”Jag vill ju känna att jag är delaktig” : Medarbetarnas engagemang i organisationen i relation till organisationens interna informationskanaler / ”I would like to feel like I’m a part of the organisation” : Organizational commitment in relation to internal communication channels

Norrgård, Daniella January 2016 (has links)
Purpose – This study seeks to understand the viewpoint, held by employees, concerning their percieved organizational commitment in relation to their and the organizations use of internal information channels, with emphasis on the limited access to the corporate intranet. The research questions are: How do the employees use the corporate intranet? What other internal information channels do the employees and the organization use? How satisfied are the employees with the organizations use of the informations channels? How do the employees percieve their organizational commitment? Design/methodology – The research was designed as a case study using a qualitative data gathering method. Six semi structured interviews were conducted with blue collar workers that had been working within the organization between 4 to 31 years. Findings – Many of the blue collar workers have limited access to the corporate intranet and still percieve their organizational commitment as high. They believe that their high commitment is related to the gaining of information. Their high commitment might be understood via the use of high amount of other informational channels, especially verbal ones. In spite of the limited access, many of the workers visit the intranet almost on a daily basis. Many of the respondents believe that the information communicated via the intranet is not directed towards the blue collar workers but they still want the information. Orginality/value – Few research studies has focused on finding out what blue collar workers consider important in the internal communication process. This study contributes to the understanding of the blue collar workers viewpoint.

Svensson, Sanna January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to examine how users at a retail company perceive intranet as an information and communication tool and if and how methods and theories from information architecture (IA) could be used to improve both the usability and the user experience. Using two complementary qualitative methods the study investigates how the users are experiencing the intranet as an information- and communication tool. Methods used were semi structured interviews and an inquiry. The results of the study show that the intranet supports mainly the store employees and not the whole company, which leads it to overweigh as an information rather than a communication tool. Findings within the area of IA concerning usability and user experience was, that even with a centralized organization working towards usability goals, there were still improvement areas, mainly within findability. Improved descriptions of the intranet content could be reached through a labelling policy. Some issues were also noted within outdated content. Conclusion reached in this thesis supports previous peer reviewed studies, showing that intranet engagement would improve for the entire company if an intranet strategy ow
