El uso de los diminutivos en el espaňol mexicano / Deminutiva in the Spanish of Mexico

The major aim of this thesis is to characterize the use of diminutive forms in Mexican Spanish and to analyze it in the corpora. Secondarily, a series of activities is proposed so that the topic could be worked with in the classes of Spanish as a foreign language. The thesis consists of two main parts, a theoretical and an empirical one, and an appendix. In the theoretical introduction, the concept of the diminutive is described, as well as its morphological and semantic-pragmatic features, its peculiar use in American varieties of Spanish and, especially, its implementation in Mexican Spanish. Possible explanations of its idiosyncratic use are given; in particular, the Mexican society and the influence of Náhuatl are analyzed. The empirical part is divided into two sections. The main analysis focuses on the use of the diminutive in Mexican Spanish from the socio-linguistic and morfo-semantic point of view. The analysis is realized in the Corpus Sociolingüístico de la Ciudad de México. In the secondary analysis, the most frequent diminutives are investigated in the Corpus de Referencia del Espaňol Actual and the Corpus Diacrónico del Espaňol. The appendix presents various dynamic and communicatively-oriented activities, proposed both to practice the diminutive and to introduce the socio-cultural element, essential in the language teaching.

El seguimiento referencial es abordado desde un enfoque funcional-cognitivo y desde una perspectiva tipológica dando cuenta de los mecanismos que esta lengua usa para codificar la referencia y mantener la cohesión a lo largo del texto. Este es un estudio sobre el discurso náhuatl. El análisis está basado en la Estructura de la Información (EI) y la Coherencia Discursiva que se ha documentado por medio del fenómeno lingüístico conocido como seguimiento de la referencia. / The reference tracking is introduced from approach cognitive-functionalist and from a typological view to shed light on the mechanisms that this language uses to codify the reference and keep cohesion along the text. This study is about Nahuatl discourse. The analysis is based on Information Structure (IS) and Discursive Coherence. It is explored through the linguistic phenomenon named reference tracking.

Voces indígenas en letras españolas: algunos aspectos morfosintácticos del contacto colonial

En este artículo nos acercamos a las características morfosintácticas de nueve documentos provenientes de diferentes archivos del centro de México, que acusan una evidente interferencia entre la lengua náhuatl y el español de los siglos XVII y XVII, y que son autógrafos de indígenas. El tipo de interferencia que observamos en ellos es la reduplicación del OD, la ausencia de una preposición ‘a’ que marca caso, la ausencia de concordancia entre sustantivo y adjetivo, y el uso generalizado de la preposición ‘en’ como marca de locativo. / In this article an approach is made to the morphosyntactic features of 9 documents that come from different archives of central Mexico; these documents show a clear interference between the Nahuatl and the Spanish languages of the XVII and XVIII centuries, and all of them were wrote by nahuatl speakers. The interferences presented in the documentation is the reduplication of the Direct Object, the absence of the preposition ‘a’ as case marker, the absence of the agreement between a noun and its adjective, and the generalized use of the preposition ‘en’ as locative marker.
