš, Václav January 2019 (has links)
The dissertation examines Argentine immigration policy in 1852- 1914. It focuses on the immigration process itself, the attitude of the Argentine political cliques and population, the minority groups, the influence of immigration on the development of Argentina in the mentioned period, the living conditions of immigrants and the process of their acclimatisation. For a better understanding of the chosen topic, the work was divided into two parts, followed by individual chapters. As a result of the research of published and unpublished sources, professional literature and articles, historical publications and other available sources, the importance of European immigration to the country's economic development, modernisation, demographic and culture was confirmed. Although the immigration process was also linked to negative aspects, such as the disappearance of the indigenous population, social inequality and the significant influence of European societies on the domestic economy, the population growth, the integration of immigrants into the primary and secondary economic sectors and political consolidation made Argentina one of the world's fastest-growing economies.
