Teckensnitt för antikens litteratur

Skotnicki, Rikard January 2011 (has links)
This work is about the difficulties in publishing ancient literature, which oftenrequires fonts that are missing in most computers. In worst case, this results in gettingunreadable text. The goal is to investigate how to find out which fonts are available on a user'scomputer, and how to solve the problems that arise when a font is missing. The purpose is to be able to adjust the possibilities to choose fonts to what fonts areinstalled on the computer. The result shows that the method used to find fonts in the user's computer is workingwell and the options can be adjusted accordingly.

Integrating Java with a Matlab environment at Studsvik Scandpower

Magnusson, Karl January 2012 (has links)
Matlab is a programming environment that provides a large and accessibletoolbox for programming applications with high level of mathematical content. However it is a programming environment that targets a specic type of applicationand currently does not provide wide usability for implementing graphicswith emphasis on user interfaces and interactive design. In the other hand, Javais a well established development environment suitable for any type of graphicalprogramming. Together Matlab and Java make it possible to create applicationswith advanced mathematical computations as well as a well designed graphicaluser interface. This thesis discusses ways to integrate Java with Matlab and howto adapt an existing Matlab program with a Java-based graphical user interface.

Constraint-Based Activity Recognition with Uncertainty

Mansouri, Masoumeh January 2011 (has links)
In the context of intelligent environments with the ability to provide support within our homes and in the workplace, the activity recognition process plays a critical role. Activity recognition can be applied to many real-life, humancentric problems such as elder care and health care. This thesis focuses on the recognizing high level human activity through a model driven approach to activity recognition, whereby a constraint-based domain description is used to correlate sensor readings to human activities. An important quality of sensor readings is that they are often uncertain or imprecise. Hence, in order to have a more realistic model, uncertainty in sensor data and flexibility and expressiveness should be considered in the model. These needs naturally arise in real world applications where considering uncertainty is crucial. In this thesis, a previously developed approach to activity recognition based on temporal constraint propagation is extended to accommodate uncertainty in the sensor readings and temporal relations between activities. The result of this extension is an activity recognition system in which each hypothesis deduced by the system is also weighted with a possibility degree. We validate our solutions to activity recognition with uncertainty both theoretically and experimentally, describing some explanatory examples.

Funktionell testning av webbplatser : En fallstudie

Erenger, David January 2012 (has links)
Websites are often developed by small businesses, organizations or individuals which may lead to that the testing gets left behind; the focus is on getting a finished product that can be deployed as quickly and as cheaply as possible. Functional testing is important also for websites and a variety of aids exist. With the right tools and methods the development work is facilitated, and it leads to products with fewer faults. This report shows in the form of a case study how an appropriate tool for functional testing can be selected and how it can be used within development of a website. An analysis of the tools available is reported and JSystem is selected as the most appropriate for this case. It turned out that JSystem could not be used fully as intended in terms of deployment, but a well-functioning alternative solution was developed. A number of test cases were created without any unsolvable problems and JSystem performed well. In JSystem test cases in Java are created in Java, which gives a high flexibility.

How to implement a local aware messaging service easily

De Maeyer, Matthias January 2011 (has links)
During the last years the use of SMS had a lot of competition because of the rise of the social networks like Twitter and Facebook. If somebody wants to share something with his friends or even the world he can just post it on these social networks instead of sending an SMS to his friends. On the other hand this provides a lot of information to everyone that makes it impossible to see what is interesting or what is not. Using these networks the information a person sees gets filtered on content for Twitter, friendship connection for Facebook or people who now your phone number for SMS. But what if you want to know something about the people around you or if you want to share something with the people in your location? This thesis will look into the three main problems this creates to make a local messaging service for a smartphone. 1) The connection problem, where different connectivity possibilities that can be used will be studied. 2) The social problem, where the problem of filtering out interesting information will be studied. 3) The programming problem where we will take a look on the possibilities different implementation approaches have to offer. Using this information we implemented a proof of concept as a web application and used a server to store all the information. Therefore we made use of the mobile internet and the GPS sensor in a smartphone. To filter out interesting content we placed messages in categories. The biggest benefit using these technologies is the fact that there is no limit on the size and location of the area in which someone wants to send a message. Another benefit is the fact that receivers won’t poll for updates on the server because we made use of a Comet server that is able to push updates to the clients.

Use of Wikis for Learning in a Call Center: A Case Study

Martínez Vega, Carlos Omar, Ordoñez Flores, Adriana January 2011 (has links)
Problem Area / Purpose The purpose of this research is to study how agents learn and share knowledge in a callcenter after the implementation of a wiki. How they create new knowledge, and theirperception of the knowledge conversion process. In call centers sharing knowledge is acommon practice, changes are constant and agents need to have information available inorder to learn. Research Methodology A qualitative case study was performed in a call center in a company named Telvista. Wefocused our case study in a project that Telvista has for technical support calls. Interviewswere conducted with fifteen agents who were part of a pilot program that used a wiki forthe first time. The questions were asked according to the knowledge conversion model ofNonaka and Takeuchi (1995) and the answers helped us to interpret the agents’ impressionsabout the wiki. Findings / Conclusion The findings from this study showed us that a wiki helped the agents in their learningprocess while they were performing their job. The way tacit and explicit knowledge wasutilized and transformed during the four modes of knowledge conversion was useful for theagents to learn from others. A drawback of using the wiki was the impression that some ofthe agents had about the accuracy of the information it contained. Research Limitation & Implications The findings in this study were based in the pilot program of the wiki implementation.Fifteen agents were part of it, selected by their tenure and overall metrics. Agents with lessthan sixty days on the operation were not eligible for this pilot. The information presentedin the interviews with the agents is merely their opinion and perception of the use of thewiki. Outcomes Our research showed how agents in a call center shared knowledge and learned in differentways through the socialization, externalization, combination and internalization modes ofknowledge conversion model. This study can give acquaintance to organizations that areseeking to implement a knowledge management tool as a wiki is, in a changing anddemanding industry.
