Pongutá, Éber Camilo Fonseca January 2014 (has links)
In the present work we study the beam-plasma interaction using the weak turbulence theory. We start with an introduction to the kinetic theory of plasmas, studying fundamental features, like the statistical approach to the plasma equations, the procedures to be employed to deal with the correlation functions appearing in the statistical approach, and the system of Vlasov-Maxwell equations. In the sequence we discuss the Vlasov approximation and the solution of the Vlasov- Maxwell system in the linear approximation, emphasizing the description of waves in the plasma and the Landau damping. Along the development we present a relatively detailed description of the procedures introduced by Landau to treat the Vlasov-Maxwell system as an initial value problem, including a discussion about the resolution of integrals in the complex plane, with poles in the denominator, and the solution of the dispersion relation to find the normal mode of oscillations in the plasma. We also present a short review about the quasilinear approximation of the Vlasov-Maxwell system, in which we discuss the derivation of the quasilinear diffusion equation in the space of particle velocities, and study its properties of conservation. In the context of the quasilinear theory, we present a short review about the time evolution of the Landau damping in the case of Maxwellian velocity distribution, and about the instability which can occur in the case of a distribution function with a beam of particles. After the introduction to the linear approximation and to the quasilinear theory, we present the equations of weak turbulence theory for a unmagnetized plasma, including non-linear interactions between waves and particles. The formalism which is presented includes effects and spontaneous and induced emission, decay and scattering of waves. The system of coupled equations of the weak turbulence theory is then reduced to application to a bi-dimensional case, and then re-written in terms of polar coordinates and adapted to numerical solution. We then present a description of the numerical code developed using Fortran language, suitable to describe a plasma with electrons described by a Maxwellian distribution function with a tenuous beam, and ions described by a Maxwellian distribution. Finally, we compare our results with results obtained by other authors in previous works, developed using cartesian coordinates, as a validation of our work. Lastly we discuss some perspectives for future developments.

Abstract: This dissertation shows the steps to building an ICP Reactor dedicated to micro fabrication process, further to deep etching of Silicon on high rates. Studium interakce plazmatu s pevnými látkami postupy počítačové fyziky / Study of plasma-solid interaction by methods of computational physics

Palacký, Jakub January 2017 (has links)
The diploma thesis is focused on the study of low-temperature plasma by methods of computational physics, namely particle modelling. The solution focuses on the time- effective execution of simulations, which is concerned, among the other things, with the use of parallelization techniques aimed at maximize shortening of the calculation time. The Langmuir probe was chosen as the most common representative of the probe diagnostics. The main goal of this work was to observe plasma interaction with the embedded solid. Current research on plasma modelling intensively explores dynamic phenomena such as wave propagation or turbulence and instability. For this reason, much of the work is devoted to the dynamics in electropositive and electronegative plasma.

Etude des interactions molécules d'intérêt pharmacologique/modèles membranaires : cas des polyènes et de nouvelles molécules antipaludiques / Study of the interactions between pharmaceutical relevant molecules and model membranes : focus on antifungal polyenes and new antimalarial molecules

Robin, Thierry-Johann 17 December 2014 (has links)
The main purpose of this work is to better understand the mechanisms of interaction between pharmaceutical relevant molecules and model membranes in order to facilitate the synthesis of new molecules, more efficient against their molecular target and less toxic for Humans. In the first part, we studied the interactions occuring between these models and antifungal polyene molecules. It has been reported that these molecules interacted preferentially with sterols. We specifically focused on Nystatin and Amphotericin B, two polyenes with a very similar chemical structure and presently used as a treatment against fungi and molds. Using different kind of model membranes, we showed PhosphatidylEthanolamine could have a very important role in the mechanism of action of these molecules. In the second part of this work, we studied the inhibition of the formation of a cristal called « hemozoïn », which is growing during the life cycle of the parasite responsible of malaria. This cristal is made of hematin, a toxic by-product of the degradation of hemoglobin, the main source of amino-acids for the parasite. Hematin and the inhibition of the growth of this cristal is a ideal molecular target to combat malaria. Chloroquine, mefloquine and new mefloquine-derivatives were studied. The study of the inhibition of the formation of the cristal was done using Langmuir monolayers as a biosensor. We showed that stereochemistry, but also lipophilicity of these compounds, are important parameters for the synthesis of more efficient antimalarial molecules.

Dechezelles, Jean-François 14 December 2009 (has links)
During this work, we were interested in the elaboration of colloidal photonic crystals with a controlled architecture to study their effect on the photoluminescence spectra of emitters. Our strategy was to incorporate the emitters within the silica particles composing the colloidal crystals in order to distribute them homogeneously in the samples. We present the synthesis of the mineral precursors and the elaboration of colloidal crystals whose thickness is controlled at the layer level thanks to the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. These structures are characterized by a band gap which affects the light propagation. Insertion of a monolayer of particles with a different size as a planar defect within a colloidal crystal leads to the formation of a pass band in the band gap. We thus studied the effect of the structure of crystals with or without planar defect(s) on the emission spectra of different emitters. We observed local inhibition and exaltation of the emission in the spectral region corresponding to the stop band and the pass band, respectively. We have also observed reversible modulations of the photoluminescence spectra of the emitters when these ones were incorporated in colloidal crystals whose optical properties can be tuned by an external stimulus.

Etude par microscopie à force atomique et par microscopie de fluorescence de l’interaction de nanoparticules de silice avec des films lipidiques plans / Study by atomic force microscopy and fluorescence microscopy of the interaction of silica nanoparticles with supported lipid films

Faye, Ndeye rokhaya 10 December 2014 (has links)
The subject of this thesis fits into the large field of the toxicity of nanoparticles (NPs). Thanks to their physico-chemical properties, NPs are able to enter cells through the plasma membrane. Understanding the NPs-membrane interaction is thus very important. Membranes being complex structures, we chose to study this interaction using planar lipid films (monolayers and bilayers) as simplified membrane models, either deposited on nanostructured surfaces prepared by the prior deposition of silica NPs or transferred from monolayers spread on a subphase containing NPs (4-100 nm in diameter). Two complementary methods were used, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and fluorescence microscopy. After a first part devoted to the optimization of the experimental procedure (choice of lipids, design of nanostructured surfaces and films), AFM first revealed the oxidation of transferred monolayers made of unsaturated lipids, leading to the formation of domains raised above the intact lipid phase. In the case of films made of lipids characterized by a liquid expanded/liquid condensed phase transition, the presence of NPs (usually organized in aggregates) seems to favor the transition to the condensed phase, NPs being either embedded in condensed domains or at their edges. The final phase of this work was devoted to the study of NPs / bilayer interaction by AFM in liquid medium. The study shows different tribological behavior of NPs aggregates, suggesting two possible organizations of the lipid bilayer, covering the NPs or forming holes around them.

Experimentální studium využití sondových metod pro diagnostiku nízkoteplotního zamagnetovaného plazmatu / Experimental study of the use of probe methods for diagnostic of low-temperature magnetized plasma

Zanáška, Michal January 2015 (has links)
The ball-pen probe is a relatively new diagnostic method, that has been designed for direct measurement of plasma potential in magnetized plasmas. Nowadays, it is routinely used at several high-temperature plasma devices in Europe and it has been tested also in conditions of low-temperature plasma, which are substantially different from that of high-temperature plasma. The measurements performed so far showed, that ball-pen probe could be used also in low-temperature plasma. However, more measurements were needed to prove the applicability of ball-pen probe. Therefore, the main aim of this work is to compare the method of ball-pen probe with simultaneous measurements using Langmuir and emissive probe. Measurements were performed in DC discharge of cylindrical magnetron at various discharge conditions and radial positions of probes. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Agregace aminokyselin a podobných molekul v přítomnosti fosfolipidové monovrstvy / Clustering of aqueous aminoacids and similar molecules in the presence of phospholipid monolayers

Kukharchuk, Alexandra January 2016 (has links)
Amino acid phenylalanine plays a key role in numerous biological processes and is also involved in amyloid fibril diseases. The aim of the thesis is to deepen our understanding of its behavior and partitioning at interfaces, and to investigate its clustering. Classical atomistic molecular dynamics simulations were performed for phenylalanine and three other aromatic molecules which chemical structure is derived from it - phenylglycine, phenylacetic acid and tyrosine. Molecules are simulated at both water-air and at water-DPPC-air interfaces. Phenylalanine, phenylglycine and phenylacetic acid demonstrate surface activity at the water-air interface, whereas tyrosine is not surface active. All molecules interact with the lipid monolayer at the water-DPPC-air interface but only phenylalanine penetrates deep into the monolayer. Formation of transient clusters is observed in the interfacial regions, mostly for phenylalanine. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Studium sondových diagnostik okrajového plazmatu v tokamaku pomocí počítačových simulací / Study of probe diagnostics of tokamak edge plasma via computer simulation

Podolník, Aleš January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to examine plasma-wall interaction using computer modeling. Tokamak- relevant plasma conditions are simulated using the particle-in-cell model family SPICE working in three or two dimensions. SPICE model was upgraded with a parallel Poisson equation solver and a heat equation solver module. Plasma simulation aimed at synthetic Langmuir probe measurements were performed. First set considered a flush-mounted probe and the effect of variable magnetic field angle was studied with aim to compare existing probe data evaluation techniques and assess their operational space, in which the plasma parameters estimation via fit to the current-voltage characteristic is accurate. Second simulation set studied a protruding probe pin. Effective collecting area of such probe was investigated with intentions of density measurement collection. This area was found to be influenced by a combination of two factors. First, the density dampening inside the magnetic pre-sheath of the probe head, and the second, the extension of the area caused by Larmor rotation. A comparison with experimental results obtained at COMPASS tokamak was was performed, confirming these results. Diagnostika technologického plazmatu / Diagnostics of plasmas for technological applications

Turek, Zdeněk January 2020 (has links)
The subject of the master thesis is the extension of the measurement of plasma para- meters by the Langmuir probe in a system with a planar magnetron and a hollow cathode operating in pulse mode. The main tasks are to modify the measuring circuit to increase the maximum probe current and to put the USB oscilloscope into operation for data collection with higher resolution and higher sampling rate. Furthermore, the function of the entire device will be verified using test circuits and also by measuring the probe characteristics in discharges in a system with a magnetron and a hollow cathode in both continuous and pulse mode. 1
