Židovská figurální ikonografie v českých zemích / The Jewish Figural Iconography in the Czech Lands

Janáčová, Eva January 2015 (has links)
The primary aim of this dissertation is the mapping of Jewish figural iconography in the Czech lands, primarily of the Post-Emancipation - end of 18th to 20th century - period. The research focuses mainly on the protrayal of contemporary Jewish figures found in Czech visual culture, following religious as well as gradually secularized Jews through iconopgraphic themes. In dealing with the less observant or even wholly secularized Jewish figures, the aim is to show the iconographic elements by which these differ from the majority of society. In the first part the most important aspects of the evolution of Jewish iconography are analyzed. Among these the most important ones are a liberal interpretation of the Old Testament prohibition of figural representation, Jewish emancipation involving gradual assimilation as well as the Jewish yearning for an authentic visual representation, which most likely was the main factor behind the evolution of Jewish iconography. In addition to medieval and modern Jewish figural representations special attention is given to portrayal of Prague Jews and themes found in Hebrew manuscripts as well as printed materials, where surprisingly enough a much lower number of demeaning signs are found. Furthermore a gallery of portraits showing Czech Jews is shown, including...

APROPRIAÇÕES E COMÉRCIO DE TERRAS NA CIDADE DE CACHOEIRA NO CONTEXTO DA IMIGRAÇÃO EUROPEIA (1850-1889)

Gimeno, Alejandro Jesus Fenker 18 July 2014 (has links)
This work, which is linked to the Research Line Integration, Politic and Frontier from the Graduate Program in History of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), searches to understand how the appropriation of lands in Cachoeira do Sul took place in the nineteenth century. Then, it aims to answer questions related to the Land Act law of 1850, and the legitimation of arising possessions. To accomplish this work, we used as source the Parochial Land Registers, the processes of legitimation from possessions and books of Transmissions and Notes regarding to Cachoeira do Sul in the second half of the XIX century. The analysis showed that the legitimation was part of the privatization process of forest lands. Besides, they were subject of buying and selling that constitute an active trade of lands on the surroundings of the Colônia de Santo Ângelo. This process of commercialization involved a group of merchants, which were associated with each other and converged to the figure of the Notary from the city of Cachoeira.

The survey was conducted through visits and dialogue with the Indians, using qualitative methodology through semi-structured interviews and observation in the field, and consultation the official government agencies and research papers on the subject. The results showed that the access of the indigenous to the PAA was possible thanks to the participation of external actors that promoted the organization and preparation of projects. Without these initiatives, the Indigenous people would not have the opportunity to access the program. The research enabled us to identify the access of indigenous people to other public policies such as PNGATI, Bolsa Família and Pronaf, in the case of Pronaf the results pointed to negative environmental and social impacts. Regarding the socio-economic question, the program contributes to improving the living conditions, giving new opportunity for the flow of production, revealing a role of indigenous women within the program. However, despite the progress achieved, the changes were not enough to bring about a significant improvement in quality of life, because the difficulties encountered become impossible the Indigenous reach the maximum quota available.
