The vortex induced vibration VIV is a main subject studied in the offshore engineering, having its name adapted to VIM by the occurrence in Spar platforms in the Gulf of México. As the first monocolumn unit, the Sevan Piranema, was in Northeast Brazil in 2007, VIM occurrence in cylindrical units like this was questioned, having the mooring lines design dimensioned without this load. Firstly a detailed study about the works developed in this field was performed, and not being found enough publications about VIM in monocolumns, its characterization was aimed in terms of oscillation amplitude and period through model tests, due to the difficulty to obtain reliable results by means of analytical or numerical approaches. Later, with the objective of verifying the impact of VIM in extreme loads and, mainly, in fatigue damage, analyses with two different methods found in the literature were performed. The first consider the application of VIM as a motion in the numerical model, based on the experimental results, and the second applies the observed forces. For these studies the mooring system for a typical scenario was analyzed, under the wave, wind and current environmental force. At last, due to the importance observed from the results, there were discussed the relation of VIM with some external factors, like span wise relation, presence of waves and viscous damping, being presented for this last a comparison of the numerical model results with the experimental is presented.

[en] TENSILE STRENGTH OF A CONCRETE ANCHORING SUBJECTED TO IMPACT LOAD / [pt] RESISTÊNCIA À TRAÇÃO DE UM SISTEMA DE ANCORAGEM EMBUTIDO EM CONCRETO SUJEITO A CARGA DE IMPACTOJOAQUIM NUNES MARTINS JUNIOR 24 July 2006 (has links)
sujeitos a diferentes
taxas de aplicação de carga. Foram também ensaiados quinze
corpos-de-prova
de concreto à compressão diametral e nove pinos à tração,
também sujeitos a
diferentes taxas de aplicação de carga. O objetivo desses
sofrem grandes
[en] This work investigates the strength of a concrete anchor
system constituted
of headed studs embedded in concrete subjected to impact
tension load. The
main variable was the loading rate which varied from a
minimum of 0,015 kN/s
(static) to a maximum of 54885 kN/s. The anchor system was
designed so that
the failure was governed by concrete cone breakout. Eleven
concrete blocks
with a single headed stud were tested under different
loading rates. In addition,
fifteen concrete cylinders subjected to compression along
a diameter (split
cylinder test) and nine headed studs subjected to tension
were tested under
different loading rates in order to investigate the
effects of the loading rate on
the strength of concrete and steel separately. The results
showed that the area
and the angle of the concrete cone were not affected by
the loading rate. The
failure load of the concrete cone increases as the loading
rate increases and this
phenomenon can be described by a logarithmic function. The
concrete split
tensile strength and the steel tensile strength also
increase as the loading rate
increases.

No entanto, a
Dentre as
viabilizar a realização dessas análises.
With the depletion of onshore and offshore shallow-water reserves, the industry has
exploited and produced oil in deep water and ultra-deepwater. However, the hydrodynamic
verification of new floating production systems continues using the established
methodologies, especially by carrying out tests on ocean basin laboratories. Small-scale
model tests have been used since the first projects in shallow water and continue today
in the projects in ultra-deepwater. However, tests in depths above 1,500m require a
very high scale factor, which poses several complications, among them the difficulties to
accommodate the mooring lines and the small models related uncertainties. Among the
possible solutions, the hybrid testing (numerical and experimental) are the most feasible
solution to experimental verification in ultra-deepwater, especially the hybrid passive
systems test. Such test is divided into steps, the first one responsible for the definition
of the truncated system. If this step is not performed satisfactorily, the success of the
test may be compromised. Thus, in order to minimize this issue, a systematic way to
find equivalent truncated systems, considering the static and dynamic effects through
the use of the optimization tools is proposed in this doctoral thesis. Accordingly, the
approach adopted uses a numerical simulator, called Dynasim, for static and dynamic
analysis of offshore structures, and a gradient based optimization algorithm, given in
Dakota computational system. Additionally, the design of experiments methodology is
used to identify the factors that influence the static and dynamic responses of the problem,
avoiding the use of irrelevant design variables in the optimization process. It has to be
emphasized that this methodology has not been used in other works in the context of
truncated mooring systems, to our knowledge. Furthermore, the optimal design of the
truncated system is analyzed for several environmental conditions. The aim is to verify the
agreement of the truncated mooring system with system in the full-depth. Due to the high
computational cost involved in the verification, we use the high-performance computing,
with parallel computation, to perform the analyzes. As shown in this work, the proposed
methodology easy the search for equivalent truncated mooring systems preserving the
static and dynamic characteristics of full-depth mooring systems. Four case studies are
presented and discussed. The first two refer to simplified cases; the third is based on the
literature and the fourth is based on a real scenario. The results in each case show that
the truncated equivalent system found can reproduce the behavior of full-depth system for
the verified conditions.

Håll koll på trossen : Omgivningsmedvetenhet på förtöjningsplatsen / Keep an eye on the mooring line : Situational awareness on the mooring stationKoedphaibun Jörgensen, Phatthaphon January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to investigate situational awareness within the crew, working on the mooring station. Accidents at the mooring station occur regularly. Those who are working at the mooring station handle large forces under a time pressure, therefore it is of interest to investigate the crew onboard vessels that moor and unmoor more than four times a day. The tool situational awareness comes from the maritime Bridge Resource Management, it is used to improve safety. This was a qualitative study and semi-structured interviews were carried out to make it easier to capture the respondents’ thoughts and experiences. The results showed that situational awareness is manifested through the crew in the form of attention and vigilance. High areas were regarded as as those with a high potential for snapback. These areas were highlighted as those in the immediate proximity of fairleads fairleads, bollards and behind the drum where the mooring line is stored.

ABSTRACT
From analyzing incidents of the CALM Yoke FSOs of Vietsovpetro in the White Tiger and Dragon fields, we can identify the need to develop offshore structures (including FPSO) installed and operated in safety in most severe Vietnamese sea states, with many and frequent strong winds and tropical typhoons.
In this thesis, a general research on the FPSO mooring systems has been carried out by considering various problems: second order hydrodynamic efforts, random dynamic responses of the FPSO mooring systems, analyzing random damage of fatigue and estimating the durability of the mooring lines. In particular, a thorough study with a new concept was proposed to estimate the total reliability of FSPO mooring line systems. The total reliability was estimated for extreme sea conditions (ULS), which decreases with the time due to the accumulation of the damage by fatigue of the moorings lines (FLS).
In the last part of thesis, this method was applied to the severe sea conditions of Vietnam, especially considering the ultimate limit states and taking into account the accumulation of the fatigue damage. For numerical application, two FSOs existing now in Vietnam were analyzed.
The main studies in this thesis have also contributed to develop a National Research Project in Vietnam (entitled code KC.09.15/06-10), in which the author acts as a research team member.

The use of computational systems to solve engineering problems is increasingly present practical in the design offices. The Finite Element Method is one of the numerical techniques used in many of these systems, like the DOOLINES, a framework developed in objectoriented language, that allows a time domain dynamic analysis of the mooring lines and risers. In DOOLINES, until this work, the mooring lines and risers were discretized in onedimensional finite elements using a simplified formulation with six degrees of freedom (translational) element, with the consideration of only the axial and bending stiffness, when desirable, being this indirectly. This work incorporates into the DOOLINES class structure a new complete formulation element type that uses the co-rotational theory, with twelve degrees of freedom (translational and rotational) element, able to represent the axial, bending and torsional stiffness. The lumped-mass matrix is used in both formulations. This paper makes a comparative study of these elements about the quality of the response and the time required for simulation.
