A Teacher Retrospective of a Decade of One-to-One Devices

Irish, Sarah J. 01 January 2017 (has links)
One-to-one electronic devices have become commonplace in many educational settings across the globe, but it has been unclear how long-term teaching practices using such devices have evolved and how they relate to recognized best practices for using technology in the classroom. This study examined what a generation of teachers has over time identified as best applications of using these devices; their benefits, drawbacks, and challenges; and whether their use reflected previously identified best application of technologies in the classroom. This case study, conducted in one school system in New England, used the theories of Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition (SAMR) and Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Analysis (TPACK) as a conceptual framework. Participants included two groups, one composed of four teachers who have taught only after implementation of one-on-one laptop use and one composed of four teachers who taught both before and after device implementation, selected to determine whether differences existed in attitudes and practices based on types of teaching experience. Data sources included interviews and observations. Results of inductive analyses indicated both veteran and established teachers embraced the use of one-to-one devices in their teaching, but both groups lacked the knowledge of SAMR and TPACK theories to best apply them in the classroom. This study contributes to the field by including recommendations for stronger teacher technology implementation, including more in-depth training and support with application of TPACK and SAMR theories in classroom pedagogy.

Tan, Winarto 21 October 2010 (has links)
From 2009¡AIndonesia has been Striving to Expand BRIC to BRIIC¡AFrom the growth of Indonesia these days, we can see that the demand of 3C product including Computer, Communications and Consumer-Electronics have been growing rapidly. According to Apkomindo in 21st of July 2010 stated that there has been a 167% of growth from past year of laptop demand in Indonesia, it because of the Indonesia¡¦s economy has been performing well in the many year. From the fascinating of Laptop demand growth, it has attracted many laptop companies to enter the Indonesia market. Asus, as the new entrant of Taiwanese Laptop company in Indonesia has to deal with the fierce competition among laptop companies, one of the tough competitor is Taiwanese laptop Company, Acer. If Asus wants to successfully expand into Indonesia Laptop market, Asus has to understand well on Indonesian Consumer behaviors, if Asus manage to understand well about what consumer need while consuming laptop, the Asus will manage to expand its market in Indonesia. Due to the situation above, The study research is about to understand the buying Intention of Indonesian people while purchasing Laptop. The Study research used the TPB(Theory of Planned Behavior) model of Ajzen as the research fundamental for studying the laptop buying intention of Indonesian people. The target of our study is the Indonesian consumer whether they currently in the region of Indonesia or in the foreign country. We manage to collect the effective- questionnaires of 126. In-order to test the adaptability of the construct models, we use regression analysis to analysis the collecting data and using Focus Group discussion both method as the study research analysis. The focus group discussion has involved six Indonesian students that currently studied in National of Sun-Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. According the result of this study, Consumer¡¦s Attitude, Social norm and Perceived behavior control, product characteristic and company marketing has a significant influence to Indonesian people on buying laptop. The effect of instant messaging on lecture retention

McVaugh, Nathan Kant 10 July 2012 (has links)
The impact of instant message interruptions via computer on immediate lecture retention for college students was examined. While watching a 24–minute video of a classroom lecture, students received various numbers of related–to–lecture (“Is consistent use of the eye contact method necessary for success?”) versus not–related–to lecture (“Have you ever missed class because you couldn't find parking?”) instant messages in addition to note taking vs. no note taking. Student self–rating for multitasking ability, typical and maximum instant messaging activity, and classroom computer use were also measured. Contrary to cognitive models of information processing that suggest instant messages will disrupt student retention of lecture information, no effects were found for number of interruptions, presence or absence of notes, or relatedness of interruption on lecture retention. Students’ multitasking self–rating was negatively related to lecture retention. The implications of these results for classroom practice and future research are explored. / text

An evaluation of the effectiveness of laptop computers in science classrooms.

Stolarchuk, Eddie O. January 1997 (has links)
Numerous educational research studies have shown that students perceptions of teacher-interpersonal behaviour and classroom environment are positively associated with students attitude to science and students cognitive achievement in science. Laptop computers have become increasing popular in science classrooms since the late 1980s; however, their effects on students perceptions of teacher interpersonal relationships or classroom environment have not been studied. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of laptop computers in science classrooms, in terms of the effects laptops had on students perceptions of teacher-student interpersonal behaviour and classroom environment. Students attitude to science and their cognitive achievement in science were also assessed.Student data were collected from 433 grades 8 and 9 science laptop students in 23 classrooms, in 14 Independent schools, in four Australian states. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. The study confirmed the reliability and validity of the QTI and ICEQ for use in science laptop classrooms, described students perceptions of teacher-student interpersonal behaviour and classroom environment in science laptop classrooms and identified associations between students perceptions of teacher-student interpersonal behaviour and classroom environment with each of the student outcomes. The attitudinal outcomes were found to be more strongly associated with both perceptual areas, than were the cognitive achievement outcomes. The study also found that there was a difference in the way science laptop and non-laptop students perceived teacher-student interpersonal behaviour and classroom environment, but that there was no significant difference I the attitudinal and cognitive achievement outcomes between science laptop and non-laptop students.

Hantering av litiumjonbatterier inom olika verksamheter

Nilsson, Susanne January 2022 (has links)

Design, Analysis and Implementation of Multiphase Synchronous Buck DC-DC Converter for Transportable Processor

Nguyen, Huy 13 May 2004 (has links)
As laptop mobile users expect more application features and long battery life, the processor current has to increase to response the demanding while the voltage has to decease to save the power loss. Therefore, it is necessary for a system designer to improve the efficiency of the voltage regulator converter (VRC) for the processor. Laptop processor architecture is more complicated than desktop because of different mode operations and their transitions. The laptop processor runs at different voltage levels for each operation mode to save the battery life. Therefore, the VRC needs to supply the correct and stable voltage to the processor. In this thesis, an analysis of power loss is derived to estimate the efficiency and switching frequency, three widely current sensing methods are discussed, two methods to compensate for the thermal resistance in loss less current sense methods are proposed, the tolerance of load line base on the component's tolerance in the converter is analyzed, the equation to estimate the output capacitance is derived, and the small signal analysis of multiphase synchronous buck converter with the droop current loop is derived. A hardware prototype was implemented base on 4-phase synchronous buck topology to provide high efficiency and lower cost solution. The results of load line meets the Intel specification in different modes of operation, provides the best transient responses, and meets the specification during the load transient. The control loop lab measurement is also matched with the analysis and simulation. / Master of Science
