I en tid av prövningar och motgångar för världens folk på grund av coronapandemin har ensamhet och isolering både upplevts och diskuterats. Dessa sociala problem kan påverka vem som helst, men, som coronaviruset, slår det extra hårt mot de redan utsatta - de äldre. Med hjälp av ett nätverksteoretiskt perspektiv undersöker författarna hur mycket, om överhuvudtaget, kvalitén på äldres relationer påverkar känslor av ensamhet och isolering. Med hjälp av kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer intervjuades fem äldre personer mellan åldrarna 70 och 89. Sedan på ett tematiskt sätt har studieförfattarna delat upp och analyserat med hjälp av nätverksteortiska begrepp. Resultatet visade att kvalitén på den äldres relationer korrelerade med deras känslor av ensamhet och social isolering. Författarna fortsätter med att diskutera vikten av det sociala nätverket, vilka känslor de äldre delar och vilka de inte delar med varandra. Slutligen avslutas studien med en allmän diskussion om vilka implikationer studieresultaten kan ha för det framtida sociala arbetet och den sociala omsorgen. / In a time of great trial and hardship for the people of the world due to the covid-19 virus, loneliness and isolation have been keenly felt and talked about. These social problems can affect anyone, but, like the virus, it particularly strikes hard on the already fragile - the elderly. From a network theory perspective, the authors investigate how much, or if at all, the quality of the relationships of the elderly affect feelings of loneliness and isolation in said group. Using qualitative measures, we interviewed five elderly people between the ages of 70 and 89 using a semi-structured interview method. Furthermore, the authors of this study have thematically divided and analyzed using the social network theory as a tool. The results showed that the quality of the elderly persons relationships correlated with their feelings of loneliness and social isolation. The authors continue by discussing the importance of the social network, what feelings are shared among the elderly, what feelings differ and finally a conclusion in a general discussion on the implications of our findings and what this means regarding future social work and care.
