The thesis "Representation of a healthy lifestyle and the ideal of beauty in the media: comparison of lifestyle magazines" deals with the representation and media image of a healthy lifestyle and the ideal of beauty in four Czech printed lifestyle magazines Muscle & Fitness, Dieta, Blesk zdraví and Nová Regena in period from May to October 2013. This thesis aims to analyze presented titles and find out how these magazines represent individual and different way of healthy lifestyle and the ideal of beauty. Under this objective, the content of the thesis is divided into a theoretical part, Czech media system, methodology part and analytical - empirical part. The theoretical part discusses the social and media construction of reality as an anchor basis, follows the theory of media representation, its components narratives and seriality and the theory of stereotyping. It is also analyzed the theoretical framework of lifestyle and the phenomena of contemporary society. The representation of a healthy lifestyle and the ideal of beauty was in examined magazines analyzed by a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods of content analysis, whereby the emphasis was on linking theory and research. The diploma thesis "Construction of the imagination of the first republic era from the point of view of two generations explained by an example of the Czech TV series První republika" focuses on the mechanisms in which the TV series co-constructs the audience perception of the given era. The series was broadcasted from January 2014 untill June 2014 on the Czech Televisions program. The thesis aims to show how the younger generations of TV viewers construct the period in which they did not live through their consuming of media content. This is compared with the old-timers who could compare their own experience with the series. The audiences of both generations are equally scrutinized and consequently compared. The theoretical part introduces the theses about social and media construction of reality accompanied by audience cultivation theories. The final analysis of the acquired data is based on these theories but it aims to invent a new hypothesis. The subject matter of the research part is analysed by the qualitative method of the grounded theory as Strauss and Glaser understand it. For the questioning the semistructured and group interviews were used .

The aim of the diploma thesis Media Representation of Adultery and Its Participants From the 1970s is to analyze and describe the image of partner infidelity in selected Czech and Czechoslovak television series through the time and sociocultural context. The analyzed material and topic requires first an outline of the basic media theories, with focus on the theory of media construction of reality. Then follows the theoretical concept of partnership and adultery, at first seen through the optics of social context and then through the partnership itself, which helps us to understand the imaging analysis, models and stereotypes in the stories. The third theoretical chapter brings a brief description of the history of the Czechoslovak and Czech series, with an emphasis on the period since the 1970s accompanied by the theory of construction of reality in television series. We analyze three series - Nemocnice na kraji města, Život na zámku and Ordinace v růžové zahradě; our analysis is based on qualitative methods, specifically the naratological and discourse analysis, which helps us in the end to answer the defined research questions, to record the occurrence of certain models or stereotypes in the image of unfaithful characters, plots and other interesting phenomena within the social context of the series.

The diploma thesis The White House Presents: The Media Image of Barack Obama examines the media presentation of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, through the official media channel of the White House. Five video recordings of President Obama's speeches are analyzed with a focus on linguistic, visual and auditory sign systems with the use of the qualitative semiotic content analysis. Before the analysis itself, an explanation of theoretical terms related mostly to the representation of reality is provided. On these grounds the analysis is then approached as a description of different means of achieving media construction of reality, to which both the President himself and the White House Office of Communications contribute. This Office is in charge of the content of the above-mentioned channel. To broaden the context, general information about the functioning of the President's media communication is included. The aim of this thesis is an interpretation of the communication tools presented by the White House media channel and the analysis of their symbolic meaning in order to explicate the process of a specific media image of the President coming into existence. The main goal of this diploma thesis was to find patterns on the pages of Na vlastní oči (With One's Own Eyes) title that define gutter press in its specific form of political tabloid. The analysis was concerned with the time period from 2016 to 2019 during which the said title was published in total of four waves each of which related to the relevant pre-election campaign. The Na vlastní oči title was initially published anonymously and only later Jan Čížek, publisher of the regional town-hall newspaper and a Freedom and Direct Democracy Party (SPD) candidate, claimed to be the publisher. SPD subsequently became the final sponsor of the newspaper. In the first wave of publishing activity, the authors of the title focused on a disparaging campaign against the then-candidate for the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Parliament and, in a broader context, against the whole opposition within the City Council of the Prague 10 City Ward. In its later publications, the newspaper dealt mostly with topics aimed at spreading fear of an unspecified danger associated with the refugee crisis and concerns about the unknown in the form of the Islamic Religion which was always associated with the threat of terrorism. The diploma thesis deals with the media image of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic in the Czech Radio in years from 1930 to 2019. The fixture is one of the most important sports events in the country and the public radio has been informing listeners about it since the first year of the Czech GP holding. In its beginnings, the race found its place in the magazine Týdeník Rozhlas, which was also interested in technical background during GP. Based on the preserved articles from the magazine Týdeník Rozhlas, audio recordings from the Czech Radio, and Masaryk Circuit's chronicle, the thesis describes the history of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic from the public broadcasting perspective. It examines how the radio informs its listeners about the races and how much space it gives to the motorcycle world championship in broadcast. or what topics reporters choose in connection with the races. The quotes from the interviews with a photographer Tomáš Gescheidt, a head of the Czech Radio motorcycle section Luděk Hubáček, and with a track commissioner Jaroslav Pešek are included in the thesis. The methodological part of the research covers the method of qualitative and quantitative content analysis and historical method. The conclusion of this thesis is analytical and presents the results.

This diploma thesis focuses on the concept of family in Czech society and on the media image in the series "Ulice". The aim of this thesis is to find the two concepts, then compare and contrast them. The research is qualitative, the used methods are content analysis and in-depth interview. The thesis begins with a theoretical part, where topics related to media constructions of reality, series "Ulice" and Czech family are explained. The theoretical part sets grounds for creating hypotheses. In the practical part, the last completed series of the series "Ulice" is analysed. The content of the viewed episodes is analysed using content analysis, followed by a verification of the hypotheses based on the theoretical part. A media image of family in the series "Ulice" is created based on the results of the content analysis. Subsequently, in-depth interviews are conducted with five Czech families, who are chosen intentionally. The concept of the Czech family in society is compiled based on the data from those interviews. Finally, the media picture of the Czech family in "Ulice" series and its concept in Czech society is compared, their similarities and differences are described. This diploma thesis deals with the media representation of social classes and inequalities in the popular Czech series Most!. It focuses primarily on the conception of classes in Czech society and on aspects of the construction of everyday reality through the series. It also identifies the stereotypes, which have a potential influence on the formation of the viewer's opinions and attitudes. The thesis was created on the basis of a qualitative content analysis of the series with the aid of multimodal analysis, which focuses on linguistic and visual communication of the characters. To enrich this analysis, an element of the type was also added to the analysis. This type provides a comparison the characters with the social types in Czech society. The analysis of the paper was also inspired by the project Divided by Freedom, from the year of 2019, which divided society into several classes. The paper follows this research and class sorting and applies it to the series Most!. This diploma thesis defines social classes, the way in which they are represented and how this representation forms reality through stereotypes. Thanks to the element of type in the analysis, a set of typical characteristics was recognized which connected the series and living world.

The diploma thesis focuses on the leading Czech graphic studio Najbrt, its history, art work and media image. Its aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of its development from its foundation to the present day, and then to examine the studio's representation in the most read Czech print media through quantitative and qualitative content analysis. In the theoretical part, in addition to a historical summary of Studio Najbrt, the value of visual communication and a brief outline of the history of graphic design are presented. Furthermore, the individual components of a complex visual style, on the preparation and processing of which Studio Najbrt primarily focuses, are described. The theoretical basis for media representation of reality and its effects on the recipient are also presented, approached from a social constructivist perspective. The practical part contains the results of the analysis and presents how the selected media report on Studio Najbrt, what topics are most frequently mentioned in its context and how much space and attention is given to selected aspects of the studio or its works.
