Analýza závad zjištěných při požárních kontrolách prováděných v rámci výkonu státního požárního dozoru Hasičským záchranným sborem Jihočeského kraje za léta 2003 - 2012 / Analysis of the defects identified in the fire inspections performed within the State Fire Inspection of the Fire Rescue Department of South Bohemia for the years 2003 - 2012

KOŠŤÁL, Filip January 2014 (has links)
The thesis on the topic Analysis of Faults Found in Fire Inspections Performed within Execution of State Fire Inspection by the Fire Brigade Rescue Corps of Southern Bohemia in 2003 2012 focuses on comparison of faults selected by gradual elimination from all the 700 fire inspections to final 150 complex fire inspections and classified per years in a ten-year comparison period. Follow-up inspections and thematic fire inspection were not used for the complex evaluation as they did not contain the necessary information. Six parameters were chosen from all the performed complex inspections containing 30 monitored facts of correctness and existence of documents of the inspected object and seven monitored facts from physical examination of the objects. These six parameters were subsequently compared. The aim of my thesis was to find out whether the numbers of the faults detected within execution of the state fire inspection were increasing in the individual categories. The theoretical part summarizes the basic legal norms applicable to the Fire Brigade Rescue Corps of the CR and to execution of the state fire inspection and some extensive legal norms related to the inspection activities or inspected subjects. Elaboration of the thesis topic required explanation of some terms like legal entity, private entrepreneur, fire inspection, state fire inspection and its integration in the Fire Brigade Rescue Corps of the CR. The chapter contains description of activities including graphs illustrating procedures related to execution of state fire inspection. A separate part is dedicated to fire protection history, formation of awareness of the history and to chronological arrangement of some key legal norms binding for the Fire Brigade Rescue Corps of the CR and execution of state fire inspection. It was for example necessary to present the rules governing execution of state fire inspection like professional competence of Fire Brigade Rescue Corps members and their identification at the place of inspection, to clarify the terms fire inspection plan and fire inspection programme. The final part of the theoretical base of the thesis contains the rules of behaviour of Fire Brigade Rescue Corps members performing state fire inspection at the inspected site and principles of interaction with people representing the inspected subject. The research methodology was chosen adequately to the topic dealt with. First archive materials from complex fire inspection records were studied and then the individual faults were qualitatively processed and categorized to faults in documentary part and physical defects. After that a selection of closer spectre of examined faults was performed and preparation of data for comparison. The faults of the individual years were compared in the monitored data and the danger index of the individual years was calculated. The concluding part of the thesis focused on presentation of the dependences of the detected faults of the individual years by means of tables and graphs. The results were mutually compared, classified, commented in detail in the discussion and elaborated into the overall image of the society. Dependence of the number of performed complex fire inspections on the number of detected faults was proven from the danger index and from graphic representation of its values.

The objective of this work was to develop an image quality control program to be applied to B-mode ultrasound scanners, which included the development and application of protocols which describe physical and mechanical inspection and performance tests. For the accomplishment of the performance tests, we have used a multipurpose phantom that allowed the evaluation of the following scanners characteristics: uniformity of image, sensibility (depth of the ultrasonic field penetration), precision of the system measurements, detection of spherical voids, axial and lateral resolutions and dead zone. The procedures adopted for the evaluation of these characteristics have been established through the examination of international standards and specialized publications. These bibliographic materials specify that the controls of the equipment must be adjusted in the same way at each test realization; therefore, this work also have carried through a study that evaluated the influence of varying the general gain and dynamic range controls and the magnification (zoom) of the image field view in the performance tests results. The quality control tests results showed that 60% of the evaluated equipments presented some kind of problem in the physical and mechanical inspections, and that 95.83% of the evaluated transducers presented some of the quality pointers values beyond the limit of tolerance / Mestrado / Engenharia Biomedica / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

Software product line specifications need to be evaluated for improving software. In this context, software inspections aims do guarantee complete, consistent and correct artifacts finding defects in early stages in software lifecycle. In this work, we propose SPLIT (Software Product Line Inspection Technique), which is a set of modelbased inspection techniques for evaluating software product line specifications. A feasibility study was conducted for comparing SPLIT against a defect type-based inspection approach. The object of the feasibility study was a Twitter client software product line specification created for the experiment. The results indicated that the set of techniques found a greater number of defects than a defect type-based inspection approach. A second empirical study was conducted for comparing SPLIT against a defect type-based inspection approach using a real software product line for mobile robot vehicles. This study aimed to verify whether the set of techniques fits real world life-cycle development. The second empirical results supported the feasibility study in which SPLIT found a greater number of defects than a defect type-based inspection approach. Thus, software product line quality assurance can be improved using SPLIT for detecting defects in early stage of development.

Development of an Index for Concrete Bridge Deck Management in Utah

White, Ellen T. 14 July 2006 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this research was to develop a new index for concrete bridge deck management in Utah. Data were collected in the summer of 2005 from 15 concrete bridge decks in the vicinity of Salt Lake City. The decks ranged from 2 to 21 years in age and were all constructed using epoxy-coated rebar. Visual inspection, sounding, Schmidt hammer testing, half-cell potential testing, and chloride concentration testing were performed on six 6-ft by 6-ft test areas randomly distributed within the single lane closed to traffic on each deck, and testing protocols followed American Society for Testing and Materials standards to the extent possible. Collected data were analyzed using statistics, and age, cover, and half-cell potential were ultimately selected for inclusion in a new Utah Bridge Deck Index (UBDI); these variables effectively reflect chloride-induced corrosion mechanisms active on Utah bridge decks, are highly correlated to delamination distresses, and are relatively easy to measure compared to chloride concentration. At the request of Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) personnel, the UBDI equation was structured around a deduct system using a 100-point scale similar to the sufficiency rating system, in which a perfect bridge deck receives a score of 100. Coefficients were selected based largely on the judgment of the researchers and the UDOT personnel involved in the research, and threshold values for maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement (MR&R) options were specified to be the same as those associated with the standard sufficiency ratings. The UBDI and corresponding MR&R recommendation were then provided for each of the bridge decks tested in this research; nine of the decks are recommended for preventive treatment, and six are recommended for rehabilitation. In addition, the possibility of treatment applications was considered, leading to required adjustments in the UBDI calculation; the treatment options that were considered include an epoxy seal, an HPC overlay, and an asphalt membrane overlay. Four case scenarios were developed to demonstrate the response of the revised UBDI equation to these treatments. Finally, as aids for UDOT personnel implementing this research, charts were created to facilitate rapid determination of the required number of half-cell potential and concrete cover measurements for different levels of reliability and tolerance. The UBDI developed in this research is recommended for implementation by UDOT personnel as a tool for optimizing the timing of MR&R treatments on concrete bridge decks similar to those evaluated in this project. In measuring cover and half-cell potential values, UDOT personnel should utilize the sampling guidelines presented in this report to ensure adequate characterization of each deck. Furthermore, to facilitate the inclusion of treatment effects in the UBDI, UDOT personnel should establish a policy of recording the types and dates of all MR&R treatments applied to bridge decks. As performance data are collected for specific treatments over time, the treatment lives proposed in this research for epoxy seals, HPC overlays, and asphalt membrane overlays should be revised as needed, and information for other treatments may be added. In addition, to maximize the predictive capabilities of the UBDI, more accurate relationships between half-cell potential values and deck age should be developed for estimating future deck condition.

AUTOMATED BRIDGE INSPECTION IMAGE LOCALIZATION AND RETRIEVAL BASED ON GPS-REFINED SIMILARITY LEARNING

Benjamin Eric Wogen (15315859) 24 April 2023 (has links)

The inspection of highway bridge structures in the United States is a task critical to the national transportation system. Inspection images contain abundant visual information that can be exploited to streamline bridge assessment and management tasks. However, historical inspection images often go unused in subsequent assessments as they are disorganized and unlabeled. Further, due to the lack of GPS metadata and visual ambiguity, it is often difficult for other inspectors to identify the location on the bridge where past images were taken. While many approaches are being considered toward fully- or semi-automated methods for bridge inspection, there are research opportunities to develop practical tools for inspectors to make use of those images already in a database. In this study, a deep learning-based image similarity technique is combined with image geolocation data to localize and retrieve historical inspection images based on a current query image. A Siamese convolutional neural network (SCNN) is trained and validated on a gathered dataset of over 1,000 real world bridge deck images collected by the Indiana Department of Transportation. A composite similarity (CS) metric is created for effective image ranking and the overall method is validated on a subset of eight bridge’s images. The results show promise for implementation into existing databases and for other similar structural inspections, showing up to an 11-fold improvement in successful image retrieval when compared to random image selection.

Brahim, Naouraz 13 April 2018 (has links)

Einarsson, Andreas, Daniel, Robertsson January 2020 (has links)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate an inspection model that will facilitate the work for Strängnäs Fastighets AB inspectors. Method: The method of this study consists of a case study in which the company´s routines was analyzed through site visits, interviews, review of the work routines and documents. The case study is supplemented by a literature study where, above all, legal requirements and to a certain extent research in the area. Results: The Analyzing of the routines resulted in the company having limited or no routines at all for inspection of the buildings. This meant that the work was based on response to complaints rather than proactive work. According to that background, a model was established based on other organization's inspection models as well as suggestions and ideas from the company itself. The model was then further adapted through tests and feedback from the company to be able to apply to as many types of buildings as possible. Conclusions: This study concludes that it is possible to customize an inspection model to some extent by the use of other organizations methods.
