For the development of the research, the recorder was chosen as instrument of early musical instruction. In the process of repertoire selection, with the intention of guaranteeing pleasure in the musical activity, pieces were chosen contemplating the taste, age and everyday life of the individuals envolved in the research. The research had as a theoretical basis the works of the authors Dalcroze, Orff, Kodály, Willems, Garmendia (1981), Swanwick (2003), Sekeff (2007), Rodrigues (2003), and Zanini (2003), among others. Based on a bibliographical research about musical education, old age, subjective well-being and the social image of these people, it was possible to observe the relation between music and elderly people, verifying how the former can act in the human being and help in successful aging. The data, collected through weekly observations/classes of a duration of one hour which extended over a period of ten months were analyzed in the light of the phenomenological and the existential method. The individuals musical notions were compared at the beginning and at the end of the observations/classes. With the comparison done, the result shows that the elderly were able to assimilate the content provided throughout the research. A questionnaire (for the verification of the elderly s profile) was applied, as well as the evaluations and statements of the individuals, a group of fifteen elderly people, members of the Association of the Elderly of Brazil/Goiânia. It was noticed, after the analysis of the data, that music supports successful aging, because it contributes to better socialization, communication, creativity, and motor coordination of the elderly. / Esta pesquisa-ação, de paradigma qualitativo, discute o processo de musicalização na terceira idade, abordando alguns procedimentos metodológicos que podem ser utilizados como meio de propiciar uma melhor condição de vida ao idoso. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foi escolhida a flauta doce como instrumento musicalizador. No processo de seleção do repertório foram priorizadas, com o intuito de garantir o prazer no fazer musical, músicas que contemplassem o gosto, a faixa etária e o cotidiano dos sujeitos envolvidos na pesquisa. A pesquisa teve como base teórica os trabalhos dos autores Dalcroze, Orff, Kodály, Willems, Garmendia (1981), Swanwick (2003), Sekeff (2007), Rodrigues (2003), Zanini (2003), dentre outros. Com base em uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre educação musical, velhice, bem-estar subjetivo e imagem social dessas pessoas, foi possível observar as relações entre música e idosos, verificando como aquela pode agir no ser humano e ajudá-lo a ter um envelhecimento bem-sucedido. Os dados, coletados por meio de observações/aulas semanais com uma hora de duração que se estenderam por um período de dez meses - foram analisados à luz do método fenomenológico e existencial. As noções musicais dos sujeitos foram aferidas no início e no final das observações/aulas. Feita a comparação, o resultado mostra que as idosas conseguiram assimilar os conteúdos ministrados no decorrer da pesquisa. Foram aplicados questionário (para verificação do perfil dos idosos), avaliação e depoimento dos sujeitos - um grupo de quinze idosas - membros da Associação dos Idosos do Brasil/Goiânia. Percebeu-se, após a análise dos dados, que a música favorece um envelhecimento bem-sucedido, pois contribui para uma melhor socialização, comunicação, criatividade e coordenação motora de indivíduos na terceira idade.

The main objective consists of the systematization and analysis of the results obtained with the methodology implementation of sensitivity and musical initiation experienced by elderly groups. The technique used consisted of the active observation and photographic records of the process, which permitted the presentation of the description and analysis of the attained results on each working stage. This essay includes, initially, the presentation of the pedagogical concepts of the musical education , considering its specification on the working performance together with the elderly segment. During the project, related questions to the aging process as well as the reflecting thoughts and criteria about the musical educator profile when working with elderly people, have been studied. The results of the analysis pointed out the possibility of the musical language learning process alphabetization with elderly people and reflect about myths and social signals linked to musical education and aging . Besides that, describes analytically the sensitivity stage including the work with the sound phenomenon and the properties of the sound, the rhythm development and the dancing as a powerful instrument of musical appreciation. Finally, the analyses of the results attained in the Initiation stage are found as well as the phases, concepts and processes. / Esta pesquisa caracteriza-se como um estudo de caso sobre a aplicação de uma proposta metodológica de Educação Musical junto a pessoas da terceira idade. O objetivo principal deste trabalho constituiu-se na sistematização e análise dos resultados obtidos com a implementação da metodologia de Sensibilização e Iniciação Musical, vivenciadas por grupos de idosos. A técnica utilizada foi a observação participante e registros fotográficos de campo, que permitiram a apresentação da descrição e análise dos resultados alcançados, em cada etapa do trabalho. Esta dissertação inclui, inicialmente, a apresentação dos fundamentos pedagógicos da Educação Musical, considerando sua especificidade, enquanto um trabalho realizado junto ao segmento idoso. Na seqüência são tratadas questões relativas ao processo de envelhecimento, além de colocações resultantes das reflexões sobre o perfil do educador musical na realização dessa docência com a terceira idade. Os resultados das análises permitiram indicar a possibilidade da alfabetização da linguagem musical na velhice e refletir sobre os mitos e estigmas sociais ligados à Educação Musical e ao Envelhecimento. Além disso, descreve, analiticamente, a etapa de Sensibilização, incluindo o trabalho com o fenômeno sonoro e as propriedades do som, o desenvolvimento rítmico e a dança como um instrumento potencializador da apreciação musical. Finalmente, encontra-se a análise dos resultados alcançados na etapa de Iniciação, suas fases, os conceitos trabalhados e seus processos.
