Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka upplevelsen av en digital onboarding-process. Studien genomfördes genom en kvalitativ metod där åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med intervjupersoner som hade genomgått en digital onboarding-process under de senaste 24 månaderna. Materialet från datan som insamlades transkriberades och analyserades utifrån Braun & Clarkes (2013) sexstegsmodell för en induktiv tematisk analys. Utifrån analysen hittades tre huvudteman varav ett huvudtema hade två underteman. Första huvudtemat var Att lära sig nya arbetsuppgifter med underteman Tillgänglighet och Kommunikation, andra huvudtemat var Företagskulturen, sista huvudtemat var Sociala kontakter på arbetet. Resultatet i studien visade att det har varit svårt för intervjupersonerna att ta del av alla relevanta delar som ingår i en onboarding-process när de har genomgått den digitalt. Exempelvis har det varit problematiskt att skapa sig en uppfattning om företagskulturen, att lära sig nya arbetsuppgifter samt att lära känna sina nya arbetskollegor på djupet. / The purpose of this study was to investigate the experience of a digital onboarding-process. The study was conducted using a qualitative method where eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with interviewees who had undergone a digital onboarding-process in the last 24 months. The material from the data collected was transcribed and analysed based on Braun & Clarke's (2013) six-step model for an inductive thematic analysis. Based on the analysis, three main themes were found, of which one had two sub-themes. The first main theme was Learning new tasks with subthemes Accessibility and Communication, the second main theme was Business culture, the last main theme was Social contacts at work. The results of the study showed that it has been difficult for the interviewees to learn the relevant and important elements involved in an onboarding-process when they have undergone it digitally. For example, it has been problematic to get an idea of the company culture, to learn new tasks and to get to know their new colleagues in depth.

Educators’ experiences of the induction process by principalsMaake, Mmamodimo January 2013 (has links)
This research focused on how school principals in the Limpopo Province apply induction to the newly appointed teachers. The school principals, SMTs and senior teachers are responsible for inducting and mentoring newly appointed teachers with the purpose of developing them professionally and to help them adjust to the school environment. Principals play a major role in seeing to it that newly appointed educators do not feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the teaching profession and the practice of teaching learners.
The study aims at exploring the educator experiences of the induction process as well as to explore the process followed by principals in inducting educators. The research methodology used in this study is a qualitative case study which is explorative and descriptive by nature. Data was collected through one-on-one interviews, which involved principals and newly appointed teachers.
The collected data was analysed and categorised into specific themes. The findings from data revealed numerous challenges that principals and newly appointed teachers experience during the induction process. Findings revealed that the induction process was not adequate and that the time allocated for induction was very little. There were neither standardised and continuous induction programmes nor educational support mechanisms to support newly appointed educators. A phenomenological study: Professional profiles, induction processes, and reasons veteran teachers exit the professionWestmoreland, Margie Gonzales 01 May 2020 (has links)
Background: For decades, teacher shortages brought concern in educational systems throughout the United States. As more classrooms were left without teachers, prior researchers focused on strategies and policies to address the problem of teacher turnover and attrition. States such as Wisconsin had fewer qualified candidates to fill positions and saw a 35% decrease in teacher education programs in the past decade. Purpose: This study sought to examine how the induction process was related to teacher attrition for experienced or veteran teachers (five or more years of experience). In addition, the study sought to determine factors that contributed to professional satisfaction or dissatisfaction as related to teaching longevity. By examining these components collectively and including conversations with current teachers, the researcher presented a holistic view of why veteran teachers make the decision to leave the profession. Setting: Northeastern Wisconsin public school districts serving populations from kindergarten through 12th grades in urban, suburban and rural locations. Subjects: The participants were five veteran teachers with five or more years of experience who left the profession before retirement. Research Design: Qualitative phenomenological study Data Collection and Analysis: The participants were interviewed about their induction processes, professional satisfaction and professional dissatisfaction during their teaching careers. The data were analyzed for commonalities and emergent themes among the shared teaching experiences of the participants to determine the reasons they left the profession. Findings: Common themes were identified through the participants’ interviews. The findings showed the induction process for veteran teachers did not meet the needs of these participants. Further, professional satisfaction during their teaching careers were related to intrinsic motivating factors such as improving and aiding in student academic achievement, collegial support, and “making a difference.” The findings indicated the former teachers’ professional dissatisfaction stemmed from challenging behaviors, lack of support, overwhelming responsibilities, monetary deficiencies, and lack of respect for the profession. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that veteran teachers leave the profession as a result of a combination of challenges during their teaching assignments. The study also uncovered that the participants of this study contemplated their decisions to leave their positions years before actually departing the profession.
