A Framework For Authentication Of Medical Reports Based On Keystroke Dynamics

Ozdemir, Musa Kazim 01 June 2010 (has links) (PDF)
Privacy of personal health records is of ultimate importance. Unfortunately, it is easy to obtain illegal access to electronic health records under insufficient security precautions. Access control based on token or username/password is not adequate for applications in health domain which require heightened security. Currently, electronic signature mechanisms are being employed as a strong alternative to classic methods. In addition, biometrics provide more precise results in comparison to electronic signature methods. However, applicability of biometrics in this field has been prohibited by factors such as the need for special hardware, increased implementation costs, and invasiveness of the biometry sensors (eg. iris topology, fingerprint). Behavioral biometrics such as speech, and keystroke dynamics are easier to implement, and do not suffer from the disadvantages mentioned for the static biometrics. Especially, using keystroke dynamics for user authentication is more advantageous than other advanced biometrics because the implementation is inexpensive and continuous identity control is plausible. The aim of this study is to show the feasibility of merging a biometry-based advanced identity verification method together with an initial access control procedure such as password check. In this study, we provide an authentication framework based on measuring similarity of the typing characteristics of medical reporters, while they are typing medical reports. We have made a prototype of the system and provided classification of keystroke timings for each operator. We have generated a testbed and measured similarity of typing patterns of 5 medical reporters upon typing 4 different kinds of medical reports. Our system performs with hundred percent accuracy in identifying the authorized operators from the reports they type. In current practice, electronic signatures are indispensable for health information systems, but our study shows that keystroke dynamics can easily be included in this chain for increased security.

No. of bitstreams: 2 Thiago_Ferreira_ Toledo_2017.pdf: 4330728 bytes, checksum: 73f5158965bc4e02f9124a14dff04241 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-08-18 / The overall purpose of automatic speech recognition systems is to allow the interaction between humans and electronic devices through speech, for example, the content captured from user's speech using a microphone, can be converted into textual transcription. In general, such systems should be able to overcome adversities such as noise influence, communication channel variability, age, accent and speed of speech, concurrent speech from other speakers and spontaneous speech. Even with this challenging scenario, this work aims to investigate this technology to be employed in the medical field. The research was carried out through a systematic review for the scientific basis of concepts and identification of relevant research studies. To validate the feasibility of using these systems in the medical field, a Web System Prototype was developed to generate medical reports through automatic speech recognition for the Brazilian Portuguese Language. The prototype was developed with the application of Delivery in Stage technique, from Software Engineering. The selection of the automatic speech recognition technology to be integrated to the prototype was based on an evaluation of the accuracy rate of seven systems for the Brazilian Portuguese Language. The development of this work allowed to conclude that these systems of automatic speech recognition can be used in the medical environment, providing support not only for making medical reports, but also acting as a monitoring record during a medical procedure.

Optimalizace procesu lékařských prohlídek ve spolupráci se společností Foxconn / Optimisation of the medical examination process in Foxconn

Dopitová, Markéta January 2015 (has links)
The main aim of this study is to describe and compare the process of medical examination in selected divisions of the Foxconn company on the basis of my personal working experience. The goal is to obtain comprehensive knowledge of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the medical examination procedure and to present a suitable optimisation of the process. The theoretical part of the study elaborates on the expert knowledge focusing on personnel management development, particular personnel processes, benefits for employees with the emphasis on medical examinations and international employment. The practical part is divided into two parts. The first part describes the company Foxconn and its selected divisions. The second part contains the medical examination outcomes, a research consisting of the medical check-up monitoring and SWOT analysis of the individual processes, a proposal for process optimisation including software installation, costs, staffing and training courses. A description of research methodology is also included. In order to achieve the aim of this study qualitative methods of collecting data were used. Monitoring the whole process of medical examinations was carried out by methods of observation and half-structured dialogues with human resources officers.
