The project was commissioned by Komatsu Forest, which is one of the world's largest manufacturers of forest machines. At present, Komatsu Forest offers several different types of banks and supports when buying a forwarder. In this way, the customer can adapt the cargo space for the purpose for which the machine is to be used. This project included the LoadFlex bank, which features and adjustable width and height. The overall aim of the project was to develop proposals for an improved existing LoadFlex bank or a new solution for forwarder 875 and 895. The improvements should enable a less complex manufacturing process, simpler maintenance and lower costs at retained functionality. The functions and design of the current LoadFlex concept were first examined. Then the work of coming up with new design solutions began. Two proposals, consisting of a new design and an improved version of the current design, were made. Only the proposal with the new design was completed. The project resulted in a concept proposal of a new expandable bank. This concept employs a telescopic design, which allows to adjust the width of the bank in several steps. The result shows potential in saving both weight and costs, as long as reinforcements will not be needed. No strength calculations have been made, but the strength should only be a matter of dimensioning the various components. Despite the lower loading capacity, the new concept has the potential to decrease the overall costs compared to the existing bank system. / Projektet har utförts på uppdrag av Komatsu Forest, som är en av världens största tillverkare av skogsmaskiner. I dagsläget erbjuder Komatsu Forest olika sorters bankar och stöttor vid köp av en skotare. På detta sätt kan kunden själv anpassa lastutrymmet för det ändamål maskinen ska användas till. Detta projekt omfattade LoadFlex-banken, som kan justeras i bredd och höjd. Målet med projektet var att ta fram förslag på en förbättrad LoadFlex-bank eller ett helt nytt koncept till skotare 875 och 895. Förslagen skulle vara bättre med avseende på tillverkningskomplexitet, servicebarhet och kostnad, utan att mista de nuvarande funktionerna. Först undersöktes funktioner och uppbyggnad av den nuvarande konstruktionen. Sedan påbörjades arbetet med att komma på nya konstruktionslösningar. Två förslag, bestående av en ny konstruktion och en förbättrad version av den nuvarande konstruktionen, togs fram. Endast det förslag med en ny konstruktion färdigställdes. Projektet resulterade i ett konceptförslag av en ny breddningsbar bank. Det utgörs av en teleskopisk konstruktion som möjliggör breddning av lastutrymmet i flera steg. Resultaten visar att det finns potential att spara både vikt och kostnad, så länge inte allt för stora förstärkningar behöver göras. Ingen hållfasthetsberäkning har gjorts, men hållfastheten bör bara vara en fråga om dimensionering av de olika komponenterna. Konceptet har potential till en lägre totalkostnad, jämfört med dagens system, trots den minskade lastkapaciteten.
