Den här studien har sin utgångspunkt i en debatt om fosterdiagnostik och abort som fördes i Läkartidningen under slutet av 1970-talet. Likväl handlar den om en tid av historiska förändringar, om abort- och steriliseringspolitik i 1900-talets Sverige, och om en argumentation som aldrig förändras. I form av en diskursanalys har jag, utifrån maktteoretiska begrepp undersökt hur man genom skriftlig formulering och argumentation i Läkartidningen strävat efter att upprätthålla maktrelationer och könsmaktsordning i samhället. / This study concentrates on a debate about prenatal diagnosis and abortion that was discussed in the Swedish medical journal Läkartidningen during the late 1970s. But it’s also a study about a time of historical transformation, about abortion and sterilization policy in 1900s Sweden, and about a line of arguments that never seem to change. It’s a discourse analysis, based on theoretical concepts about authority and it examines how writers of medical science through written formulation and argumentation in Läkartidningen have strived to maintain power relations and gender power structure in society.
