Mezinárodní zapojení do procesu budování míru na Srí Lance / International involvement in the peacebuilding process on Sri Lanka

Mojžíš, Michal January 2015 (has links)
The final months of Sri Lankan civil war, the 26 year military campaign between the Government of Sri Lanka and the insurgent separatist organization Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, are marked by allegations of war crimes committed by both parties of the conflict, including attacks on civilians, summary executions of prisoners, enforced disappearances, restrictions on humanitarian assistance and recruitment of children. Since the attempts to put the Sri Lankan issue on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council failed on the unwillingness of China and Russia, the UN bodies in Geneva have taken a leading role in promoting the peacebuilding process on the island. The thesis aims to analyse the impact of the Geneva-based human rights bodies, in particular of the United Nations Human Rights Council, on the process of reconciliation in Sri Lanka, for which is crucial that the alleged violations of human rights in the last months of the civil war would be properly investigated and that the perpetrators would be held accountable. In order to put the activity of the UN Human Rights Council into broader context, the paper will examine the political development in Sri Lanka since the end of the civil war in 2009 as well as the failed efforts of Sri Lankan governments to launch the process of reconciliation.

Economic Security: modern transformation processes and their impact on society (case of Russia) / Economic Security: Modern Transformation Processes and Their Impact on Society (Case of Russia)

Tarasov, Vadim January 2011 (has links)
The modern globalizing world is being shaped by transformational processes that permeate through all the spheres of society life. The struggle for limited resources have never been removed from the agenda of the leading economic powers. At the same time, their methods have been taking a different shape: the times of military confrontations have yielded to the era informational, geopolitical and geoeconomic wars. These phenomena determine the trends of world economy development and actualize the problem of protecting national economic interests. This study was conducted in order to analyze modern transformational processes and strategic mechanisms of providing national economic security aimed at sustainable development of society. It was shown that the processes occurring in society should be analyzed through a "civilizational prism". From that perspective culture is seen as the holding element of the informational matrix, representing a medium through which a society can be governed. The paper reconsiders the idea of economic security from conceptual viewpoint, based on reproduction approach, theory of conflicts management and modeling methods of game theory. Besides, in order to achieve compatibility of various economic security indicators, novel mathematical models were used, allowing for a comprehensive analysis. The results of applying the mathematical models in regard to the economic security of Russia demonstrated, that despite some particular positive shifts (mainly in financial sphere), the country is still facing many internal and external threats. A new Russian strategy of long-term socio-economic development is intended to improve the situation. It is aimed to solve three crucial problems, which are the creation of equal opportunities for people, encouraging innovative behavior and a considerable enhancement of economy efficiency.

České bankovky : padělání a ochranné prvky / Czech banknotes: counterfeiting and protective elements

Zajícová, Martina January 2011 (has links)
The chapter, which should bring a basic overview about money and its counterfeiting, is called "Money". With usage of theoretical and empirical money definitions I introduced money and its historical development in the world and also in Czech countries. The last part of this chapter explains money circulation in economics. The third chapter is about counterfeiting development and about punishments which threatened to people if they were accused of counterfeiting. We can find a lot of concrete examples of fake money in Czech Republic and a story about a nazi camp Sachsenhausen, where Hilter and its soldiers were forcing Jewish prisoner to make fake British pounds and American dollars. The next chapter contains individual protective elements which can be found on Czech and world banknotes. The practical part begins with a chapter which shows pictures of Czech banknotes with the placement of protective elements. The analysis of the current situation in the field of money counterfeiting was done in chapter No 6 (the analysis is a main goal of this thesis). The following chapter brings information about a survey (it was done in February and March 2012 among Czech public) -- initial hypothesis, evaluation and dependencies could be found there. All my proposal and initiatives which can improve the current situation are stated in the closing chapter together with a summary of the thesis practical part.

Efektivní A/B a multivariantní testování v prostředí globálního trhu / Effective A/B and Multivariate Testing in the Global Market Environment

Janů, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
Thesis is focused on online content testing for the purpose of optimizing the performance of business and information channels in a global environment, i.e. where visitors come from different countries. This diversity causes different behavior of visitors, for example as the American perception of the content is entirely different from the Brazilian and French. Different perceptions and consumer behavior is caused by a different national culture in these countries. Therefore it is necessary or appropriate to test content for the purpose of optimizing on the local level. The simplest option is obviously to run the same test for each country separately. But that is extremely difficult in practice because of the duration of the test and human resources needed for test design, implementation, and evaluation. Therefore the aim of this thesis is to suggest modification of the general method used for testing the online content that will be sufficient for testing on the local level and will take cultural differences of each country into account, but yet also will be effective in terms of time and human resources consumption. Currently there isn't any publicly documented method which would cover this issue. The key of this modification is the segmentation of countries into groups based on similar national culture. Therefore the value of national culture has to be identified in some way and for this purpose it is possible to use model of the Dutch Professor Geert Hofstede, who identified six dimensions of national culture for each country and assigned them values. The benefit of this thesis is described modification of the testing method which is particularly suitable for companies operating on the global market or multiple markets simultaneously. This method, if it's used properly, is able to deliver growth of revenue while simultaneously reducing the consumption of human resources.
