A Feasible Evaluation and Analysis of Visual Air Quality Index in Urban Areas

Chang, Kuo-chung 21 July 2006 (has links)
This research analyzed the weather information (temperature, wind velocity, visibility, and total cloudiness) from the Taipei and the Kaohsiung Weather Station of Central Weather Bureau, and air pollution from the Air Quality Monitoring Station of Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan ( Shihlin, Shihlin, Jhongshan, Wanhua, Guting, Songshan¡A), Nanzih, Zuoying, Cianjin, and Siaogan ) to evaluate the feasibility of using visibility as the ambient air quality index by statistical analysis¡C In regard to the visibility in Taipei metropolis, the visibility between 1983~1992 showed a steady status between 5~11 kilometers. The visibility after 1993 has increased gradually between 6~16 kilometers, which indicated that the visual air quality has been improved year by year in Taipei metropolis. In regard to the visibility in Kaohsiung metropolis, the index has a trend of decreasing year by year from 10~24 kilometers to 2~12 kilometers, and the decrease was particularly obvious after 1993. Analyzing the air quality index greater than 100 in the metropolis, the visibility is categorized as the level of "poor", which means that the visibility is within 3 kilometers. When the air quality index ranges between 76~100, the visibility is categorized as the level of median, which means the visibility is within 4 kilometers. When the air quality index ranges between 50~75, the visibility is categorized as the level of "good", which means the visibility is within 7 kilometers. When the air quality index ranges between 20~49, the visibility is categorized as the level of "excellent", which means the visibility is beyond 7 kilometers.

Trumpalaikė ozono koncentracijos kaita atmosferos pažemio sluoksnyje / Short-term variations of the ground-level ozone concentration

Pletkutė, Lina 01 July 2010 (has links)
Baigiamajame magistro darbe nagrinėjama trumpalaikė ozono koncentracijos kaita ir jos priklausomybė nuo meteorologinių parametrų. Literatūros apžvalgoje aptariama ozono susidarymas, cheminės savybės, poveikis žmogaus sveikatai ir augalams. Atlikta 2000-2009 metais Preilos monitoringo stotyje gautų duomenų (vienos valandos vidurkiai) analizė. 2009 metų šiltuoju sezonu atliktas eksperimentas, sudaryta dešimties ir dviejų minučių vidurkių ozono koncentracijos ir meteorologinių parametrų duomenų bazė. Parametrų tarpusavio priklausomybė nustatyta panaudojant tiesinės regresijos metodą, apskaičiuoti koreliacijos koeficientai. Pasinaudojant Furje metodu atlikta ozono bei meteorologinių parametrų spektrinė analizė. Buvo rasti pagrindiniai dažnių pikai, kurie labiausiai išryškėja. Darbą sudaro 6 dalys: įvadas, literatūros apžvalga, matavimo prietaisai ir metodika, eksperimentinių tyrimų rezultatai, išvados ir literatūros sąrašas. Darbo apimtis – 57 p. teksto be priedų, 38 paveikslai., 3 lentelės, 53 bibliografiniai šaltiniai. Atskirai pridedami darbo priedai. / In master final work the variation of short-term ozone concentration variations were analyzed. Ozone formation, chemical characteristics, impact on human health and plants were described. The study of the short- and long-term ozone concentration variations dependence on meteorological parameters is presented. The data of hourly parameters obtained at the monitoring station Preila during 2000-2009 years were analyzed. The 2 and 10 minutes average values of the ozone concentration and meteorological parameters were collected during experiment in warm season of 2009 year. The regression analysis was applied for the determination of the correlation coefficients between variables. The strongest relationship from the long-term variations was found between ozone concentration and temperature. The strongest relationship from the short-term variations was found between ozone concentration and wind speed. Structure: introduction, literary review, measurements instruments and methodology, experimental research results, conclusions and references. Thesis consists of: 57 p. text without appendixes, 38 pictures, 3 tables, 53 bibliographical entries. Appendixes included.

Investigation Into The Effect Of Meteorological Parameters On The Airborne Dust Concentration At Ovacik Open Pit Gold Mine

Esenkaya, Ercan 01 May 2004 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, it is aimed to investigate and analyze the effect of meteorological conditions on airborne dust measured at Ovacik Open Pit Gold Mine. Meteorological data must be sound and reliable which are used mainly to design an air model to predict the effect of industrial sites on air quality during production. Wind speed, wind direction, airtemperature, air pressure, relative humidity, rainfall, evaporation and sunshine. are the parameters investigated in this study. In the thesis, the meteorological data observed are analyzed and discussed together with the airborne dust measured by MP101M Suspended Particulate Beta Gauge Monitor at Ovacik Gold Mine. In this study, the most significant meteorological parameter affecting airborne dust concentration is determined as air temperature. In this study, it is also determined through airborne dust measurements that neither the short-term limit nor the long-term limit has been exceeded. Therefore, the airborne dust concentrations at Ovacik Gold Mine comply with the Turkish Air Quality Control Regulation.
