Svenska fotbollssupportrars mediekonsumtion : Bourdieusk studie om sambandet mellan supporterpositioner och mediekonsumtionen av fotboll

Wikegård, Vilma, Jacob, Dageryd January 2023 (has links)
This bachelor's thesis aims to apply Pierre Bourdieu's theoretical framework of field, capital, and habitus to examine and understand how field-specific capital within the specific context of Swedish football supporters influences their media consumption. Bourdieu was concerned with how people's experiences and understanding of the world were shaped by, and concurrently shaped, the social structures prevalent in society. In this context, he emphasized how these structures manifest and are created within specific fields. The method of data collection involved a survey with qualitative elements in the design of the questions. The survey aimed to capture the supporters' positioning within the field and their media consumption habits. Factor and correlation analyses were applied to systematically analyze the collected data. The study's results indicate a significant impact on their media consumption from how football supporters position themselves within the field. Beyond team allegiance, hidden factors and structures influencing supporters' media habits emerged. This insight deepens the understanding of the complex factors governing people's behaviors and habits regarding football media consumption. By applying Bourdieu's theoretical concepts, the thesis has contributed to a deeper insight into how field-specific capital remains a significant influencing factor. Thus, the study has opened up discussions about the underlying structures and norms that shape supporters' habits, offering valuable insights for marketing strategies and event planning within football supporter culture.

Genusstereotyper i välgörenhetskommunikation : En semiotisk bildanalys av välgörenhetsorganisationers porträttering av ukrainska nödställda

Barresäter, Tova, Lovisa, Forsberg January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore how Ukrainian men and women in need of humanitarian aid are portrayed by three Swedish charity organizations. This study also has the ambition to discuss the potential differences and similarities between Ukrainian people in need and people in need from other countries by analysing the results of the study in relation to previous research in the area. The research question of the study is: How are Ukrainian people in need of humanitarian aid portrayed by Swedish charity organizations?   In order to answer the research question, pictures uploaded by UNHCR for Sweden, The Red Cross and Doctors without Borders on Instagram have been collected and analysed with semiotic picture analysis to identify and interpret the denotative and connotative signs in the pictures. This study relies on a theoretical framework surrounding semiotics, gender theory and stereotypes in combination with previous research in the field. These theories are used to analyse how Ukrainian men and women are portrayed.   The results of this study show that the portrayal of Ukrainian people in need of humanitarian aid both aligns with and goes against past stereotypes and gender norms related to people in humanitarian need. Both men and women are portrayed as parents, where the women are portrayed as caring and the men as protective. Other key results from the studies show that men and women are portrayed with different types of emotions. The women are more likely to show emotions and the men are more likely to be neutral.

AI in Co-Creation : The usability and impact of AI tools for co- creation in participatory design to generate innovative and user- centric design solutions

Freese, Sabine January 2023 (has links)
The current study focuses on applying generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in participatory design processes, specifically scrutinising the interactive dynamics between AI and human actors during the creative endeavour. Practice-oriented workshops and including a real, complex application example constituted the methodological framework. The analysis sought to investigate Artificial Intelligence's impact on the produced design outcomes and the dynamics of group interactions within participatory design environments. Obstacles and potential benefits in dealing with AI were thoroughly analysed, with the investigation targeting the potential for significant time savings and efficiency increases due to AI deployment. Simultaneously, a comprehensive evaluation occurred, assessing the quality of co-creative human-AI design solutions. The study identified important capabilities that influence the quality of generative AI solutions. The author termed them the "Effectiveness Trilogy", consisting of Expertise, Experience and Usability. The findings suggest that current generative AI systems must still be sufficiently equipped for handling complex tasks. The resultant solutions frequently exhibited superficiality and needed more efficacy to generate substantial time savings, as observed in our analysis.

Brutna mönster för medias bevakning av klimatförändringar : En kvantitativ undersökning av rapporteringen om klimatförändringar i Aftonbladet och Dagens Nyheter från januari 2010 till december 2019

Blomqvist, Andreas January 2024 (has links)

Indigenous on Instagram : The Role of non-Indigenous Content Creators in Representing Indonesian Indigenous Culture on Instagram

Saptiono, Idzni Sabrina January 2024 (has links)
In the digital landscape, social media platforms wield significant influence in shaping narratives and amplifying voices often sidelined by mainstream discourse. However, within this dynamic terrain, the persistent legacy of systemic oppression, rooted in colonial legacies, presents a dichotomy of opportunities and challenges for Indigenous communities. This thesis explores the roles and approaches of Instagram content creators in representing Indonesian Indigenous people and their cultures. Through in-depth interviews and reflexive thematic analysis grounded in theories of representation and self-representation, the study unveils the perceived roles of Instagram content creators and their strategies for depicting Indigenous cultures. The thematic analysis reveals four key findings: their role as Information Collectors and Providers, the intrinsic motivation of learning, the alignment of the creators’ authenticity and the inclusion of Indigenous topics, and the upholding of ethical principles throughout the production process. Guided by their genuine interest and motivation in learning from the Indigenous people, these content creators navigate the complexities of Indigenous representation on social media. Their approaches demonstrate a balance between self-expression and ethical depictions of Indigenous cultures, ultimately contributing to a more mindful representation of Indigenous people.

Al Jazeera English's Coverage of Controversies Surrounding Migrant Workers' Treatment for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar : A Critical Discourse Analysis

Hendel, Olga January 2024 (has links)
This study conducts a critical discourse analysis of Al Jazeera English's coverage of controversies surrounding the treatment of migrant workers in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup preparations. The research explores Al Jazeera's media bias, focusing on representation, manipulation and ideologisation, sportswashing, and power in media discourse. Employing an adaptive approach, I use Fairclough's Dialectical-Relational Approach and Halliday's textual analysis. This investigation draws from scholarly work in critical discourse analysis and media production theory. Numerous reports from media outlets and human rights organisations have exposed persistent challenges faced by migrant workers in Qatar, including wage theft and poor working conditions. This thesis acknowledges the role of media in shaping public perception and political agendas, highlighting Al Jazeera's unique position as a government-owned media outlet. The study's methodology involves critical discourse analysis in three stages: micro-level text analysis, meso-level discourse practice analysis, and macro-level sociohistorical context analysis. The analysis results reveal the presence of media bias in Al Jazeera's coverage, with specific articles reflecting the Qatari government's perspective. In contrast, others emphasise the challenges faced by migrant workers. This suggests that Al Jazeera oscillates between objective reporting and government influence with a higher tendency to take Qatar´s stand in certain aspects of international politics. Future research could extend this investigation by including a comparative analysis of Al Jazeera English and Arabic and considering the influence of media ownership patterns. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how media outlets navigate reporting on contentious issues within the context of major global events. Kvinnliga sportjournalister på frammarsch? : En jämförande kvantitativ innehållsanalys av Sportbladets kvinnliga journalisters utrymme och innehåll

Titus, Marcus, Doss, Jonathan January 2017 (has links)
This study's purpose is to examine how female sportswriters representation in physical space and as regards content has evolved over a period of ten years in the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladets sports printed supplement Sportbladet. The history of female sportswriters in press all over the world seems to have been largely outnumbered despite the fact that the practitioners of sports is very similar numerically. To investigating this matter, a content analysis was made on 30 printed papers from each year of 2006 and 2016. The results showed that female sportswriters in Sportbladet had made some significant differences in the regard of increasing their representation in both physical space and what type of journalistic work they were assigned to under this period.
