Muito se têm estudado o que esse ingresso acarretou de mudanças sociais e políticas, mas o que essas mudanças provocam nos indivíduos e no próprio local? Assim, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar a construção de identidades de gênero em uma vereadora no interior do estado da Bahia. Através de uma história de vida de uma vereadora e utilizando análise de conteúdo constatou-se que pontos como: a infância, a religião, a família, o trabalho, a profissão e a política; são instrumentos que influem as performances de gênero dos sujeitos no ambiente da política institucional. Também discute sobre a entrada das mulheres em cargos eletivos, demonstrando que ainda existem muitas barreiras a serem transpostas. Na política a participação de mulheres vem aumentando, mas isto tem ocorrido de forma lentíssima e a maioria não se sente representada. A produção dos dados foi feita por meio de 13 encontros, em sua maioria gravados, nos quais ocorreram os recolhimentos da história de vida da participante. Esses dados foram categorizados a posteriori e analisados com base no referencial teórico. As histórias relatadas pela vereadora mostram que as relações de poder que a circunda constroem suas atuações performáticas. Observou-se que no Brasil, assim como o estudo de Charles (2014) no País de Gales, as mulheres dentro da política devem “fazer masculinidade” para serem melhores aceitas. Dessa maneira, vê-se que gênero é algo que o indivíduo faz e desfaz. / In the last decades women began to occupy social spaces that were previously relegated, among them is the institutional policy. Much has been studied of what this entails of social and political changes, but what do these changes bring about in individuals and in the place itself? Thus, this research aimed to analyze the construction of gender identities in a councilwoman in the interior of Bahia State. Through a life history of a councilwoman and using a content analysis found that such points as: childhood, religion, family, work, profession and policy; are instruments that influence the subjects' gender performances in institutional policy. It also discusses the entry of women into elective positions, demonstrating that there are still many barriers to be overcome. In politics the participation of women has been increasing, but this has occurred very slowly and most do not feel represented. The data were produced through 13 meetings, mostly recorded, where the recollection of the participant's life history occurred. These data were categorized a posteriori and analyzed based on the theoretical reference. The stories told by the city councilwoman show that relations of power that surrounds her construct her performances. It was observed that in Brazil, as well as Charles's (2014) study in Wales, women in policy must "do manhood" to be better accepted. In this way, it is seen that gender is something that the individual does and undo.
